After trashing my gazillionth boombox working/doing-yard-work/camping, I decided to try one of these.
While I thought the box store boomboxes were a cheap alternative, in retrospect I prolly would've saved money if I'd bought one of these long ago, rather than going through so many flimsy boomboxes made out of brittle plastic.
I love this thing!! It doesn't have a lot of fancy features, but the sound is better than I expected. It sounds good enough and plays just loud enough to be heard over the typical dinn of whatever's going on. It won't rock a house or whatever, but that's not it's role.
It is GREAT to have that second charger around for my Dewalt cordless tools, and it's even better that I can run this thing off one of the Dewalt battpacks.
It has proven to be very durable, which is the main reason I bought it.
One of the first things to get trashed on radios/boomboxes is the antenna.
This thing has a a pretty sturdy antenna, but it does NOT stay out of the way when it is stowed. It tends to come loose a little and that exposes it to being trashed.
So I took some self-adhesive hook&loop stuff and made arrangements that hold both ends (the multiply-pivoted end and the free end) against the body of the thing. The good part is that so far the reception has been good enough that I haven't needed to leave the antenna unsecured.
At times I do wish it had more features (like a CD player or a tone knob or an EQ.)
However, all those fancy-schmancy features are usually the first things that get trashed, often the CD player or muck getting into (eq etc) sliders.
The Dewalt does have an AUX input which is not all that common on boomboxes and is a nice feature. It allows me to feed my iPod into it (if I'm comfortable using my iPod in the environment), and I also sometimes feed it a signal from a cheap "walkman" CD player or a cheapie mp3 player I have laying around.
All in all this thing is just what the doc ordered... Ruggedized and easy to tote, what it gives up in features and so forth it more than makes up for in good sound, durability, having the Dewalt battpack charger available, and also running off a Dewalt battpack if there's no AC.
Overall, two sore thumbs up!!!!
Yes, I recommend this product.

I got this for my boyfriend for his birthday. He had it for two days and on the third day it broke down on him. He tried plugging it in every outlet at work and at the house and the radio still didn't work. Other than that, he did like the radio when it was fuctioning. Unfortunately, the radio I ordered for him had a defect?
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have a DeWalt cordless drill thak comes with a spare battery. The HD Radio Charger allows me to keep my spare battery charged (while plugged in) and listen to music. Good sound and no interference while charging. Radio works well when un-plugged and working off of battery.
Yes, I recommend this product.
