Purchased this washer w/ matching dryer and pedestals about 7 months ago. So far, absolutely amazing! Someone mentioned it didn't seem to clean any better than a regular top loading but I couldn't disagree more. When we washed our towels in the old top load and put them away and pulled them out a week later, we had to wash them again as they had a stale or old smell to them. Now with this machine, they smell as if they just came out of the dryer even after a week of sitting in the closet!
Our use:
It sits on our 2nd story and I highly recommend getting the pedestals if you place it on the second story as this will minimize vibration and noise.
The Home Depot sales person warned us that these machines can sound louder when placed on the second story however we found out that there is a built in technology called 'spinwise' or ‘spinsense’ (I can’t think of the name off the top of my head) that senses vibration and will automatically adjust the speed of the drum for optimum spin w/o vibration.
We have a 3yr old and her clothes come out great and it is gentle enough even to wash her clothes with the princess/Disney characters on them.
We've washed our queen sized down filled comforter in this and every part comes out clean.
I recommend that you leave the front door and detergent door open after every use. This front loader has a little more maintenance then a regular top loader; for example about once a month (depending on how often you wash) you should drain and clean it's pump filter but this is easily done through a front panel and takes less than 5 minutes. Should also run a 'tub clean' cycle once a month (with a little bleach) ; this runs a super hot cycle and cleans out the tub (a button that's selectable on the unit).
This unit is much quieter than our old top loader. It's very hard to hear when the load is complete. (if it wasn't for the nice chime at the end you’d have no idea it was finished).
One problem we did have was day one we had to call tech support as the 'tub clean' feature wasn't working. It turned out, tech support was not familiar enough with machine to know that the spin sense cannot be turned on if you want to use the tub clean. I figured that one out after they had replaced all the electronics (TWICE)! And surprisingly I read the manual 3 times and my wife read it once to make sure we weren't missing anything. The washer (and matching dryer) have just been the best purchase I have made in a long time. I wasn’t an LG customer until now and I will certainly put LG at the top of my list when shopping for appliances and other products. Thanks for taking the time to read this!
Yes, I recommend this product.

We have had the washer/dryer/pedestal set for about 10 months, installed on the first floor over ceramic tile. I recommend them. The washer is very quiet! Once iin a while the washer will start up a little noisy, but it self corrects pretty quickly. YOU MUST LEAVE the washer door open between loads! Otherwise it will start to stink! This is true of all front loading washers. When someone forgets and leaves the door shut for too long, I'll just run a load of rags on sanitary and it sweetens right up. This could be a safety issue with small children and animals. We do keep the dryer closed between loads.
I have not found that the washer cleans much better than my old top loader did even with sanitary and steam settings. I still find the random stains on my solid cotton shirts. The load run time on all front loaders is a lot longer than top loaders. Easily twice as long! The volume that this machine holds helps to make up for that. A few weeks ago a friend mentioned that she does all her laundry on the speed setting. I hadn't even noticed this one. I use it for heavy duty stuff like towels, sheets and jeans, if time is a concern. I think it's a little harder on the clothes than the longer cycles.
We are a family of four- two teenaged boys. The size is nice for now. When they head off for school in a few years, I won't need anywhere near the capacity of these machines. If you like to divide your clothes up into more than just lights and darks, you may be happy with a much smaller capacity machine. I can wash six to eight large beach towels at a time in this puppy. On the other hand, I can fit dog beds and hockey gear into this one.
If you want to save a little on the set, I would get the steam in just one or the other. I would choose the dryer to help reduce wrinkles when you forget a load in it overnight. I haven't found the steam in the washer to be of much use. Pedestals are really helpful! Use HE detergent and don't add too much. I've had to back off on things that don't get that dirty like towels. If they start to feel stiff you're probably using too much detergent.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I've had this washer for a couple weeks now, and it's been everything it was advertised to be. My biggest concern was with the noise or vibration, but if you have it installed correctly - meaning balanced and level and on a solid surface like ceramic tile - it's a very quiet machine.
More importantly, it gets clothes very clean without the harsh agitator of most top-load washers. It also spins your clothes practically dry before you even place them in the dryer, which really cuts down on drying time. Would recommend.

