Bought this corded electric mower after reading reviews of the cordless model with many reviewers complaining about the poor battery and battery charger. I live in the mountains of southern Colorado and have a small lawn area due to lack of rainfall. Used to live in rural NY and had a lawn tractor with 60" deck. More property here but much less lawn area. This mower moves easily (was rollling by itself on a sidewalk during assembly) and is easy to use. Provides a nice cut and is relatively quiet when operating (sounds like a large powerful fan). I ordered this online with free shipping and was up and running within an hour of delivery by UPS. You will need a good quality extension cord (12 gauge for a 50' cord). My lawn areas total about 2500' and I was done mowing within a half hour. No pull start, gas fumes, changing oil or adding to fuel, or loud engine. Having a cord attached took a little getting used to- sort of like using an upright vacuum cleaner in your living room. Instructions show best way of dealing with cord (start mowing close to outlet, moving further away with each pass). Mower came with several options (mulching 'plug' to block discharge shoot, side discharge, or grass catcher bag. I have only used side discharge shoot, which works as expected. Mower handles varying heights/thickness of grass, including areas of taller weeds at edge of lawn. I was not familiar with this brand-Homelite-before this purchase so was a little skeptical, but am very pleased with the purchase so far. Can't say how long it will be before a problem arises (have only mowed with it on three occaslons). If you have small lawn area(s) close to AC outlet(s) this is the way to mow!
Yes, I recommend this product.

The mower is pretty much assembled out of the box. The instructions were easy to follow in order to put the grass catcher attachment on. Just plugged it up and away I went. It is a bit heavy...but my backyard slopes after a certain point, so it's a bit trickier to mow. I am very pleased and sure my neighbors are happy that I am keeping the grass trimmed!!!! Great product and I recommend it highly.

I am a physically fit woman who has mowed for years with a traditional gas mower. I love this electric mower because it is lightweight, and easy to push, and instantly starts up with the handlebar (no yanking a pullcord), has no smell or mess involved with gasoline and oil. I feel that if I had to mow very early or late in the day, that it would not be too loud for my neighbors. The mulching component, means that there is NO cleanup after the mowing process. I simply put the mower back in the garage. No safety issues with buying, storing or pouring extra gasoline in my home (garage). The only disadvantage is learning to maneuver with the very long cord. I developed an easy system on the second mowing session. I will NEVER return to gas mowing!
Yes, I recommend this product.

I liked the different heights, discharge areas AND the bagger. The price was good, especially with free shipping. Dragging/flipping the cord was/is more work than I wanted. The blades were not as sharp as needed. Even with overlapping passess, there are always stray blades sticking up. The sharpening costs will be a real negative expense. It is heavier than I expected. Guess gasoline engine will win next time.

Wanted to go electric but my yard pushes the limits in terms of size and configuration. Needing a 100' cord concerned me for increased resistance and motor overheating. I use a 12 gauge cord which so far has worked well. Cord maneuvering adds very little time in cutting the lawn and not smelling like gas is great. The mower actually cuts and mulches better than my old Craftsman mower. So far I am very happy with the purchase.

While using this mower for the first time, I quickly noticed that 12 amps is definitely not a lot of power in comparison to other mowers I have used. However, it got the job done on 5-7 inch tall grass & weeds without choking. The only reservation I have with this mower so far is the switch control lever that is used to start and stop the engine is plastic and not very sturdy. I'm not sure how it would break but I expect it to sooner than later. Aside from that, it seems like a fairly good mower for light weight use. Also, being that this is a corded electric, moving the cord around can get annoying. However, it's a small price to pay for a low-maintenance, no charging, and no gas & oil required mower.
Yes, I recommend this product.

