I bought this to use for a crawfish boil. I had to modify the burner unit in order to use it with a 60 qt pot. The safety features are way too reistictive for use with the larger pot as it shuts off before reaching boiling temp on the big pot. I am all about safety, but the features on this unit are way too conservative.

So bought this fryer online for store pick up, when I picked up super easy and fast already for me at front desk which is good in my eyes. Except when i got home and put it together , the 30qt pot that came with the fryer had a massive dent in it at the bottom of pot, big disappointment was able to bang most of it out, so for that Thumbs down .

This is a good value as far as savings. Sometimes, a pot and lid can cost that much. I wish I would have known I am supposed to use the correct sized pot to keep the sensor in contact. I had the same problem with the heating sensor even when using the pot that came with it. It stopped before the water reached 175. The real issue is that a faulty part might seduce someone into overriding it, which is obviously what your not supposed to do. Overall, I think I would have purchased something else if I would have known about the sensor issue and to get something that works with any size pot.
Here's a tip: a new aluminum pot needs to be seasoned. If you can fit it in your oven, place it in there (nothing in the pot) at 350+ for several min. Or if you can't fit it in your oven, just boil the pot full of water for a while. You will notice the pot turned a shade darker, which is basically a protective coating that should be kept on.

I've done 3 batches of brew with this already and it works great. I have found it fairly easy to control temps and the big pot allows me to do full batch boils (5 gallons). It is a bargin. Can't speak to how it frys turkeys though. Not what I bought it for

I bought this fryer to use as a brew kettle and burner for homebrewing beer and it works great! I really like some of the safety features that are included that will shut the burner down if it gets too hot. The only complaint I have is the directions weren't very clear on where the little spring that comes with the miscellaneous parts kit goes. That meant that I had to take the air regulator back apart once it was already together and install the spring.

My husband and I were prepared to spend much more than this on a turkey fryer and were very glad that we didn't. We used it to fry a turkey for Christmas this year and were very pleased with how easy it was to assemble and operate.

Have use this fryer twice since purchased for Christmas and New Years, 12 and 14 pound birds. Was pretty easy to assemble and very easy to operate. The safety features are very good. I had the temp sensor trip on me once the second time, just needed to shift the pot ever so slightly. Heats up the oil very quickly, 20 minutes or so. I am sure there are better fryers out there but for the money this one would be hard to beat.

I've had several Fryers and this is the third. The price seems to have gotten cheaper, and the extras increased. Thermo and sensor are added bonuses. The pots usually develop pin-holes which allow oil to leak. This one may very well do the same. In the meantime, we will enjoy the auto shutoff sensor and the excellent turkeys we fry!

Loved the extra deep pot and no boil over when slowly immersing the turkey. The 12" long thermometer is also nice and tested very accurate. Assembly required!

I will likely never fry a turkey with this product. I purchased it to brew beer with. I've only used it once so far and was happy. No ability to control the heat is a bit annoying. Your choices are full blast, or nothing at all.

I looked at many different fryers before buying this one. Many competing fryers (regardless of the brand) appear to be made by the same manufacturer which has put an annoying 15 minute timer on the fuel line. This fryer doesn't have such a timer. Instead it provides a temperature sensor which monitors the temperature of the fry pot. This is a more useful safety feature which doesn't get in the way of cooking. This fryer also has a flame sensor that shuts off the fuel if the flame goes out. I didn't notice this feature on competing fryers.
The fryer's construction is fairly sturdy and it appears to be more stable than some of the other fryers I considered. Assembly was straightforward and the instructions were clear.
So far I've only boiled a few gallons of water. I had no issues lighting the fryer and it worked well.
I plan to cook food and brew beer with this fryer. If you plan to use a different pot with this fryer note that the pot must sit inside the upper ring of the fryer such that it contacts the temperature sensor. The inside diameter of the upper ring is about 12.25" so your pot's diameter must be less than that.

I too read reviews and was worried about the heat sensor. I never had a problem with mine. It never shut off during the entire time the turkey was cooking (other than when I turned it off on purpose). If the sensor shuts off due to overheat, you've neglected to safely monitor your cooker in the first place. I have fried two turkeys now since I bought it before Thanksgiving and it has worked better than past fryers I have used.
