Excellent Wet/Dry Vac. Well designed, good instructions, and easy to assemble. Very mobile; tall handle and large rear wheels make it easy to get up & down stairs, and through doorways. The handle and wheels made it possible for me to buy the larger (16gal.) vacuum. Cloth tool tray hold all accessories ready to use.
If you do a lot of wet vacuuming, I'd recommend the RIDGID Hose to Drain adapter, and possibly the RIDGID pump.

I use this vac to vacuum cars day in and day out and it does a great job. There isn't a good place to put all the additional hoses, but overall I am very satisfied with this product.

I've used this product once so far to cleanup construction debri in my basement and I was very impressed. The unit is quiet and the suction is excellent; picking up wood chips, sawdust, pebbles, concrete chips, dust, insulation and other debri without hesitation. The wheel base is stable and the wheels roll smoothly. The main hose clips into the housing which keeps it nicely in place when pulling around by the hose. Attachments are sufficient for multiple applications and the storage bag is convenient. Also, the filter and muffler/difuser do a nice job at keeping dust blowout in check.
I have yet to use this unit to vaccuum up water but the lower drain plug looks to be a nice design improvement over older shop vacs I've had.
My only critique would be to add similar locking clips on each hose extender and attachment to keep each peice as secure as the primary hose/housing coupling; though the attachments seemed to stablize with additional use.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I purchased one of these at the local Home Depot to replace an old "other brand" and so far I only have a few complaints. First off let me say that the suction is just fine so long as the filter is clean but it does clog quickly if you are vacuuming sawdust from a table or miter saw. This isn't a huge drawback as most shopvacs have the same problem, but the filter on this vacuum is easier to clean than many others. My bigest complaint is the difficulty in empytying the vac. It is pretty much a two peson job and don't expect to do it without removing the handle or you will be sweeping lots of the sawdust off the floor. The only other very minor thing is the power cord. After 6 months it's still stiff as a board. They really should use a better quality (different material). Overall It's not a bad vac but I don't believe I'd buy it again. The metal version I suspect would eliminate the emptying issue I have with it and if I were to do it over I'd spend the extra $ and by that unit.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Powerful vac, I use it to suck dust from a CNC machine. One I had before with identical specs was weak. I had another smaller Rigid and that one sucked far better than the big one I had, so I dumped it and got this one. This thing can suck a golf ball through the hose.
With the other one, I could safely vacuum right up to my lose router bits, they would barely move. This one I have to be careful, cause it'll suck them right up, and through 15 ft of hose. I vacuumed some dust out of my shop keyboard, had it about 6 inches away and it sucked the keyboard right to the hose, I was shocked it was so powerful. With the other one, I could vac right up to the keys.
So this is a good unit, not all that noisy. Head does get a bit hot, but as long as it keeps on sucking like this, I'm not complaining.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Both of them are hooked to a Vortex container to segregate big peices of material and help keep the filter clean. Noise level is good and they operate in conjunction with both tools with the activation switch. I would reccommend this vacuum. Delivery was quick and box was delivered in good shape. Assembly was simple and the four wheel idea with a handle was smart.

I bought this vac after a hurricane hit our area and our basement got flooded. You can really tell the difference in suction between this unit and the 5HP. We vacuumed the water from our basement carpet, which was an indoor/outdoor carpet and completely flooded. The vac was so powerful that it sucked up all the water making the carpet barely damp, almost completely dry. The wheels make it easy to move it around even when it is full. Also the bottom drain is handy for emptying it out without having to tilt it. Definitively recommended.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Thank you Ridgid for standing behind your lifetime warranty. I sent them a 20 gal vac where the bearings had worn out around the motor shaft. It cost me $16 to return the motor head to Ridgid for inspection. Since they no longer have a 20 gal I was interested in seeing what they would send me on a 16 gal. My 20 gal had 2 1/2" connectors. The newer 16 gal units have 2 choices. Smaller 1 7/8" connectors and the 2 1/2" on this vacuum I am reviewing. Ridgid did the right thing and gave me the better vacuum plus an extra filter to cover my shipping costs to them. Great warranty and great service. I had the replacement vacuum in less than weeks.

I bought this vac because I needed to clean up a lot of dry wall dust. It worked great for this purpose. At this time I haven't used it for anything else. High scores right now. Haven't tried to vac any water yet. I suspect it would work just as well. Highly recommend

I've tried two heavy duty vacuum cleaners for my shop (1) Shop-Vac 9633400 6.5-Peak HP Ultra Pro Series; and (2) Craftsman 16 gal. Wet-Dry Vac, 6.0 Peak hp. I returned both of them once I found out about Rigid and how much more suction it has. Purchase this vacuum, you'll love it.

I bought my first one of these about 3 years ago it is used commercially and we have given it massive amounts of use and abuse. It has great suction, is amazingly quiet and a great buy. It rolls easily when pulled by the hose which is very important in what we use it for. We extended the hose by attaching a 50 foot pool cleaning hose and it still has more than enough suction to pick up water. It has fallen off of a loading dock a few times and the only thing that has finally broken is the mount for the wheels.

I really like this wet/dry vacuum. The powerful suction is great and it also is very easy to maneuver with it being on more of a cart that just 4 wheels. The motor on this model is a lot quieter than on others we have had. The bag that attaches to the handle is nice for storing the accessories. I am very happy with this model.

After owning this model for a while the suction really dropped off. Changing the filter and making sure the hoses were tight did not improve things. It literally couldn't pick up a leaf off the cellar floor.
I took off the impeller housing (8 screws or so) and found the problem. The unit was unplugged by the way - Do the same. There was a section of foam that was jammed in the exhaust port. This foam was apparently glued around the impeller circumference to reduce noise. When the adhesive failed it was blown into the exhaust port blocking airflow. I just tossed it, re-assembled it and all was fine.
Hope this helps the next guy. Otherwise I like the unit.
