Just used (4/7/2013) this on a wall of our house that gets little direct sunlight and had ~8 yrs of mold on vinyl siding.
This product Does work (as per its instructions) but anticipate using 1 bottle per/1,000 sf and anticipate using a soft bristle brush to help remove the staining. You'll need multiple applications on anything but the lightest of mold areas. Although I had no mold above ~16', be aware that the spray would barely reach to ~20'. Also, the solution-selector knob (great idea) needs redesign as it is difficult to turn especially when pressurized. I have a nicely scraped knuckle (even through lightweight gloves) from turning it.
With the caveats I mention above, it does remove the mold.
I purchased this product to clean a white house with black trim. Well truth be told the house hadn't been washed in a VERY long time (previous owners) so I had my doubts as to whether this product would remove mold, dirt, clay, bugs, etc. This house was SO BRIGHT AND CLEAN when I was finished the whole neighborhood was AMAZED. I will NEVER use ANYTHING ELSE.
Pros: Cost Effective, Easy to Use, High Quality, Fast Results, Long-Lasting, Effective
I bought this to clean my vinyl 1 story home and it worked extremely well at removing ALL mold. I only had to scrub a few really dirty spots but this product cleaned 95% of the mold off of my home. It is a patented bleach based formula that got all over me when washing and didn't mess me or anything up lol.
Important tip** It is NOT necessary to turn your hose on HIGH to use this product. I just barely put mine on because I noticed the nozzle makes it shoot extremely far. A LIGHT soak of this product is all that is necessary, turning your hose on high will drain and waste more prodcut VERY VERY quickly. Just keep the hose low and move swiftly and everything will be cool. Make sure you shake it up too before use.
Pros: Easy to Clean, Lots of Features, Easy to Use, High Quality, Easy to Install, Looks Great, Good Size & Weight, Nice Design
This won't do quite the same job a pressure washing will. But it won't do the damage a pressure washer can do, either. Plus, it's much easier than the exertion required to lug a pressure washer around. And for folks with arthritis, fibromyalgia or other limiting conditions, you don't have to squeeze a trigger and hold it in place the entire time as you do with a pressure washer. Just attach the garden hose, turn on the water, and aim!
This solution does a very good job washing away algae, mildew and general dust & dirt. And it could hardly be easier to use. However, I found that it only covered about half the area promised on the label. But that could be faulty user technique, not the product. ;-)
Pros: Cost Effective, Easy to Use, High Quality, Effective
I usually expect less than promised, but in this case I am delighted with this product. It works as advertised and the dirt and algae just washed away! Buy an extra bottle though, it doesn't go as far as you would think and needed a second pass in a few spots. Overall very pleased.
Pros: Cost Effective, Easy to Use, Fast Results, Effective
Worked great and will buy again, just know not to listen to packaging how much it covers. I purchased 3 hose end bottles to do a 1400 sq ft vinyl sided house and needed to buy 4 more bottles to complete the job.
Was very easy to use, and did just as good a job as if I used the power washer. Took around 3 hrs, cost around $70.00 in materiel and the house looks brand new again.
Will definitely use next spring.
Pros: Easy to Remove, Easy to Use, Fast Results, Packaging
I was thinking of renting a pressure washer to clean my dirty sidings but a friend recommended this cleaner. It could not have been easier. Simply spray the house, let it sit and rinse off. There was no hassle of using a pressure washer and worrying about water getting behind the vinyl.
Have vinyl siding on the 2nd story of our house. Shook the bottle, attached to hose, and sprayed on. Waited 10 minutes and voila, 5 year old mold stains are gone. Remarkable! I was afraid it wouldn't reach that far but it did. This stuff works.
Had to apply a second application on stubborn areas (with no scrubbing) and it did the job.
the only problem I had was it wouldn't stick to/clean the gutters. It seems like it needs a larger piece to stick to (like a wall) for it to penetrate. Just my observation, no big deal for me.
Just a helpful note, like I said, I only have siding on the 2nd floor, brick on the 1st. make sure you also rinse off the 1s fl. windows. Got too excited looking above and forgot to do this. now the lower windows have water spots that I have to clean manually.....I'm so smart!
