I have had this model for atleast 10 years. Finally burned it up after repeated heavy use today. On my 3rd set of batteries with the old drill. Have 4 almost new from Nov. 2011. Going to buy the exact same drill tomorrow. After years of never having any issues, with this Dewalt I cant wait to use the new one!

A Great Powerful Drill that Kicks…

Had a lower volt hammer drill for years, when the batteries died. Bought a 14 V non hammer drill… it just could not keep up and had some plastic drive gears that couldn’t take day in day out work. Moved to this Drill and Love it!!! It will go through anything! The 18V batteries last so long you will wonder if they ever will run out of power.
Just remember to hang on to this drill as it is very powerful and if you do stick a bit in something. If you’re not ready it will twist out of your hand.
Great product….It just flat out works and works and works!

The DeWalt 18V 1/2-In Hammer Drill/Driver is a powerful tool for almost any job. It has exceptional torque for your drilling/driving needs. The keyloss chuck is unique and quite handy once you get used to it, as it rachets tight and locks you bit in place. The multiple setting allow the user to easly fit the tool to any job, being straight forward and simple to utilize. Overall a great tool!

DeWalt has done it again! There 1/2 inch. Hammer Drill stands up to the toughest loads. The 3 speed tranmission works as expected, completes the Toughest Jobs with ease.

I use this drill everyday at work and I couldn't ask for anymore out of a drill. It has plenty of power, batteries last a long time, and it is DURABLE!! I have unfortunately dropped it off the top of ladders several times and it still runs like a champ. Do yourself a favor if your in the market for a drill. Buy the right one the first time and make it be this one!

Pros: Metal chuck and 3 speed transmission. Extended runtime battery. Hammer drill. battery that workes in lots of other tools
Cons: higher priced. Pretty heavy.
I have owned several cordless drills over the years. Some were the cheap ones you can buy anywhere, others were suppose to be pretty good. I got a 24v set that i was very excited about from another brand but it didn't last even a year. (and the brand discontinued the 24v line) I tried several brands but as battery after battery wore down and replacements were expensive and sometimes hard to find. I asked my brother in law who slings a drill around for a living about what to do and he led me to dewalt. Yeah its an expensive drill, but its the meanest drill i have ever had the pleasure of owning. The all metal keyless chuck grabs fast, the 3 speed metal transmission gives the drill a very fast speed and keeps the battery run time up. Plus, the batterys can be used in the dozens of other quality dewalt tools out there. Get it.