After two years, the mower went over a large rock (1-2"). Of course the blade was damaged but the mower started vibrating strangely, just a little, so I investigated. The bottom of the motor has a very weak open mount holding the lower motor bearing. The mount had cracked in four places, and when I examined it the motor stator fell down. It is repairable if the part was available, but the repair cost would be more than the mower. Also, the mulching feature only works if the grass is totally dry and not too long, and it often crushes down and misses a line of grass because of weak suction. Other than that, it is ok for a 1,000 sq. ft. yard like mine. Treat it really well and be prepared to replace it all when you would only expect to replace a blade.
No, I do not recommend this product.

This product pretty much works as intended, so I guess that is all a manufacturer/customer call ask.
It is a little heavier than I'd thought it might be so even though it rolls quite easily, I get a bit of a workout on my undulating lawn. Maybe the deck could've been manufactured out of aluminum, if it's not.
The little rubber thing (shield) that hangs off the back catches of things if you're attempting to move in reverse but a razor knife will cure that.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Old electric mower died in the middle of the lawn. Trundled off to the Depot for a replacement. 20 minutes later, it's out of the box and ready to go. Very easy to assemble (the longest time was spent reading all the warnings...) Cuts cleanly, easy to adjust height with the single lever. The cord management suggestions in the instructions corrected mistakes I've been making in the way I've cut my lawn for years! Catcher bag hangs simply behind mower (no outrigger to steer around the garden gnomes and shrubs) and empties easily. Looking forward to trying the mulching feature. All in all, good value for the money.
Pros: Cuts Well, Easy to Use, Powerful

I'm a single mom and efficiency and quality is the name of the game. This mower is easy to use and cuts the grass great and rather quickly, leaving no high areas or clumbs of high grass. Pushes fairly easily and using a corded mower has not been an issue.

Got the mower 2 days ago, assembled and tried it yesterday.
I was worried that It wouldn't have the power to take down the grass as high as it was, but even on a medium/low setting it chopped away.
+ <5 min easy out of box setup
+adjustable up to 4 inches.
+powerful enough for 9+ inch weeds and grass
+Lightweight (no battery)
+most of the noise is from actual blades spinning and cutting.
+no vibrations in the handlebar due to a gas engine.
And complaints about dealing with an extension cord...as long as your not making a maze around trees, its not a problem. Its like dealing with a vacuum cleaner.
Only CON:
Wish it came in bigger than 20", like 22".
Yes, I recommend this product.

This mower is quiet yet powerful enough to get the job done. I recommend it for smaller yards because of the use of extension cords. It is well built and the types of discharge/mulching option vary for a person's choice! It was also easy to assemble.

To have a mower that starts means I can actually trim up my lawn. Easy to maneuver, quick to get out and put away, low noise level and its quality gives me hope that it will be durable. Have not used it in heavy grass yet so do not have an opinion about its power. Cord length limitations restrict being able to reach some areas of the yard.

The first time I used it, the grass was very tall. The mower went through without any problems. Since the grass was so long, I used the bag to catch the cuttings. It caught everything and was easy to empty. No problems with clogging. Now I use the mulching attachment and it does a great job. I can barely notice the chopped pieces.

The lawn mower is easy to put together and use, but the cord is a pain. My son ran over the extension cord the first 30 minutes we used and had me running back to Home Depot for another cord. If you take the price you spend on extension cords, you'll make up the difference for a rechargeable one. The cord connector should have a snap lock to prevent the constant disconnection when the cord is pulled a little too far. Also, even though we used the bag, we had lots of grass clippings so clean up was still a hassle. Overall, give this a B-.

Let me start by saying that Home Depot ROCKS (specifically Tom)! I purchased this mower 2 years ago and the battery has died twice. Because it's outside of it's warranty, the manufacturer would not cover the cost of the 2nd battery system. In fact, they recommended I purchase a competitors unit. That should tell you enought right there. The cost is $170.00 to fix. I looked up consumer affairs under homeowners/homelite and I quickly realized I was not the only one with these issues. Please, do not purchase this product, go with a Toro or Black and Decker unit. Tom from HD is going to take care of me and help me into a new (different) unit.
No, I do not recommend this product.
