The ladder was built with some light wieght material around the frame making the ladder kind of flexible. Hinge is too light wieght and slightly bent after a few uses. Was disaponted in quality for the amount of money spent.

Upon completing installation, the ladder was very sturdy and rigid. Even my wife tried it out and she felt very sure footed.

The hardest part was rounding up two other helpers to hold it in-place while I was in the attic temporarily securing with the strapping. I am very pleased with all aspects of the design, ease of installation, and the finished product after installation. The only disappointment was the insulation. I hope that Louisville will either secure the insulation to the hatch or use a different product to insulate.

Relatively easy one man install with a little planning. Needed extra shims to accomodate the out of square house framing, just something to consider. Overall a very good product for the home, far more stable than wood version.

Very nice product -- meets my needs. Good quality, lightweight aluminum folding ladder for easy attic access. Complete with understandable installation instructions and most installation material (needed shims and casing and I chose to use lag bolts instead of the nails that were supplied). Easily installed in a few hours. Overall a very good value.

My fiance and his father installed this. They are extremely handy. Unfortunately the hinges bent and quit functioning the very first day. All they did was walk up and down a few times carrying some partial sheets of plywood. They are trying to fix it now but what a mess. I was disappointed in the quality.

This seems to be a good ladder and a very good replacement for the wood ladder that I replaced. To make this even better I threw away the low grade nails and used good quality screws to fasten it to the framing. As many folks have pointed out, the manufacturer should glue the insulation panels into place. I did that before I completed the installation using 3M 77 spray adhesive.

My 62 year old wife and i (68years old) had no trouble installing but get online for better instructions don't use the hanging straps instead use boards below the opening to hold ladder up for installation

We bought this to replace our old and untrustworthy wooden ladder system. It was nice to open the box and see that it was mostly all put together, just required adjustment of the leg lengths. The hardest part was getting it into place but was able to do so by myself by using ropes and ascenders from my rock climbing bag. It has been a huge improvement from the wooden ladder. My wife and I have used it several times since to store our Christmas decorations and I liked being able to carry the boxes up and down with confidence on the ladder.

This ladder is lightweight and pulls down very easily. Closing is a snap-literally you hear a snap- when it seats into the frame. We were worried about the cold and heat seeping into the room from this unit but have not felt anything because of the tight, snug fit when closed. It was easy to install-less and 2 hours. It feels a bit wobbly when going up and down the steps but aluminum does 'give' a bit.
Overall, a good product for the purpose.

Had an attic ladder in a previous home but it was wood and was heavy so it was hard for me to pull open and shut. This aluminum ladder is really light weight and sturdy. Excellent product! We purchased as gift before Christmas. Great price, free shipping and fast delivery. I would order from Home Depot again.

I understand why HD is switching to a different mfr. of these ladders. The quaility of the Louisville is okay but feels flimsy. Installs easy. Purchased on sale with a big discount otherwise I would have waited for the better quality at the higher price which was on back order.
