I was interested in replacing my incandecent R30 flood lights in my recessed can lights in my livingroom. These lights are controlled by a standard rotory type, triac (standard electronics for most residental market dimmers) dimmer switch. Unfortuneatly the Ecosmart dimmable CFLs would not function at all on the dimmer. They would work on full output, but as soon as you dim them they begin to buzz and at about 20% dimmed the will not stay on.
I would not waste my time or money buying these lamps, since you will most likely have to bring them back after you find out they do not work.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I was recently excited to find a dimmable compact fluorescent bulb at home depot. As many of the lights which I would like to replace are on dimmers, I felt that I finally had a chance to move forward on this. I purchased two of these bulbs with the intent of checking them in various places around my house.
While the light provides nice illumination at full strength, I was quite disappointed in the dimming range of the bulbs. At least by eye, it appeared that the minimum light intensity was only about 1/2 of the maximum intensity. Because of this limited range, the bulb was unable to reproduce the ambiance of of a dimmed incandescent bulb.
While there may be applications where this limited range of dimming is useful, it is certainly not in replacing bulbs where the ability to adjust the atmosphere in the room is important. I would discourage people from buying these if that is their intention.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Unlike the other reviewers, I am using these bulbs with the appropriate CFL-rated Lutron dimmer.
When paired with this dimmer, they have a decent dimming range. Here's the problem. Out of the dozen bulbs that I installed two weeks ago, FOUR have burnt out.
Something I have learned: if you have several lights in parallel on one dimmer, you only seem to need one "dimmable" CFL. Perhaps a capacitor is what makes them dimmable... In that case ten of the twelve expensive bulbs were a waste.
No, I do not recommend this product.
