Unless I have a very specific design requirement that Hampton Bay can't satisfy, I do not expect to ever purchase another brand of ceiling fan. Particularly if you are a do-it-yourselfer, I strongly recommend that you look at Hampton Bay first, and only look further if you can't find something that fits your budget or design criteria.
Every Hampton Bay fan I've ever purchased has included two downrods of different lengths in the package. Combined with the flush-mount technique, this gives you three choices for the height of your ceiling fan.
Hampton Bay's warranty is both simple and, in my opinion, extraordinary. Hampton Bay fan has a lifetime warranty -- period. If the fan stops working or wears out, you bring it to Home Depot with your original receipt and get a replacement, free, no questions asked.
Great product!

Beware Down Rod Size

Fan was purchased for a Great Room with +12ft Vaulted Ceiling. Down rod specs on box for ceiling size ranged between a 24" and 36" down rod. I purchased the 36" down rod since my ceiling peaks over 12'. Upon unpacking the fan and preparing to install, the instructions indicated that the maximum length for the down rod was 24" and the wiring length provided was 26". Thus the 36" down rod was not able to be used. Fortunately, my lovely wife was home and she ran to Home Depot to return the 36" for a 24" while I started to wire the mounting. Two other minor issues are: (1)The switch settings for forward (Summer) and reverse (Winter). The switch on the motor mount does not indicate which way is forward or reverse. I had to guess and go back up the 10' ladder to reset when I guessed incorrectly! (2) I mounted a wall control (not included) to run the fan's 3 speeds and turn On/Off. It required the fan to be set at the highest speed. All I could do was hope that the factory preset would be High as I proceeded to wire the switch. Of course, it wasn't, so I had to rewire until I determined the High setting by, again, going up and down the 10' ladder and pulling the chain several times. The box recommends this fan for large rooms, which usually means high ceilings; thus you would need to add a remote (not included) or wall switch (not included) since the pull chain would be useless. Overall, we are pleased with the outcome. We like the black side of the blades and the modern look of the fan.
