This is the second Bucket head that I have purchase. These Vacs are great to use. I prefer using it with the 5 gallon bucket but you can use shorter buckets instead.

I have used this twice now. I also own a larger shop vac but that can be bulky at times. This is great for quick cleanups. I also envision using this to help cleanup the interior of my boat at the end of a weekends use this summer. My larger shop vac was difficult to use in my boat. Great idea, wish I had thought of it first!!

Great suction, light, affordable, easy to use; all true and make for a great vac. Downside for me is the noise. The hose isn't long, and so the unit is close to your head when in use, and its loud. I've taken to wearing ear buds when using this guy. Strongly recommend the use of hearing protection.

I bought one for myself and liked it well enough that =I subsequently purchased one for my father-in-law. He is older(82) and couldn't handle toting around a larger one. This is perfect for him. he uses it to vacuum water around his water pump. All around a win-win item.

I use this primarily as a wet vac for cleaning out 10 gallon tanks.
PROS: Suction is great and fast. The price is the cheapest I have ever seen for a wet/dry vac.
CONS: The hose is a little too short so I have to hold the bucket when working. The suction is so good that this bucket fills up very fast and it gets difficult/too heavy to hold while working.
UNKNOWN: I have no idea how good this is as a dry vac.
All in all this is an excellent buy! I have not regretted this purchase at all. I'm thinking about finding some attachments and using this as a cheap home vacuum cleaner...
Yes, I recommend this product.

I actually bought this wet-vac for my dad. He builds and fixes things outside, but sometimes inside too. My mother does a lot of yardwork. So, between the two of them I figured this would help with any mishaps of almost any sort. This product is cool because it is light weight and once you fill one bucket, you can just detach and attach another. And, then go dump the bucket and start all over if needed.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought this strictly to use for plumbing use when I had some issues in my crawlspace. I have a 20 Gallon, 6 HP Shop Vac, so I knew I wasn't going to use this for big purposes.
Initially, it worked great for what I bought it for. I sucked water very well. Then I started using it as a portable dust collector for a track saw and compound miter saw, and works very well for that, too. And when the dryer died, it was awesome for getting around the tight spaces there, too. I would never depend on it as a main vacuum, but it's great for oddball uses. Pay attention to its capacity/ability and you will be happy.
BTW, if you have an aquarium to clean out, try this to clear out the last of the water and gravel. You will be very happy with the results!
Cons? The price of additional attachments cost more than the vacuum... if you want/need them.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Very wimpy suction. Paper filters. Very short hose. Bucket tips over if you pull on hose. I ended up throwing this out and buying Home Depot's Black Friday shop vac for $49 with 5.0 hp. Cute idea, but fairly useless. Save the box & receipt so you can return it if you don't like it.

I bought this bucket vac shortly after moving into my new home. Our garage is built into a hillside, and during an incredibly heavy rain it started flooding. Since many of our boxes were still in the garage unpacked, I had to do something quick or risk losing half of my stuff. We ran to Home Depot and got this bucket vac. With a bucket brigade set up, we were able to remove the lake that had formed and keep the water at bay long enough to get all our our precious items out. It was a small miracle, since I couldn't afford the pricier shop-vac at the time.
Since that time, I've used it to clean up soil from a plant that was knocked over, blow pine needles out of my gutters, and many other things. This little guy is amazing!
Yes, I recommend this product.

