We were on the market for a bunch of power tools for our newly purchased home, and a trimmer is a must have. We decided to go for a medium power and that you pay a good upgrade price for it. I read many reviews, googled, asked friends and Echo won on every category. It's easy to use, starts easily, it's light weight and the best about buying a power head is that you can add attachments for different uses. We purchased an edger and a trimmer. Was going to buy the blower but decided to have as a second piece in case I have help gardening. I'm very satisfied with my choice so far. Will update this review if anything happens.
Pros: Easy to Use, Sturdy, Good Size & Weight, Durable, Powerful, Great Engine, Light Weight, the ability to add attachments is awesome.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I purchased this for my home and got the Brush Cutter and Weedeater attachment to go with it. Its perfect for my needs and probably a little over kill. Starts with ease. I've use the brush cutter attachment and wow I should have purchased this long ago. What a back saver! I totally recommend. Now am waiting for a sail to go on for the echo backpack blower and I will be all set for the summer.
Pros: Cuts Well, All In One, Easy to Use, Durable, Powerful, Light Weight, Easy to Store, Long-Lasting
Yes, I recommend this product.

As owner of a residential lawn care and landscaping company, I have used several different types of equipment. I was skeptical about any system that has attachments yet still claims commercial quality and durability. I can tell you that I saved myself around 250.00 by buying the ECHO PAS with trimmer and edger attachments, versus buying each piece of equipment separately. I have noticed the motor bogging down a bit when edging along street curbs, but it has been everything I could need otherwise.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought this product around 3 months ago and have used it maybe 15 times thus far. Changing the attachments is simple and takes about 10 seconds. I have three attachments at this point. I have the edger, the quick load trimmer attachment and the brush cutter attachment. The edger works great, the rapid loader works great and I've used the brush cutter only once.
The edger makes a clean line along curbs and driveways. I've found that if I follow the edger for one pass and then drag it backwards for a second, quicker pass, it leaves a much cleaner line and throws the cut soil out of the cut. The edger is the heaviest of the three attachments I own. It can get a bit heavy with this attachment, so getting the sling will be helpful and will be my next accessory purchase.
The rapid loader string attachment with the heavy (.095) line works great for grass and around shrubs. We have a flagstone patio with sharp stone that tends to cut the line relatively often but I found that if I run the trimmer at lower speeds and am a bit more careful, I can get a lot more time out of the line before it needs to be replaced. I have roughly 20K sf of lawn to trim and I can do it with 4 line changes. Sometimes the line gets a bit wedged, but I've yet to have to get a pair of pliers to pull the line free from the rapid loader head. Pushing from the outside and pulling from the inside simultaneously tends to do the trick for the most stubbornly wedged trim line.
As stated, I've used the brush cutter only once. The only drawback I found is that brush that tends to hang over well outside the radius of the trunk of what you are cutting makes the job more difficult as you can't see what you are cutting. You almost have to trim the brush back and then cut the base with the brush cutter. I was able to prune tree limbs overhead as well. The brush cutter cut through 1" limbs and brush with ease. You'll want to focus your cuts on the left side of the blade or it has a tendancy to 'jump' to the right as it may roll around what you are cutting.
Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the product. I elected to get the 230 in lieu of the 225 for the increased power and it hasn't let me down thus far. The final drawback of the system is that it is a bit expensive to load up with attachments. Thus far, I'd say I've invested nearly $600 between the power head and the three attachments I own.
Yes, I recommend this product.

i had an old Riobi 4 cycle that was a constant source of frustration. It finally broke and I wanted to go back to a 2 cycle. Consumer Reports rated this one high and I've been very satisfied with the power head and the attachments except the trimmer which uses pre-cut line and doesn't feed, but you can't have everything.

My cheap old edger finally died after 10 years and I decided to upgrade to a more commercial type product. This unit impressed me evan as it came out of the box. I could feel the quality. It started easily and was put to immediate use. I am very impressed and believe it was well worth the money. Seems it should last a lifetime.
