Earlier this week I had installed a Hunter Oakhurst ceiling fan and it was the 6th Hunter I've purchased. It was a major disappointment. The motor was so slow I could barely feel air move even when it was on the high setting. I should have read reviews about it before I bought it because my complaint was a common one among consumers who purchased this model.
After reading good reviews about the Hampton Bay Brookhurst, I took the other fan down, packaged it and returned it to Home Depot. The return went smoothly and I purchased the Hampton Bay Brookhurst.
I had read many reviews that mentioned when you mount it flush there are parts you need to remove and parts you don't use. I didn't have any trouble figuring out which ones but to help future installers of this fan, I am uploading a picture of all of the parts I had left over. You don't use the small extension rod, and you remove the cotter pin and 2 screws from the motor housing.
Like others, I had some difficulty getting the light kit wires into the small cavities, but that was about the only problem I encountered.
The rest of the assembly was fairly simple, but I've done many of these installations. I did trim some of the motor wires to make it easier to shove them into the electric box in the ceiling.
After I completed the installation I turned it on and was happy to see that it did have a healthy flow of air on high, much more than the Hunter that I returned.
By the way, when you buy a fan the two measurements you want to look at to determine how powerful the air flow will be are RPM and CFM. To give you an example: The Hunter Oakhurst had 141 RPM compared to the Hampton Bay RPM of 160, and more dramatically, the Hunter had 2049 CFM air flow, compared to the Hampton Bay's 4,469 CFM. These specs are listed in all of the Home Depot on line listings for each of their fans.
This fan was just $59.00 compared to the $89.00 Hunter and as far as I'm concerned it's a better fan. Not quite as fancy, but for an economically priced fan, you can't do any better.
Pros: Easy to Assemble, Well Made, Fast / Speed, Looks Great, Good Size & Weight, Nice Design
Cons: just having to cram the wiring into a small space

The Hampton Bay Brookhurst right after installation
I bought this fan after reading the reviews on here and scrolling through the cheapest fans for my home to help keep my old home cool until I get a in wall AC installed but until then this fan seems to be doing great at keeping the air cool and moving around the house.
I love the idea of having the extension or I can remove it for a closer installation to my ceiling but I chose to keep the extension on the fan to help move the air better.
I will sure recommend this fan to my family and friends and I want to buy a couple more of these for the other rooms soon.
Pros: Easy to Assemble, Functional, Well Made, Unique, High Quality of Material, Fast / Speed, Eco-Friendly, Looks Great, Stylish, Very Bright, Good Size & Weight, Nice Design, comes with energy saveing bulbs
This fan was to replace a smaller broken one. This is bigger than the one I had (5 blades instead of 4 and 3 bulbs instead of 1). It fits perfectly and I'm happy that it is bigger. The brightness of the lights are great! Even though it is winter and I won't be using the fan until Spring/Summer, I think it is going to be wonderful in cooling the room. It was really easy to put up. I didn't even have to read the directions. Very pleased!
Pros: Easy to Assemble, Functional, Well Made, Fast / Speed, Looks Great, Stylish, Very Bright, Good Size & Weight
Great looking fan, the looks are a nice clean and simple design, nothing that draws your eyes attention in a negative way. I had to balance one fan, in a total order of 4. there is no hideous pin striping or etching anywhere. very quiet fan and pushes alot of air. Buy this one! Three flourescents are more than enough.

I am a 73 year old woman and I installed this fan myself. I would say if I can do it anyone can. I added a remote control Make sure you have your fan on high speed at start, by checking your speed chain setting. Everything worked out great. I purchased the white fan for my kitchen which is about 15'x15' with a large opening into dinning room. I live in the desert, and I have been amazed all day at how it has cooled my home. Its great! I am recommending it to my friends.
This is a beautiful, quiet, effective ceiling fan. It took my husband a little longer to install it, because the wiring in our home was a little different. So, he used the Home Depot book I bought him years ago, called "Wiring 1-2-3" and got the job done. We are very pleased with the fan.

We are very pleased with the performance of this fan/light We installed one upstairs and one downstairs and they do move a lot of air throughout. They look very nice also. I am very happy they came with Compact Florescent bulbs. We have those throughout the rest of the house and they really save on electricity.
Pros: Easy to Assemble, Fast / Speed, Looks Great, Very Bright
I had these fans installed for me, the installer had no problems with the installation.
These are a clean looking, powerful fan. My parents had to reduce the AC by two degrees because of the cooling produced by these fans (second floor of the house).
I bought these for the great reviews, high air flow, color (white) to match my white ceilings, plus for the price it had a ceiling light fixture included with 3 CFL bulbs. Unbeatable combo in my opinion.
A word on the light produced. Color is 2700 Kelvins, or warm white. Each bulb wattage uses 13 watts. The lumens produced is 900 lumens, which I think is outstanding. I was going to replace the bulbs with LED's but the lumen production is so much I am going to wait until the bulbs wear out.
I am very pleased with these fans. I plan to purchase two more to replace working ceiling fans.
Great value, great fan speed, great light, highly recommend.
Pros: Well Made, Fast / Speed, Very Bright, Nice Design
Our small room had inadequate lighting for reading. In addition the room was usually 5 degrees warmer than the rest of the house so we decided to install a small fan. We ordered over the internet and picked it up in the elk Grove store. Never having ordered this way before we were pleasantly surprised and pleased with the service and process. The fan is perfect for our needs. We did have an electrician install it since we are not very handy around the house.

Have 4 brookhurst 52's around the house. 1 fell from the ceiling and amazing the only damage was that 2 of the blade holders bent. Called Home Depot and found out that they want $35.00 for the set of 5 or $20.00 for 2. This is the cheapest part of a $59.00 fan and they want more then 50% of the cost of a new fan just for the blade holder - Cant imagine what they would want for the motor! Good fan, bad if it breaks and you need a part. Better to just buy a new fan.
We installed our fan and it looked really nice. There was a loud motor noise when we ran the fan. We couldn't figure out why since we had installed others and they worked fine. After a lot of trial and error we decided that the p[roblem was our light switch had a dimmer on it. After installing a new regular switch, the fan noise disappeared. Wish we would haver known about the dimmer switch problem before.
I purchased this fan to replace one that had worked for 10 years. This unit is comparable, in terms of air movement and cost even less than the one it replaced.....................and that one was purchased 10 years ago!
