The motor broke after almost exactly one year. It was put in a server room and run continuously. Water did not fill up very quickly, so that was good. However, it also did not stay very cool for the last few months. For regular intermittent home use, it should be just OK.

Set up was so easy - just plug power unit into wall outlet. You must press reset button on the connection unit. They should put BIG warning sign which has not. The unit is well designed and shows high quality stuff which all LG does nowadays. Setting up window vent was easy enough for anyone. It cools down living room very efficiently. Nice feature on remote also. Money well spent on this unit.

This is perfect for the master suite which is located on the west side of the second floor (which is always hot)My gas and electric bill is lower by $70 - $100 per month while keeping the bedroom very cool. The noise of the fan does not bother me, infact I like it, but my husband feels it is a little too loud. The unit was very easy to install and the remote is great. We give it 5 stars.

Our bedroom is on the 2nd floor. It's 18x23 with ONE (yes, one) register to pump air/heat into the room. During the peak summer days, temps in our room reach 80. I installed this A/C unit and now we can keep it at around 73.5 at night - our room is now very comfortable. It has an oscillating vent on the front that moves the air around a little more than had it just pumped air through a stationary vent. Installation is easy, although I recommend you don't stick the insulation strips to your window. You'll eventually move that unit (for winter) and you'll have a sticky mess trying to remove those strips. The only thing that is mildly annoying about this unit is the remote doesn't have a light, so you cannot see it at night. The unit is a little noisy, but nothing more than I expected from an A/C unit. It did spook our dog for a few nights, but he's fine with it now. Overall, it's a great purchase that I hope lasts. We've only had it for two weeks, but so far, so good. I did go against Clark Howard's advice and purchased the $65 2 year extended warranty. That gives me 3 years total coverage - I'll take the peace of mind.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I was concerned that this may need to be drained more than once a day. I received this air conditioner 3 days ago and it's been running since then. Weather very hot and humid and I'm testing to see how long before the tank is full and the auto shut off kicks in. Well in 3 days that hasn't happened. Since today the weather was 90 degrees with high humidity, I decided to drain just to see, and only a few drops of water came out. I have 3 rooms and all cool, now i'm purposely running to see just how long before the tank fills and the auto shut off kicks in. Not sure why negative reviews about this issue maybe they just bought a bad unit.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I purchased this unit to replace an older window A/C. Based on already having a smaller LG A/C in my bedroom, I purchased this model and couldn't be more satisfied. For starters, it's nice to have the portability and relative quietness of this model. Secondly, having the entire unit indoors totally eliminates the burdensome cleaning and maintenance of a window/outdoor model. Third, the additional features of this model, such as an auto clean function as well as a cool/dry function that cools and dehumidifies (thus keeping it comfortable), make it a smart purchase. Finally, along with actually having an energy saver mode, this A/C is a lot more efficient than my old one. So far, it's been working like a dream and I can (and do) highly recommend it.

1) As other reviewers have said, the "compressor" was very loud, compared to the Everstar and Commercial Cool portable ACs that I already own. This AC was an addition to those two, so I have serious comparisons at my leisure. Also as other reviewers say, the compressor would not cycle "off" but would instead stay on constantly. So when set at 76 degrees the kitchen went down to 66 degrees.
2) What others did not say, is that the window kit would not fit my standard, everyday normal windows. The large area of the hose came way too close to the window. So I had to loosely secure it with duct tape because I could not get the oval part at the end of the hose to snap into the window section. Again, my other two ACs had PLENTY of room.
3) Also, after powering the unit on each time, the louvers robotically open (as they are supposed to) but then they would close half way and remain that way, audibly and obviously restricting the air flow. So each time I turned it on, I had to reopen the louvers all the way by hand.
4) So, with all that said, I kept this AC for 3 months in my southern exposure kitchen and only turned it on during the hottest days that I needed it, while relying on my other two ACs to keep the rest of the house cool most other days. I could not keep it on all the time because the compressor would not shut off, but it loudly kept the kitchen cool when I absolutely needed it. Two days before the 3 month return policy was up, I gladly returned it to Home Depot and got my money back. I'll be sure to get a different brand next summer. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 star because it did put out some seriously cold air. But that's about it.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Alert for condensation tank to sensitive

I am forever having to empty this dang catch tank. That is the ONLY problem. Otherwise its an execellent unit..really does the job. Not really loud to me. but then thats me.. But the constant alert which shuts down the unit until emptied of water is nearly every day. I wish I knew how to disarm the dang thing I would certainly do so. Any ideas? next thing I am going to put the unit on a platform with a hose into a bucket and leave the plug out......anyway...again it does cool and takes care of more than one room easily.

