The Winix PlasmaWave Air Cleaner Model 5300 features 3 stages of air cleaning to capture and neutralize a broad range of indoor pollutants quietly and efficiently. The HEPA filter captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns in size, the carbon pre-filter absorbs odors and VOC's (volatile organic chemicals), and the PlasmaWave plasma generator attacks airborne pollutants at the molecular level. A built-in air quality sensor provides "set-and-forget" operation by adjusting the fan speed automatically. Suitable for very large rooms: clean air delivery rate of more than 350 square feet.

I had this air purifier unit for almost a month now and it worked great. I turned to the highest level every time when I am in the kitchen cooking at home, within less than 5-10 minutes I can tell the difference between good/bad airs in my kitchen when using Winix 5300. For a regular day if not cooking at home I set it to the lowest level to run all day - all night just to keep the fresh airs inside of my house. So my wife and little princess can breathe better. Best price to pay for it plus free shipping. I would recommend this product to friends and family.

I have never used an air purification machine before, but it is great. I could tell a difference very quickly. Machine was like white noise the first night and then apparently after getting the room air right it is completely silent except when I have just put on perfume and walk into the room. Then it kicks up for a minute and back to silent,so Iknow the ordor exliminator works well too.

Excellent. This item is positioned in the hall, near the bedrooms, however when I enter my home I can smell the difference cleaner air has on the entire house. Performs quietly - sleep mode is great! Priced right, I'm totally pleased. Though there are no handles, it can be hugged and lifted with ease.

This air purifier works exactly as advertised! On "Auto," it senses when pollutants are in the air--pollen through a screened door or window, or molds (maybe just the humidity) after a shower. I have very sensitive hearing, and the lowest Auto setting is so quiet I can't hear it during the day even with no music or TV going; at night, the Sleep setting is inaudible. And--proof of the pudding--I'm sneezing only rarely during the days and sleeping without waking up to cough.
Call me One Happy Customer!

We purchased the True HEPA Air Cleaner to place near our pellet stove to capture some of the dust and smoot that comes out of the stove. We found that once we got the air cleaner placed in the right angle, it works well. It captures alot of the particles that were in the air. We highly recommend this.

Easy to clean, easy to change filters.Appearance does not stand out like a "sore thumb" but blends well with the rest of the room. Purchased one a little over a year ago for my living room and recently purchased another for my bedroom. Very pleased overall with customer service and shipping. Arrived well packed. I originally purchased as we have a cat for the first time ever and I could smell the cat odor in the house. This cleaner has rid the house of the odor!
The only cons so far are it would be more convenient if it had a handle to easily move from room to room. The other con is it does not have a reusable filter.

This air cleaner was purchased when I found out that I was allergic to our dog (who sleeps in our room). Getting rid of the dog wasn't an option so the air cleaner was the solution. It really does help & doesn't take up much space. It looks much nicer than most air cleaners that I have seen. Highly recommend.

Item pictured clearly shows a remote that fits on the top of the unit. The model you get has a blank plate where it should go. The auto setting sounded like a great feature but is NOT reliable and rarely increases speed when we smoke. Seeing that THAT feature doesn't work, that missing remote would have come in handy! When you compare the price of this unit with similar units, the price is reasonable, however I think ALL air cleaners are priced too high (lets be realistic, you have a filter, a motor with fan, and a box). For people who smoke or people that use air cleaners all the time, the story remains the same: Spend a lot of money, air cleaner works well for a while, spend more money on new filters and after a few years it wears out and you start the cycle again. On the positive side, it is nice and quiet when on low and will move a lot of air on high. I've had my unit for about a month and it still cleans air pretty well (keeping in mind we have to constantly manually change the speed). Compared to similar models I will say that this is a pretty good deal.

this air cleaner seems to have helped quite a bit in our living area, 12x23. it mostly runs very quietly in the background. My eyes used to burn and water in the evenings and now they do not. We have a dog and a cat in the house.

