Bad to the bone

This is the best mower I have owned. My son is a lawn service man and likes this mower better than the mower he uses. He has used alot of commercial mowers. Very easy to drive, controls work very well. Cut my mowing time in half on 5 acres. It is well worth the price and is very well made. The deck is much stronger than the cheaper ZTR mowers. I looked around at all the ZTR mowers. This is the best deal going.

American quality shows through

I own several commercial warehouses and needless to say mow a lot of grass and in tough places. I looked at the John Deere and Cub Cadet zero turns but decided on the Ariens instead. Although I've never owned an Ariens I have several pieces of equipment with similar Kawasaki engines. They have all performed without a hitch for many years and always start on a dime so I gave the Ariens a shot.
First off this bad boy is built like a tank and as a result rides very smooth with minimal vibration. You can literally "feel" the quality when you ride it. The lower deck is visibly more robust than the Deere or Cadet, something I know will pay off down the road. I plowed through 3 foot high grass as fast as I dared go and the mower never even flinched. The motor/cutting deck combo is simply a monster! I also was very pleased with the minimal scalping especially considering its wide 54" deck. I believe the heavy construction of the deck lends to its stability as it hardly moves when going through thick grass.
Doing a little research I found Ariens has been building mowers for quite some time and right here in the USA. If your budget is in this range this is the tractor you want! You won't be disappointed!

Very Happy

This mower is awsome. Built like a tank. Got another brand of mower first but when it developed an oil leak after 1 1/2 hrs I took it back.
This unit has the ZT2800 hydro pumps on it just like alot of the other more expensive well built ztr's.
Alot of people do not realize how important the pumps are on these mowers (about $1000 ea if you have to replace them). This unit has good ones.
The people at home depot were great to deal with. They worked very hard to please me. Even took back the first mower no questions asked.
I could not be happier.

I am very happy with the mower. It cuts
great with no hesitation. The only problem
with the mower is the front tires. They seem
to be very thin which I replaced with new tires.

This mower is great. It has a strong engine and the mower is well made. Ariens made this mower easy to maintain. I'd recommend this mower to any homeowner who wants to shorten their mowing time. It's a fast mower that cuts very well.

Just awesome

This mower has been and done everything (and more) than I ever expected. The deck is likely the best feature of this mower. Welded, not stamped. That makes huge difference.
It is powerful, dependable and easy to perform maintenance on in my own garage. I know basic engine service and its perfect for me or those like me. All service points are easy to get to.
When cutting at max speed some striping occurs where the blades meet. I understand they have compensated for this in the Ariens commercial version, but at nearly $8k it was beyond my budget. Thus, dwell time is a must on taller grass, but that’s with nearly any mower. I plan to upgrade blades next season and likely buy the 3-bagging system or the mulcher kit.
I am also falling in love with the rubber discharge chute. Lets me get a little closer to walls and fences without bending the chute. Not an important factor when I bought it, but the rubber (about 3/8 inch thick, so its durable) chute has become a welcome feature.
I blow off the engine, air filter and undercarriage with leaf blower after every use. I believe this will help with longevity.
For a heavy duty residential/light commercial, you can't go wrong with this one. I've owned pro grade mowers costing over $7k. I'd match this one with them anytime...so far... The engine is top-notch. Starts right up every time. Cub Cadet and others can’t come close.
I cut fairly rough terrain as well as somewhat manicured lawns. Does great on both. I never abuse it but it certainly goes through the paces with me and it never skips a beat.
Oh by the way, I’m retired military so the 10% discount really came in handy on this purchase! Go HOME DEPOT!