I bought one of these in the store during a very hot spell in late June and have been running it almost every day since. I can't afford to install central air and, due to the style of my windows, can't use window AC units, so it was portable or nothing.
Pros:
- It doesn't cool my entire 1300 sq ft home - I didn't expect it to - but with strategically located fans to help move cool air around, it makes the entire place MUCH more comfortable. My 15x32 living room where I run this gets downright chilly.
- Despite running the unit for weeks, mostly in very high humidity, I've never had to empty the tank.
- But for the one issue mentioned below, easy to set up and move.
Cons:
- Pretty darned loud - I'd never be able to sleep if I ran it in the bedroom. To be honest, I usually turn it off at night if the weather is tolerable because it can keep me awake even 40 feet away in the living room.
- The screws that came with the window installation kit were too large for the holes so I had to run to the local hardware store for smaller ones to assemble this (didn't want to make the holes larger in case I needed to return the unit).
Despite the noise, I've been very pleased with this unit, especially because we have a lot of mosquitoes this year. It's been great to keep the windows closed, the bugs out and the house comfortable. I would've had a miserable, hot summer without it.
Yes, I recommend this product.

This is the worst ac ever. First one I bought I returned it the same day, had to empty the thank every 10 mins. The 2nd one never got the room cool at all. My window AC with half the BTU's cooled the room much better. Don't buy this AC. You'll will return it the same day and get another one just as bad.

I purchased this unit because I could not install a window unit as I have louvered windows. I used a 20"x40" piece of 1/4" plexiglas and attached it to the window. I then cut the required hole in the middle of the plexiglas for the vent hose. The first unit I purchased was defective in that the thermostat would not trigger the compressor to cycle off no matter what temperature I set. I have a bedroom and bath with total area around 500 sq. ft. I set the unit to 74 degrees and by the middle of the night the room temperature had dropped to 64 degrees and the unit had still not cycled off. Thankfully Home Depot exchanged the unit for another one which functions properly. The thermostat is 6 degrees off however. I have to set it at 78 to give me 72 degree room temperature. It does cycle properly and keeps the room at an even temperature. The unit is rather noisy when the compressor is running. I measured 64 db from 1 meter away with my SPL meter. I think of it as "white noise" and it actually helps me get to sleep. All things considered it does what it's supposed to do. Just make sure the unit cycles properly and maintains a constant temperature.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I do recommend this portable air conditioner... however... I ordered it from homedepot.com and recieved it a week and a half later. I hooked it up to the window, plugged it in and it did not cool at all. I could hear the compressor come on but no cool air (I have an existing Haier portable and window unit so its easy to tell the difference between a fan and cold air).
So I packed it back up and took it to my local home depot store for an exchange. Unfortunately, they don't do exchanges so I got a refund (the store price is 50 bucks more). I bought the same portable from the store, took it home, hooked it up, plugged it in and bammo; cold air.
I am cooling about 420 sq ft and it does an okay job. Today its just about 100 outside and humid. I have had the air conditoner running all day and inside its 76. It hasn't stopped running but its keeping it more than tolerable inside.
As for noise level, its a big a 12,000 air conditioner inside the house. You have to expect its not going to be overly quiet. Personally I find it to be nice ambient noise ... when just the fan is on I'd say its pretty quiet. With the compressor running it sounds like an air conditioner.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have a 10'x10'x7' room that has to be kept at 76 degrees and 50 percent humidity 24/7. This is my 3rd12,000 btu portable, first was a Frigidaire, 2nd was a Delonghi and this is by far the most effeciant and quiet unit yet! You can barely hear it run and it blows 56 degree at unit, thats cold, will cool down the room quick and it's a very hot room!
I'm very impressed with this unit and would say it's the best out there!
Many nice functions, osillating fan, auto clean function, timer Etc.
Can you tell I love this unit yet?