My wife and I have owned this LG washer for a little over one year. We have this washer on the botton and a matching LG dryer stacked on the top. The washer has proven to be a very solid machine, and we have had no trouble with it in this first year.
Contrary to popular belief, this washer does not seem to get clothes significantly cleaner or get stains out significantly better than our old top-loading washer did. However, it does its job with about 1/3 or the water per load, compared to the old top-loader.
Before we bought this washer we read reviews about it here and elsewhere. One common point that we saw in many reviews was that the washer tends to get moldy inside over time. This is because the door on a front-loading washer must be water tignt, so if the door is closed after use, the inside of the washer stays damp. We use a bungie cord to allow the door to stay open 6" or so after use, but not far enough open for us to run into. We also pull out the detergent dispenser drawer after use to allow it to dry. The result has been no mold problems in a year, and we live near the North Carolina coast, where mold is a big problem.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Now that I've owned this for about 1 year, I'm ready to give it the glowing review it requires. This is one fantastic washer. It's quiet, cleans thoroughly, it's HUGE and it's actually attractive in my laundry room. Since purchasing this LG set, I've gone form 10 hours of laundry every Saturday to 4 hours, this washer/dryer has given me back my weekends! No problems whatsover, I strongly recommend it.

We bought this washer and the 7.3 cu. ft. steam dryer a month ago. We replaced a 10 year old top load set I bought new. I can't believe how much I love this LG set. The washer is super quiet and you can put a lot of towels or jeans in and they spin out much drier than with a top load. Also, I've noticed new clothes don't fade after one wash like they did with my top load. Some of the preset cycles are very long, so we use speed wash on most items. I used to soak whites (underwear, sox) in Clorox 2 overnight and then wash on hot in my top load so it's taken some changes with the new washer. I now wash whites as night and use the sanitary cycle. I still presoak in Clorox 2 by pushing the presoak button, and also push the extra rinse button. This takes about 2 hrs. and 45 minutes total, but I set it to delay the wash until after midnight so the clothes are ready for the dryer when I get up. I have also used the Allergiene cycle on our small dog bed and dog blankets and they come out smelling great. It's amazing that the washer uses such a small amount of water but our clothes have come out clean and they smell much better than with our old set. I think they get rinsed better because our clothes just look cleaner and crisper. New clothes used to fade after one wash with my old set but they don't fade with this washer and dryer. I totally recommend this washer and dryer set and the pedestals. I'm 5-2 and with the pedestals the doors are directly in front of me so I don't have to bend or reach. We store detergent in the pedestals and it saves space. Some people have complained about vibration but we haven't had any problem with that. Our set is on a concrete floor. Very quiet, even when spinning and the "buzzer" is so pleasant. Love, love, love this set!
Yes, I recommend this product.

We purchased this washer with the matching pedistal 3 weeks ago and have tried everything it has to offer. The only problem is it wobbles and vibrates terribly. I think it has to do with the center of gravity when sitting on the pedistal. It is installed on a ground floor here...I just couldn't imagine what the noise and vibration would be like if on a second story! Great product. Great features. But needs a little more engineering in my opinion.
No, I do not recommend this product.

My husband and I have been dreading our old Kenmore washing machine dying for the last couple of months. It finally burned up a couple of days ago, it was inevitable. We chose the LG steamwasher because of the advantages of the set. It has a matching dryer with the steam option. What has impressed me the most upon using this washing machine is how well it does its job. My husband currently works as a mechanic. His jeans get covered in grease, grime, marks from tires, etc. This is the kind of thing that just doesn't seem to come out. I just added two pair of these jeans to a load. I pretreated as the instructions advise but I didn't expect them to come out looking just as clean as the other jeans in the wash. I was shocked. I kept checking because I thought I had picked up the wrong pair. Nope, they were just clean. What a shock. To wash one's clothing and it actually be clean. Oh, and I can hardly tell that the washing machine is even running. My husband installed it. We used a laser level and got it to within 1/16 of an inch level all around. It is incredibly quiet and our laundry room is not the most level place around. I went straight out and bought HE detergent for it. The controls are very easy to see and to use. The chime is very pleasant too. I was a little leery of the cost, but we both really wanted the steam option. I just hope that it holds up over time especially with all of the electronics. With this kind of investment you can't afford to just run out and buy another one.
Yes, I recommend this product.

This product has more Bells and Whistles than i need, but it is well worth it. Really impressed with this LG front load washer. we also have the matching dryer. really worth the money!! we also got the pedestals for these machines. These are a must unless stacking. pricey, but your back will love you for it. This unit does not use alot of water, i could not believe the difference from a top loading machine. Plus LG has made the machine easy to operate and it looks like a airplane cockpit with all the bright lites. WELL WORTH THE MONEY, clothes are so much cleaner.
Yes, I recommend this product.
