I looked a long time to find an affordable, heavy duty, portable vac that would capture dust when in use. This was critical for my business. The RIGID finally solved my problem, especially with the internal filter system. The price was right and it really has plenty of suction. Really like the on-board storage compartment for the cord and hose!

This seems to be a good vacuum with a very small footprint for storage which is my reason for the purchase. It does well for vehicles, and misc. vacuuming needs but it might get cumbersome if doing big areas-(no wheels, you have to manually move it around). All in All it is exactly what I was looking for in a compact.

This vac is handy size, with good but basic tools included, long cord, acceptable noise level. So far I have used it mainly for electrical jobs around the house so it has handled wood chips and dust, drywall and plaster crumbs and dust, insulation stripped from wires, bits of copper wire, cellulose wall insulation, and other debris. I like the fact that all the accessories fit inside the package for storage and transport, except the two rigid hose section which snap on to somewhat flimsy plastic brackets on the side. Variable suction control via a sliding collar is a good feature when used on carpet to prevent the nozzle from grabbing too much. So far, I haven't missed having wheels. Not sure why Home Depot does not stock in stores anymore. For about $100, it's not the cheapest model in this size range, but seems better built than some of the other Ridgid or Shopvac models.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I repair central vacuum systems (built-in home vacuum systems). Having a professional appearance is important for my business as well as a cleaning device that can handle the clean ups of the unit without sending clouds of dust in the air. I was skeptical at first, as the suction was only about the same as an upright of canister vacuum as compared to a central vacuum, but it is doing the trick just great. The only downfall for me is that the slinky type extension hose is tight and not as flexible as I would prefer. Maybe in time is will stretch out some. Other than this, I would highly recommend this unit to the professional for those small clean ups or the handy person to use around the shop or home.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I was looking for a vac to supplement my 12 gal shop vac that was too large to be lugging all over the place. This vac works great for those times I don't need the big one. Compact design, long cord, great suction and on-board storage all add up to make this a great little vac. I read reviews where some complained about this having no wheels. It doesn't need any as its light enough to hold and will slide along most surfaces.
Yes, I recommend this product.

This is a powerful wet dry vac which is easy to store. Everything fits into the case which looks like a tool box. We had a nearly disastrous red wine spill on a beige carpet. I used the vacuum to pull out most of the wine and then treated it with carpet cleaner, continuing to vacuum until the carpet looked like new.

In the workshop, a 16 gallon W/D vac handles the load, but when I work around the house and in the vehicles that big monster is heavy, awkward, and most of all-too loud. Now that I have had a chance to work the Rigid 4.5 gallon W/D Vac, it looks like it will meet my requirements. It is small enough to carry through narrow doorways or stairs and not scratch up the walls or woodwork. The power cord is long enough to get the vac to where it is needed. More than enough power to pick up after trim work, clean out the fireplace and vac up the car. This product is intended to be used in close quarters. It has to be quiet enough so that my lousy hearing does not get any worse. I have no measurements to back it up, but it seems to have a lower Db than the other vacuums I have worked with. The sole exception being the old portable Fein. Fein changed the design and put wheels on and ruined it. On a small portable vacuum, wheels are a bad idea. When you use a small portable vacuum, you want the vacuum to stay where you put it and not roll around and bump into the walls and woodwork or scratch the flooring. The large on/off toggle switch makes it easy to turn the vacuum on and off with a poke of the crevice tool or with gloves on. It is a thoughtful design for those with a need of portability in a W/D vacuum. So far I am very happy with my selection.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I am puzzled that this shop vac is no longer carried in the stores. It is one of the most practical and most valuable tools I have ever owned.
It is reliable; The first one I used for 12 years before the hose wore out. Considering the cost of a new hose, I opted to buy a new vacume.
It is practical and well designed; I appreciate the fact that all the attachments are stored inside making them harder to lose, and the cord impossible to get tangled up in other tools or supplies. The squareness of the vacume alows it to store easier in my truck.
Finally, it really performs well while cleaning up after professional home repairs.
Yes, I recommend this product.

My wife thought I was crazy being excited about a shop vac but this unit was more powerful, easier to use, quieter, better filtered and cheaper than my old shop vac which had become unusable. More important is the great design which allows me to use this more places and store it in a third the area.

I bought this because of its advertised suction and size of the hose. It is everything and more than advertised. I love the flexible hose and the convenience the tool box design offers. It is easy to store, set up, clean out, what more could a person ask for? It isn't any noisyer than any other vacuum I've used. This is the first RIDGID product I have owned. I may look at more.

The design is brilliant. Perfect for the contractors truck or the suburbanite's SUV, this thing really sucks! (in the good way). It has tool and cord storage built in, and most of all the toolbox style design makes it delightful to use. I wish they still had these in stores. Get it while you can! You won't regret this purchase.

Most people don't consider shop vacs to be very portable but this one is the exception to the rule. Has power to rival larger shop vacs with the HUGE plus of being portable. Work's great for any project around the house. The blower function is plenty powerful for clearing leaves from your driveway. No noticeable cons after owning it for 1 month.
