I have been using a front loading washing machine for 10 years. My previous washer was a Maytag Nepture and the parts began to wear out after approximately 7 years of use. I finally had to replace it.
I purchased the LG Front Loader SteamWasher on May 1, 2009 and I couldn't be more pleased with the performance of this machine. It is quiet, very litte vibration, and the clothes come out so clean smelling. I really like the Steam Freshing cycle to remove wrinkles - I hate to iron.
I am following the directions very carefully for maintaining the machine. You have to wipe down the door and rubber seal after you are finished washing for the day and leave the door open. This keeps the mildew away. There is a drain/filter located on the front bottom of the machine to drain every 2 weeks - very easy to do.
I would recommend this machine.

A very good pair

We got the pair of LG the Washer and Dryer last week.
Model for Washer is the 4.5 cu. ft. HE SteamWasher (WM3001HWA) and a LG 7.4 cu. Electric Steam Dryer.
We had a pair of Kenmore Elite before. The new LGs compare with our old Kenmore Elite.
The dryer's noise level is about the same with my old Kenmore Elite. But I felt I got more static than my old Kenmore Elite.
The washer's noise level is much lower the old Kenmore Elite. People will barely notice that it was working while we watch TV. (I put them side by side on the concrete floor.)
Cons:
Price expensive
Require HE detergent
Since it saves energy and water, of course there is a tradeoff. It’s using more time. The washing time is longer my old Kenmore Elite.

The only reason I gave them a 4 not 5 is that I only have them one week. I don’t know their stability and services quality.