We have bird and squirrel feeders in our yard and I wanted something that could pick up the shells and bits of debris that get all over. Initially I thought this unit worked okay, but it didn't take long for me to change my mind. Set on top of a bucket, it's top heavy, and with the short hose, I found it constantly fell over. After it falls over, something gets out of balance, and the suction won't work, so you have to shut it off and back on. As I mentioned previously, the hose is very short, and it's also very narrow. It did okay picking up small sunflower seed shells, but after sucking up half of a peanut shell it got clogged right away.
I suppose if you were only going to use it for vacuuming up very light, small objects or as a wet vac, it would probably be okay, but it's not going to do the job for me. I'll be returning it today.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I have two wet-vacs. This one and an expensive 6HP. In the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, I loaned the big one to my neighbor and kept the Bucket Head for myself. I guess "beggars can't be choosey".
--- SUCTION ---
The Big Wet-vac is excellent in sucking (8^P). I can't tell you about vacuuming up rocks. I have never needed to do that. I think I'd rather use a shovel and a wheel barrow.
The Bucket Head: I can't tell the difference in suction. With the flooded basement, the Bucket Head was much faster, but not because of horsepower. The hose is only about 2 inches in diameter. (I'm not sure the exact diameter because someone is currently borrowing mine) I did use it once for cleaning up packing peanuts. That was a bad idea. The packing peanuts got jammed up in the hose.
--- PORTABILITY ---
Big Wet-Vac: It is big and bulky, hard to wheel around, especially through doors and around furniture. The hose is 6 or 8 feet long so you can stretch it . . . but why do you need a long hose??? It only gets in the way.
Bucket Head: It moves easily. It is lightweight. Just pick it up and place it close. The hose is plenty long enough when cleaning out your car.
--- STORAGE ---
Big wet-vac: It takes up a whole closet.
Bucket Head: You can put the head on a shelf and use the empty bucket as a garbage can.
--- VOLUME ---
Big Wet-Vac: It holds more . . . is this a positive? Ever try lifting one of these big wet-vacs to pour it out. First, you have to wheel it to your dumping destination (which isn't the easiest as I mentioned above). God forbid you have to dump it outside and have to go over a door threshold or stairs. To dump it, you have to lift it full of water. . . hernia time!
Bucket Head: It holds a simple 5 gallons or whatever the size of your bucket. Not hard to carry and pour into the laundry sink, even when full of water.
--- DOWN TIME ---
Big wet-vac: Let's say your basement is flooded. You're feverishly trying to vacuum up the water while your wife watches from behind. She can't help because the vacuum is too big for her to dump. In addition, you're not vacuuming up water when you're dumping the thing.
The Bucket Head: Use multiple buckets and you can do the dumping of the water while your wife does the vacuuming (actually it was my 5 year old son for Hurricane Irene). The Bucket Head quickly snaps off and on. No complicated latches. Extra buckets are easy to come by and easily stack. I find my buckets for free behind Chinese Restaurants.
--- TOP HEAVY ---
The Big Wet-vac is top, bottom and everything heavy. It has three latches to keep the top on.
The Bucket Head: It's not that top heavy, but even if it were, who cares? It still works on its side, and you can even drag it on it's side if you want. If you're a stickler on this, put a rock in the bucket or do some more vacuuming to put weight in the bucket. I prefer the rock over the 6 HP's heavy base used to prevent it's top-heaviness.
--- COST ---
Need I say anything here?
-----------------------------------------
I wish I could buy stock in the Bucket Head. It is such an incredible idea. It is the best purchase I have ever made at Home Depot. . . . and if you ever need to borrow my big wet-vac . . . it is always available for you to use. . . just as long you don't mind keeping it at your place for a while.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I gave this vacuum a little test drive as soon as I got home from the store. I assembled it in less than a minute and started vacuuming up gravel and rocks off my garage floor. To my surprise, this vacuum picked up everything!
It is louder than you think it would be since it is so small, but what vacuum is as quiet as you would like it to be? It has great sucking power and I love the idea that is attaches to a 5 gal bucket. I'll be buying more of these in the future. I might even sell my big 6 gal shop vac and replace it with one of these.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Awesome!
Addressing the reviews of too short power cord or vac hose, if I wanted a full size shop vac, I would have bought one.
This is great for those who have limited storage space, I bought mine for fireplace and grill ash vacuuming, this little guy does a great job.
It's not a full on shop vac, but who expects that at this size and price?

This handy little vac has great suction and will be used all this spring on a addition to my house , and then will move to the barn. I found that the attachments for my upright vacuum will friction fit to the Bucket Head's hose, giving me many more options. It must be noted, however, that it is VERY top-heavy, and with the short stiff hose it is easier to just cart the vac around by the bucket handle--if you try to set it down it either tips over or the hose detaches as soon as you move the hose at all. It would be nice if the hose had a latch of some kind to keep it from pulling out.
This gets it's fourth star basically for the great price. The funny thing was that I had to spend over $20 to get an online deal, and so I ordered the $2 bucket to go with the Bucket Head, and the shipping, from two different locales was a little silly!
Yes, I recommend this product.
