With two shedding dogs This gem has proven to be wonderful. I even use it on the bird cage. Since owning it I have discovered a multitude of uses I never thought about when I purchased it

Strongest suction we've seen in a rechargeable. Goes at highest strength for a good 20 minutes straight. Recharges quickly. Attachments designed well for spot-on, thorough quickie cleaning. Easy on the wrist and fun to use.
Direction of exhaust causes intended peripheral pickup to blow around. The only reason we'd give it a 4.
Compared to other handhelds in consideration of our intensive usage factor, we give it a 5.

This is a superior handheld cordless vacuum that makes the Dustbuster look like a Model-T. I highly recommend spending the money on this vacuum if you have house pets of any kind or if you just like to keep things clean between regular vacuumings. It is an excellent design and works as good as my regular Dyson Animal Vacuum. It is worth the money!!!!

This hand held cordless vacuum works very well for about 10 minutes and they it has to be recharged for several hours. If you have something to vacuum you need to work very fast!

I had heard great things about dyson vacuum cleaners but was reluctant to spend this amount of money on a hand held one. I have six indoor/outdoor cats, dark furniture, and hardwood floors, some covered with area rugs. I always have a lot of fur and outdoor debris tracked in by the cats. When I received the vacuum, I was amazed at how light it was. I was also pleased to note it was even charged when I took it out of the box. There is no assembly. I tried it immediately and found it to be easy to maneuver and great at picking up the fur. The battery charge lasts longer than the other hand held vacuums I have. I use it on almost a daily basis and sometimes use it to do entire carpets when I do not feel like breaking out my heavy upright. I would highly recommend this vacuum to everyone, even those without animals as it makes cleaning a breeze. Having something so convenient makes it easy to keep one’s house clean without thinking of vacuuming as a chore. I am thinking about getting one for my sister for Christmas – she has two kids and four cats. I am also now thinking about purchasing a dyson upright in the future. I think the higher cost is more than made up for in the efficiency and lightness of their vacuums.

I bought this unit and the DC28 at the same time to cover all possible vacuuming needs... and they certainly have. I used to have the Root6 (the first Dyson hand held) and that had some power/reliability issues... have not seen any problems so far w/ the newer DC31 model. Even on regular power setting it gets everything up and does actually last ~10mins.
On high-power it really sucks (in a good way!) for about 5 mins. The pet attachments are handy if you have shedding pets - love this unit. The colour is awesome too.
