I was purchasing a bunch of Daylight Bulbs at the local Home Depot, reading the packages, comparing, learning. My cart was full, I was ready to go, and I found this thing. It's funny looking and HUGE!
Although I was on a quest for full spectrum bulbs, I just couldn't resist 4,200 lumens. It's an indoor bulb, but I hung it in my garage. (Where else could you put the thing?)
It's nice. It brightened up the garage quite a bit. With an outside temperature of 50 degrees, my horizontal fluorescents were humming as usual, but this thing was barely making a sound. After throwing the switch, there's no light for maybe two seconds. But I like this thing. Too bad it's discontinued. I'd buy a spare, but at $16.47 ea, I think that's a bad idea. I just hope I don't hit it with a ladder or something. From the ceiling to to the bottom of the bulb is near 9 1/2 inches; Imagine a gallon of milk-- it's about that tall. Ha!
Pros: Great Sound Quality, Very Bright, Nice Design
Yes, I recommend this product.

i need lights for a pole barn. Home Depot employee suggested this light but since the bulb costs so much I decided to buy one try it to see if I liked it and I do. now they are discontinued.
WHY WHY WHY. EVERYONE LIKES THESE BULBS.
A friend just spent $500 for T-8 florescent 8 ft and 4 ft. for his pole barn. When he turned the light switch on I was
disappointed for him and me it was not that bright. I'm disappointed because I don't know what to put in my pole barn now. everyone I know loves these 300 watt equivalent light bulbs. is there going to be a replacement?
Yes, I recommend this product.

This 2700k bulb promotes plant flowering. It's a very efficient bulb compared to using incandescent spot lighting. Low heat footprint. Place the bulb within 3" of a plant for maximum use of the light. My tomato plants are huge!
Yes, I recommend this product.

I've been thinking of hanging a couple more flourescent fixtures to improve the lighting in my garage. No need to do so now. This bulb, installed in the socket in the center of my garage, illuminates the entire space from corner to corner.
Sad to see that it's discontinued. I hope there is a similar product offered.
Pros: Easy to Use, Easy Replacement, Eco-Friendly, Very Bright, Nice Design, Easy Installation
Yes, I recommend this product.

Bulb works well, as advertised. Very bright, but it's a large, heavy bulb to get this many lumens out of a CFL. There is no humming sound either. I can't believe it's been discontinued!
Pros: Very Bright, Easy Installation
Cons: large
Yes, I recommend this product.

I agree that this bulb is quite large. But it's also marvelously, wonderfully, ridiculously bright. A 68 watt consumption is an 82 watt savings over the 3x Halogen fixture this replaced, while filling the room with much more light. The color temperature is warm, almost feels like an incandescent. Great light bulb if you can make the space: It's 8 1/4" high and 4 1/2" in diameter.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Finally a CFL with strong illumination with just 68-WATTS of power!! It's too fat to fit in a reflector but it doesn't really need one. Great for garage, storeroom, and patio lighting.
Pros: Very Bright, Easy Replacement
Cons: too high priced
Yes, I recommend this product.

Very large, but also very bright.
It takes 1 to 2 seconds for the bulb to turn on (~80% bright) and ~5 minutes to reach it's full brightness.
I bought several and I love them, a huge cost saver!

Four stars because the idea of using only 63 watts for 300 watts of light is brilliant, so to speak. Not five, because the specs aren't clear about the size. The bulbs are huge- more suited for a grand-entrance fixture than a livingroom lamp. The bulb is more than 8 inches tall. I had to return them, which was a painless process, btw. Kudos for that, HD.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I use this bulb as the main center light in our two man office. The room is 310 sq feet. The bulb gives very good overall illumination. One of the main advantages in replacing a 300 watt incandescent was the AC savings in the summer, plus the 80% reduction in the lighting cost. We have used it 5 days a week for over 6 months, for about 8 hours per day and no problems. No noise or hum either. The price is a good one too.
Pros: Easy to Use, Easy Replacement, Eco-Friendly, Very Bright, Easy Installation, no noise or hum
Yes, I recommend this product.

CFL bulbs are excellent for energy efficiency, but they don't generally come in high light-output versions.
I like fairly bright indoor lighting.
I use this to illuminate a basement area, which it does adequately.
I would buy more if they were available.

I switched to a different fixture because the whole tower of coils did not fully light up (not enough watt output?). Well it fixed it and the light capacity is great, though certainly not 300 Watts equivalent, that's pure hyperbole.
Sorry to see it discontinued.

This bulb is HUGE!! I probably should have checked the specs. However, since I'm using them to flower my fruits and veggies, the larger the bulb, the more lumens it puts out to a larger area. Crazy to discontinue

This is the brightest CFL I've ever seen and perfect for the garage. It's 20 degrees in my garage right now and it starts up immediately. However the full warm-up time is extended in these low temps.

I purchased five of these thinking I could replace the 300 watt incandescents in my garage. Should have researched this a bit more before buying. It seems that the incandescent bulbs I have been using(GE, Phillips) emit about 6000 lumens. These are rated at 4200. Guess I could simply wire in more medium bases, but at this cost per bulb, the tab is getting steep. I also tried HomeDepot's EcoSmart 100w equivalent cfl's in the same fixtures. The 100w seem to put out about the same amount of light.
