1/3 HP Submersible Combination Sump Pump System

The Basement Watchdog 1/3 HP Submersible Combination Sump Pump System offers primary and battery backup pump capabilities. The backup system is designed to provide automatic coverage if the power is interrupted or if more water is coming into the sump than the primary pump can handle. This system features a user-friendly controller that sounds an alarm, illuminates a warning light and describes what to do for easy maintenance.

Our old pump died overnight in a big rainstorm, we got up in the morning to find 3 inches of water in the basement. We went out and bought this pump to quickly replace the dead one. It installed really easily and was back working right away! We only needed a hacksaw (to adjust the length of the discharge pipe) and a screwdriver (to attach the pump). We decided to get this one because of the ease of installing and the inclusion of the battery back-up (previously we were stuck in a power outage and had to bail the sump pit by hand for a day, really didn't want to worry about that again in the future).
Later in the day when the cleanup crew came, they knocked a piece of their equipment into the sump pit, smashing the pit cover and destroying both float switches (both the primary and the battery back-up). I called up the manufacturer's technical support and they overnight FedEx-ed me replacement floats at no charge! Wonderful customer service!
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have had this pump for over a week. It is working perfectly. Haven't had the opportunity to test the back-up though. This was very easy to install. The instructions are very good, especially when it comes to installing the battery (which is sold seperatly). Follow the directions exactly when installing the battery, this is by far the easiest way to install it.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I installed it in one hour, it took me more time to go to HD to get a rubber coupling. I filled up my sump pit with water, while keeping the main pump unplugged, the secondary pump came on and pumped out all the water, our height was 12 feet, no problems. I am very happy with this product, and strongly endorse all to consider this, before wasting time and money + energy and plumbing costs with the others.
Regards and happy holidays

I installed this pump just before Hurricane Irene in anticipation of a power outage. It worked great. In spite of being 200 yards from the ocean, we had not even a power glitch. The pump repelled the outage gods. The 110 volt pump works as advertised. The battery standby is there and was not needed. Installation was straight forward.

I am a Chicagoland Plumbing Contractor and I have seen over two hundred flooded basements in my 20 year career. To have a system like this one, that will only pump out 16 gallons per minute @ a 10 ft. lift / head is just a waste of money and time. A really good battery back-up pump will pump more than double that amount. Simply put, if the pump cannot pump out water faster than it is coming in...you will flood. I have seen several homes recently that have flooded and had this system in place. It was working, but was overcome by the volume of water that entered the sump basin during an average storm that had caused a power outage. When selecting a battery back-up system, get one with at least 35 GPM or more.
No, I do not recommend this product.
