Works fine even though manually retractable. Color was exactly as we expected, which is not always the case. Saved a bundle over a similar Sun Setter awning.

We had all the brochures and a fancy DVD from other companies… This is the BEST PRICE!
And the Shipping, QUALITY-fabric, hardware, instructions- Wonderful!
We have siding and a deck in full sun-but not anymore! Looks Great. We cut three, 4"x 4" squares from the siding for each end and the middle-once we had determined stud locations from the inside walls. Cut 4" x 4" wooden plates to fit into those openings and mount ed them with screws to the studs; Then we mounted the enclosed bracket holders-three-to these wooden squares. Caulked around the squares and painted the wood white-to match the brackets. Took about 45 minutes. Two of us lifted the awning up into place to make sure it was going to fit -we adjusted one of the wooden mounting squares -lifted the awning again and 'bumped it ' into the bracket slots, bolted in place. AT THIS POINT-the awning may seem too flat for rain to run off so RE READ the directions about how to 'Adjust the Pitch'. That adjustment is on the front of the bracket-the Instructions are Very clear on this- a simple adjustment. IF you must hire a handyman it should take him no longer than 1-2 hours of his time-He will need help lifting the awning up into the slots on the brackets. GET THIS!

The awning is manufactured Well / Sturdy. The fabric seems durable, and the frame is strong. I feel good knowing that the mounting brackets will hold.
Did not come with screws to mount brackets. Bolts that came with brackets to hold awning in place would not clear the awning. Even after extending the awning to the fully opened position, the bolts would not clear the cylinder that the awning wraps around. Had to slip bolts in from the bottom of the brackets (not as directed), and use a special tool to wratchet the nut on top; barely clears fabric when awning is closed. Contacted customer service from Awntec, and they assured me that the install was fine, as long as the bolts clear the fabric. A little frusterated that I could not install as per the directions.
Yes, I recommend this product.

This product performs well and was easy to install, but it's difficult to put the bracket bolts in place. We installed the center bracket bolt and then extended the awning enough to install the bolts in the end brackets.
Pros: Beautiful Appearance, Sturdy, Easy to Install, Great Value, Well Made, Good Size & Fit, High Quality

5 days after installation, the cheap plastic square toe that turns the main torsion roller bar cracked into many pieces (see attached picture) when retracting the awning via the hand crank. I called Awntech customer service. They were helpful quickly sending out a replacement part. It was not easy having to replace the square toe since the left side of my awning is in a tight space and involved removing the awning from the brackets, especially after having paid for initial installation. The awning could not be retracted via the hand crank at the time, so it was a big hassle to have to manually retract and tie off with ropes to prevent the bars from springing loose during the repair process. After replacing the part, the hand crank still seems very tight when retracting the awning back in. I'm concerned that I will have the same issue with the square toe cracking into pieces again. I will return for a full refund if this happens again. On a positive note, the awning does look nice and provides much needed shade from the afternoon sun which is the over all objective of the awning. I'm just disappointed in the poor design & quality of the awning considering what I paid plus installation charges.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I had some installation snags. One is that they tell you to place the mounting brackets anywhere within 1 foot of the ends. But that is not correct. You need to see where their brackets (awning to bar) are and work around those. Also, they say to put the nut on the bottom for the mounting, but that is not possible since the roller blocks getting the screw in from the top. So, nut has to be on top. Risk is that if nut falls off, the bolt will drop out.I used thread-lock to make sure it stays put but I also put a spring clip over the threads above the bottom bracket arm so bolt will stay even if nut drops off.
The other issue for me was a problem with the wall where I was installing. I did not have studs near the wall due to a false wall at that point (with a big header beam above). So, I needed to create spanning wood to make it work. Their support guy verified my approach and so I can say they do support their product and well.
Other than that, it went well and looks and works great.
As someone else noted: will open easily but takes more effort to retract.
Yes, I recommend this product.

For the money it is very poorly constructed. The cylinder mechanism that retracts the awning is constructed of PLASTIC!! What was this manufacturer thinking? It snapped with the weight of the awning after only 3 weeks of use. Needless to say, my husband and I were very disappointed and it was a real hassle getting it down to return to the store, since it broke in the open position.
Pros: Beautiful Appearance
Cons: Quality

I did a ton of research before purchasing a retractable awning and I loved the price. I have had this awning in use five days a week on my airstream trailer and I have found nothing to complain about. Stop looking and buy this awning, you won't regret it!

Got this on sale for $650 w/shipping. Some parts weren't aligned exactly, and the parts aren't the highest quality, but it was half the price of a Sunsetter.
