Excellent "Hot Rod" Machine!,
April 10, 2009

"I needed a new washer/dryer when I moved out of state. My research kept bringing me back to the LG line. I did not initially think I would use the steam features often, but I was wrong. These cycles got dingy whites pristine white - like brand new. It removed old stains. I was speechless! Larger items, such as blankets, come out amazingly fresh, and with the 13000 rpm spin cycle, that blanket was dried (with the matching LG dryer) in 15 minutes. Again, speechless. I like the variety (tons) of settings, cycles, and options which help me to maximize effectiveness for laundry chores. My clothing/sheets/towels, etc. do not come out overly wrinkled/twisted, nor have I had any moldly smell issues. I do wipe down the inside of the unit as recommended. You will use hardly any detergent (follow instructions for amounts) and I find liquid detergent works better than powder in this machine. The maintenance of this unit is incredibly minimal. The speed cycle (20 - 25 minutes) does an amazing job and also leaves the clothing dry enough to substantially reduce drying time as stated in the ads. The unit is quiet overall and operates as advertised; no surprises. It is also aesthetically pleasing, flexible, and will provide you with an incredible options. I highly recommend users take the time to read the manual and educate themselves on the various cycles and functions as it will reduce frustration, over-use of longer cycles, and reduce energy /water consumption. To me, this machine is the V8 Muscle Car/Hot Rod version of washing machines; and with the shiny red color, you will think you do have a "hot rod" in your laundry room! Amazing, wonderful, excellent and good investment (there are sales all the time - hold out for one!). The pedestal drawers are 14" high, so they will not hold larger detergent bottles upright - FYI. Very glad I chose this product and would recommend it to anyone."

"Washer is very attractive and most of all quiet!! Large enogh to wash your comforters in it. I love the steam feature and allergeine feature. If you have pets or just like to sanitize your bedding once in awhile this washer is perfect. It kills all allergeines and bacterias becuase it can reach the appropriate temperatures to fully clense it. Its a little pricey but well worth it especially if you have kids!! A+++++++++"

2 years and still Love them!,

"We purchased the LG Washer & Dryer set 2 years ago this month and I still love the set as much today if not more than the day we bought it! I read the reviews on here and was a bit concerned before we purchased about the noises that people said it made, but I can tell you from experience that I have to go into the laundry room to double check that I started the machine because you can not hear it. Also the dryer does not have to work as long because the clothes come out of the washer almost dry. If you are thinking about buying, you should do it, I know they are expensive but well worth the money!"

"recently purchased the lg 2487 washer and dryer set. see my review under dryers. this washer is awesome. uses an unbelievably small amount of he detergent and specks of water, but clothes come out amazingly clean, smelling fresh as d spring breeze, and in good condition unlike items washed in a top loader, stretched to death. also the washer is so simple to use, touch the power button to turn it on, nice little music sounds, turn slector knob to select your cycle, and push start. everything else is pre programmed, the most effiecient spin cycle ive ever experienced, at end of load, the clothes are nicely wrung and feel almost dry, so drying time is cut down to a minimum. the steam cycle takes nearly 2 hours, but is well worth it, i just save items for that cycle for last. as manufacture instructs, you must always dry inside of washer door, seal, drum and leave the door open when not in use to prevent mildew, kudos to lg, i dont regret this purchase not one bit."

SPEND THE MONEY!,
June 11, 2008

"I am one of the most frugal people I know, and this was worth parting with a couple thousand dollars! My husband couldn't believe that I wanted such an expensive set, and after he saw how much cleaner his work clothes are, he even said we should have bought them sooner! I had a problem with the washer shaking and "banging" against the floor during the spin cycle for the first week or so. Finally, I really looked at the feet of the machine, adjusted one corner of the machine maybe a half turn, and its been completely quiet ever since. No problems. I heard horror stories about front loaders smelling like mildew because you can't leave the door open to air it out. I run a 6 minute rinse cycle every two weeks or so with bleach in the bleach dispenser....no problem! My clothes have never been brighter, whiter and smell awesome! My king sized comforters are clean and smell great-just like at the laundromat! BUY THIS SET! And I recommend the wireless timer if your laundry room is in a different area of the house! I can't say enough about these machines! It almost, A-L-M-O-S-T makes laundry fun! :-)"

