4-Station SST400i Indoor Simple-to-Set Irrigation Timer
This indoor-mounted timer is so easy to use you can forget the instructions. Its intuitive zone-by-zone scheduling allows you to set watering times differently for each area of the yard, providing greener results with less water. By turning the dial to each zone, you can easily set more or less watering for full sun and shaded areas, or water slopes and clay soils in short intervals to allow water to soak in, avoiding runoff. You can also set different timing and frequency of pop-up sprays vs. rotor zones and customize watering of trees and landscaped areas in Drip zones. Each zoneâs setting can be reviewed easily in one view with a turn of the dial. Color coded terminals make it easy to connect zone wires as well as master valves, pump start relays or a rain sensor. Just strip wires and push in to connect â no screwdriver needed.

After years of struggling with timers that were frustrating to work with and difficult-to-understand programming, this timer sounded ideal and it was. It literally took just minutes to switch it out, re-connect wires, and program our 4 zones. It makes sense! The fact it does not have a battery backup is minor--it does not lose programming, so things will get watered after an outage, regardless. Just maybe slightly off on the times it starts--the ease of use negates that. Highly recommended for the basic home gardener!

Cons: no battery backup for time and date

Only problem is if you want to run a whole cycle of system you can not just start with zone 1 to run all after each other need to manual run a cycle

I used to call my gardener to set up this, never thought that they come up with this friendly user interface on a sprinkler timer for normal people to operate on it.

I was kind of nervous installing a timer because I didn't have a clue how to. This timer was so easy to install and program. Instructions are straight forward. There's really nothing else to it. Installed in June 2010 and so far no issues at all.

This unit was very easy to install and is all you should need except for one major problem, there ie no battery back up. Every time the power goes off you will have to reset the time and date, it held the water settings. I hate to take it back to Home Depot but you gotta do what you gotta do.
No, I do not recommend this product.