Pros: Easy to Remove, Immediate Results, Cost Effective, Easy to Use, High Quality, Fast Results, Packaging, Effective
I rated this product 4 stars and not 5 because the delivery system needs to be improved. Also the directions of starting on the bottom of your cleaning project needs to change also. I started on the top of my vinyl siding and started spraying it section at a time. Let the product work like they said and then hosed it off. The product works great on the lower levels but when you need to do the second floor the sprayer does not generate enough power to reach it. Had to break out the ladder to get to the top of the second floor. Also as you are using up the product the cleaning ability starts to go down. You really don't get the entire coverage like they state on the bottle. It does clean, but the coverage and the power nosel on the soap side does not have the power to reach the second floor.
Pros: Easy to Use, Fast Results
Cons: ineffective, wash cycle does not reach the second floor.
I bought this stuff to kill moss that had been growing all over my stone hut. It did the trick, although the moss took its sweet time in dying, and a good portion of it stuck to the roof (which the bottle actually acknowledges). After a few months, the moss is not to be seen, so I cant complain really. My main criticism is that the bottle didnt last long. I sprayed about 400 sq ft before it ran dry...
I followed the instructions exactly and the product did nothing. The algae on my siding wasn't even that bad. I could rub it off with a finger without applying much pressure. This product did not work at all. Don't waste your money. Just use some bleach diluted with water and save $9.00 and a trip to Home Depot.
Upon connecting, there was leakage, even though I don't think there was any cross threading or lack of torque with the connection. Eventually got it to work with no leaks.
This product worked! Brought the moldy facade of my house (vinyl) back to life. Very clean and bright again. Had to use multiple applications (2-3), though, so the product got depleted quicker than desired. But, still MUCH, MUCH cheaper than hiring someone to power wash.
The pressure that comes from using the in-line connection is not really hard enough, thus the requirement for multiple applications of the product: It's the chemical reaction of the product, more than the mechanical action of the sprayer, that removes the mold...
Product not caustic at all, so any that got on me did not burn. Very impressed with the product's effectiveness.
Pros: Easy to Remove, Immediate Results, Easy to Use, High Quality, Fast Results, Effective
I used this product in the spring for mold and algae build up. It reached to the 3rd floor attic window frame easily. I had to apply a bit more product in heavily stained area's, however the result's were awesome! The siding looked brand new! Going to get some more tomorrow for an early spring clean up! So happy with this product!
The contrast between the old vinyl siding and the new vinyl siding I recently installed during a remodeling project was glaring, even though the siding was exactly the same brand, style, and color. Since a lot of the dull and dirty siding was on the second floor, this hose-end spray product looked like a winner. As advertised, even with my less-than-stellar water pressure, the built-in nozzle got the product up well over twenty-five feet off the ground. After allowing the product to soak a bit, just turn the switch on the bottle to the "rinse" position, and off comes the dust, dirt, grime, and most of the mildew. Frankly, the mildew did need a little light scrubbing, but overall, the product worked very well. Please read the directions carefully, and do as I did to be safe - wear a face shield or at the least, goggles. This is a strong product, and you don't want to accidentally get any into your eyes.
I was planning on hiring someone to pressure wash the mold and algae on the side of my house until I did a web search on removing mold and algae from vinyl siding. I came across this product and decided to give it a try after reading all the good reviews.
I am completely satisfied with the results! A lot cheaper than paying someone over $200 to pressure wash it! I did one side of my 2-story home and it took 2 hours. Just like others have said, plan on buying more bottles than what is recommended to complete the job. For now on, I will be using this product every year.
Pros: Immediate Results, Cost Effective, Easy to Use, High Quality, Fast Results, Long-Lasting, Effective
The product itself is great!! I used it on our vinyl siding and metal gutters and downspouts. It cleaned them spotlessly without any scrubbing. The only problem I had was with the bottle dispenser. After I attached it to the hose and turned on the water, the nozzle blew off and would never stay on. Because the reviews about the cleaning power were so good, I mixed the cleaner with water in a garden sprayer and used it anyway with fantastic results.
Bought two bottles of this, as I have a larger house. Just like someone already mentioned, unless its a very light mold area, you will need a little bit of brushing. Still not a big deal. I did have on area on the back of my house with a thick, dark green algae stain...it took that off with no issues. What I did was buy two bottles and basically use one for the front and sides and one bottle for the back. I could not be happier. Took me 2 hours and cost less than 20 dollars to have my siding looking like new. I had the siding installed 5 years ago and this was the first time I had cleaned it in 5 years. Probably would have been even easier had I not waited so long. I plan to do this now once every summer and this is the product I would use without question.
