This humidifer appears to be efficient in raising the humidity in my house. I placed it in the center of the house near a hallway so the humidity could be shared thorought the house. The product description is misleading since the product only holds two tankfuls of water (7.8) gallons of water and not 12 gallons. The water tank is somewhat awkward to fill.

We live in the high desert of Wyoming and have very low humidity. Our house is 3,800 sq. ft. (upper level and finished basement) and has a closed boiler system. I bought this unit based on reviews here to replace a smaller unit that quit working and don't know when I've been so happy with a product. We've had the unit a couple of months.
It is very easy to fill by laying horizontally on the center divider in the kitchen sink and swinging the spout over the opening. The tank's carry handle makes it easy to transport to the unit.
We ran the unit on high when we first got it to get the humidity up. Now, I refill twice per day and the unit keeps the humidity at 35-40% on the low setting which is very quiet.

Simple humidifier. The price for these things is a little crazy for how simple they are, but it's all the brands, so I won't hold it against this model. There's a bobber in it that pushes on a switch, and that's how it knows if it needs refilled. On mine, the bobber had a hole in the bottom where it wasn't supposed to be, so it filled with water and stopped floating. That made it think it needed refilled. If that happens to you, just blow in the hole on top until all the water is out, then put a piece of tape over the top hole (the one that is supposed to be there) and no air can get out. No air out, no water in. Problem solved.

Convenient setup. Recommends cleaning every 2 weeks. But it is noisier than I expected. Even at the lowest setting it is too loud for a TV room. Not sure why a fan has to be so loud.

I bought this humidifier because it had a good test rating by Consumer Reports. Although the humidifier is noise on high fan setting. I run the fan on low setting and it does a good. So far very pleased with the humidifier.

I debated the merits of this design and more traditional faux wood cabinet boxes. Now I am happy with this choice. The plastic case may be a weak point but plastic does not rust. A big clumsy dog or a curious kid might dislodge the water tank but I 've come to appreciate its elegent simplcity. This is quite easy to fill. This sits unobtrusively and, using the slow fan setting, is able to keep my 2,000 sq ft. house at 55%.

The humidifier only operates at low speed, or high speed -- the middle speed(s) do not work [the fan just stops].
I contacted Tech Support at Essick, and they acknowledged that I had a real problem and suggested I return the unit to the store. It humidifies very well. On balance, I decided to keep the unit and not go thru the hassle of repacking and returning it to Home Depot and getting a replacement. But I appreciate the option of doing so.

It works very good. It is keeping the humidity around 45. It is humidifying a large area. I fill up the tank 4 times a day. Would like a easier tank to fill. Over all this is a very good buy and would get another one if needed.

I read all of these reviews and that's why I purchased this model. It doesn't seem to be as good as I thought.
We have dry winters in Oklahoma and I wanted to alleviate the sinus infections and static everywhere.
I have a 2100 sqft home with 2 air returns, the unit supports 2900sqft. The unit sits in a hallway with one of the air returns. I keep it around 40% humidity. I leave it on the lowest speed because anything higher it is just too loud. Which I thought it wouldn't be that loud after reading some reviews. Also I still have lots of static even with higher than suggested humidity settings. I guess to achieve the settings I need I have to put it on a higher fan setting but the noise is too much.
So it may work with higher fan speeds but I think I may bite the bullet and put in a central humidifier which will cost about $800+.

I almost bought a humidifier that was twice the price of this one but had a better design. I'm glad I didn't. This humidifier works really well, is simple to keep filled, doesn't coat things in white dust, humidifies my whole 1,000 square foot loft, and is very well priced.

The first one I received was defective. I returned it for replacement. The second one does the job. It is quiet enough when operated at its lowest speed, and at that speed provides a full 4 gallons of moisture in 24 hours in low humidity conditions.

This product seems to be well-made. It does a good job of humidifying the air in our home. Our only complaint seems to be that it's a little awkward to roll from room to room where we have to cross over a threshold. Larger casters would be an improvement. Happy with this purchase.

There don't seem to be a lot of options when buying a large humidifier. Based on reviews, I bought this one. It had (note past tense) the following qualities: Lowest fan speed was bearable, can't imagine using the higher two because of the roaring noise. Quite ugly and flimsy, but easy to set up. Held enough water for a couple of days (bedroom with forced hot air is very dry) when tank was used to fill it twice as directed.
During it's second winter, its electronics failed. The LED panel flashed a couple of times before blanking out. According to the website, warranty periods have expired. I guess I am not supposed to say what competitor's model I formerly owned (begins with "K"). That one spoiled me by running for 10 years until major pieces started to fall off. Think I will get another of those if available...
To sum up, worked OK until its premature death.

While i like it and it seems like a good product. it's really too early to tell. some things like this really should wait. i've only used it for a few days now that the weather has gotten colder. ask me in March.
The low speed is quiet and probably all you need. The 2 highest speeds are probably meant to just catch up quickly. don't try to relax while they are roaring.

This humidifier seems a tad flimsy when you first take it out of the box, but once it's all together it's sturdy enough, easy to operate, and is actually doing its primary function of keeping the humidity up in a 1000sq ft + area just fine. We keep it set at 45 and it was two weeks before we needed to refill it. Would definitely recommend this humidifier -- don't bother with a bunch of small ones all over your house.