"The Wife and I were taking clothes out of the house to the shop just to dry them, we added on to the house and while doing so we built a laundry room. Talking to her and trying to find a washer and dryer to put in there she found this RED set and fell in love with it. I at first was not sure and read alot of these reviews and was still confused about getting them.
Well now that I have had them for about 5 Months now and I don't really know they are in the laundry room until it hear the beep letting me know that the load is done.
Shacking of the washer?? well I have not seen this at all. I have the washer on a slick tile floor and it is still in the same place we put it and leveled it.
If you are trying to make up your mind if you want a new washer and dryer and can't decide well I am here to tell you this set is worth the money. Or so far it is."

"READ BEFORE YOU BUY - This is a great washer IF you have a basement laundry. We purchased the washer because of the energy efficiency, particularly with the higher spin cycles. Unfrotunately, we have a 2nd floor laundry room. The washer is completely unusable due to the amount of vibration - even on the slow spin cycles. The windows throughout the house rattle along with our dishes in our kitchen cabinets. I do not know what our options are yet, but using the washer is not one of them."

"I received this washer 10 days now. I've run it through about 40 loads so far to test different cycles. I also own a Whirlpool Duet HT washer which is right next to the LG washer. Here are my observations so far.
Pros:
1. More quiet than my Whirlpool Duet HT in high spin mode.
2. Option for more water and nice water circulation. When I wash 10 fleece pullovers, I can see they really get soaked. The Duet HT doesn't seem to spray enough water in there and I could see parts of the fleece that appear still dry.
Cons:
1. I used the steam wash (not the steam fresh, yet) about 10 times. Everytime
that I used it there is a strong chemical smell. It smells similar to magic marker. This really makes me sick.
2. The highest spin cycle does not wring the clothes as dry as the Whirlpool Duet HT next to it. I washed about 8 separate comforters with the highest spin speed. If the Duet produces a dryness of 10, the LG Tromm produces a dryness of 8. I also noticed in every single load the part of the comforter farthest inside the tub and on the bottom is the wettest compared to the rest. The dryness level in that area is 6/10. My jeans also come out about an 8/10 dryness compared to the Duet HT 10/10.
3. The steam wash button did not work in the beginning. After calling LG support, they suggested unpluggin the power and replugging. It worked after that. Seems like a common problem, and LG knew exactly what to do.
As far as reliability, only time can tell.

This is the best washer!,

"Do not hesitate to purchase this washer. If you are even considering the Kenmore line (more expensive) or the Maytag (slightly less), make sure you look at this one. Those were my top choices after a lot of consumer research.
This washer has humongous capacity. It has cut the number of loads of wash per week in half. It also uses less than 1/3 the amount of water. It cleans better than my old super capacity toploader. One of my first loads was of my husbands stained, ground in, grubby work clothes. They came out cleaner than they had been after previous washings with my old washer.
Speed wash for lightly soiled loads only takes 30 mins. Some of the other cycles can take from 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Due to being able to put so much more in a load, this is not a major inconvenience.
Steam cycle is great for refreshing a dry clean item or for removing wrinkles.
I do have this on the main floor of the house on wooden floor. It does vibrate a bit, but has caused no problems. The machine itself shakes, but does not walk around the room. I cannot feel it throughout the house, only in the adjacent powder room.
Washer is very quiet, other than when it is going into high spin mode. Even then, it cannot be heard two rooms away, and if I shut the laundry room door, you can't hear it at all.
I can't say enough about this washer. It has been a terrific investment. I had been looking at these for a couple of years, after my dryer broke down, and couldn't bring myself to spend the money to replace a washer that, albeit ancient, still worked. HD was having their floor model clearance, and at the sale price, I simply couldn't pass it up any longer. I do not regret that decision. In time savings, energy and water savings, this washer will pay for itself, and we have cleaner clothes to boot."

"We recently bought this washer/dryer set and we love it! First of all, the high capacity is great. I can shove a ton of clothes in and they all get clean. Second, the front load part is fabulous. No more bending over to reach into the washer. I LOVE the steam cycle! Our whites have never been whiter! All these years wearing off white socks has come to an end!
Last, the features are great. We use the childlock all the time. I can run a load and don't have to worry about the kids messing with the machine.
Expensive, yes. But worth every penny.