Many trees in this area near the "Blossom Trail" have been blooming for the past several weeks, so the air quality has very high pollen levels. After just 8 days I am totally impressed with this unit in our 13'x14' high-ceiling master bedroom. The air in the room smells and feels cleaner and fresher, so I'm not sneezing at all now. With sales tax, this unit only cost me $0.47 per day for the first 365 days, then $ZERO after that. Although the unit is only 18" wide by 22" tall the carbon and HEPA filters have a large surface area; each are 200 sq. in. (16"x12.5"). The 4-speed fan motor during the night on sleep mode is "whisper" quiet. The 5-stage digital air quality sensor ranges from good (low=green) to medium (orange) to poor (high=red). With the highest prices ever at the fuel pumps these days, I did my due diligence in researching the right unit for the right price. I know I got my bang for the buck!

I just bought this unit a few weeks ago. It is amazing. I noticed a difference in the air quality in my home almost instantly. I have a small home, about 900 sq. ft. this unit has changed the air quality in each room of my home. I would highly recommend this unit to everyone. The only small downside, as someone else mentioned, that it does not have a handle to move it around, although the unit is very light, a handle would make this perfect!! Do not hesitate on this unit, you will love it!! Makes for great nights sleep also! ENJOY!!

I love it, plan to buy another when I can. Gleat value. The lack of a handle is frustrating, although it is possible to add one. I screwed one to the top after partially disassembling the unit. Now it is perfect!

I like this Hepa Air Cleaner. I picked it because it is a TRUE Hepa and relatively easy on the budget. We have two cats but I really didn't want my house to smell like a litter box. We set it up in the room with the litter box and I would never know it's there. My husband has allergies to cats and he hasn't had itchy eyes. The Hepa cleaner itself isn't the quietest purifier but it does it's job and that's more important.

After 6 months, the motor started making a clunking noise when first starting up. A sign the motor bearings are beginning to going out. After 11 months, the on/off button on the control panel stopped working. Just in time to return it for a replacement. Warranty is 12 months. You pay the return shipping, it's not cheap! The replacement is even cheaper quality. No more remote control on the new units! And you cannot turn off the plasma wave feature. I will not buy this brand, again! This 36 year old company has changed for the worst! My next purifier will be an Austin Heathmate. This brand is used by the US government. Both, Civil and Military. Nearly $450.00, but will worth the investment. Has a 7 years full warranty! Is much more powerful and the filter is much better. They also make a Healthmate Jr. for smaller rooms. Cost is about 350.00.

Okay, here's the deal: the unit shown is indeed a 5300 but it's the OLD 5300. The picture shows a remote but the model you will get in the mail does NOT have a remote.
No big deal right? Wrong. The new 5300 without the remote also does not have the ability to turn OFF the "Plasma Wave" technology.
Now, obviously WINIX believes the plasma wave technology is a good thing and should be turned on all the time. Many of us disagree and feel the plasma wave technology may create unhealthy air.
I LOVED the original 5300 and bought a 2nd one and when it arrived I found out the above info (since Home Depot is showing a product that is NOT the one being shipped)!
Here's the info I got from WINIX:
If you want the ability to turn off the Plasma Wave function you have to buy the next model up, the 5500 which is white. It has the remote and ability to turn off the Plasma Wave like the OLD 5300 (the one PICTURED here) did. One advantage to the 5500 is that the main filter in it can be WASHED instead of replacing it. That's something like a $60/year savings so it will pay for itself if it lasts a few years.
If you want the ability to turn off the Plasma Wave function you have to buy the next model up, the 5500 which is white. It has the remote and ability to turn off the Plasma Wave like the OLD 5300 (the one PICTURED here) did. One advantage to the 5500 is that the main filter in it can be WASHED instead of replacing it. That's something like a $60/year savings so it will pay for itself if it lasts a few years.
The other alternative is to buy the 6300 at a competitor's store - it's a proprietary model not available anywhere else except a store that has bed and bath in the title.
Personally I would buy the 5500.
I gave this one only 3 stars because it does not have a way to turn off the plasma wave. To me this is a major flaw and WINIX took a perfect lower priced model and RUINED it.
