I waited over a year after I owned this fridge to write a review. The internal fan of the fridge stopped working. When the appliance repair guy came, he showed me what the factory installed fan looked like. It was just a cheap piece of plastic. no wonder it broke after a year.

not very functional with the freezer swing door as opposed to a pull out drawer. Also is pretty loud when it is running... Looks sharp but you could find the same look with something a little higher quality.

Nice fridge for the money.
We replaced a leaky top-freezer whirlpool that would freeze our greens and leak defrost water all over our refrigerator shelves.
The GE is a tad noisier than the whirlpool, but it is as nice as I had hoped. I only wish it had a built-in water filter like my whirlpool did.
I do like the lit freezer compartment and the on/off switch on the ice maker.

This fridge is wonderful! It is quieter and has more space than our previous fridge. HomeDepot was wonderful in helping us out. It was delivered on time, however we had asked that the doors be switched. The delivery men said that they don't do that kind of work, so I had to do it and broke one of my tools in the process. HomeDepot replaced my tool with no problem.
The fridge is very bright inside and it is easy to see everything. It is nice having the freezer on the bottom as we spend most of our time getting items from the fridge. Our 5 yr old daughter can get things from the bottom shelf (she is not very tall fifth percentile in height).
The one problem is getting the drawers open all the way. The fridge has walls on 3 sides so we have to angle the fridge to open the door wide enough to get the drawers all the way out. Not a problem unless you are particular to having everything square.
Overall very happy with our new Fridge and Home Depot.

We love how it looks in our kitchen. Our last refrigerator was quite noisy and this one we don't know when its running!
The door compartments are spaced well and we can get so much it the door it has opened up some shelf space.
The doors stays open as we stock it. We also love not having to bending over to get fruit or vegetables out.

I purchased this refrigerator in 2007 and it worked fine for 2 years. In February 2010 (Superbowl Sunday) the refrigerator stated to act up. I thought it was because my friends were opening it non stop and didn't think much of it. A couple of days later after I completely defrosted it, it started working again. Ever since that time it's been doing the same thing (not cooling) every two months. I've read a lot of bad reviews on the internet about GE products especially refrigerators, it seems like almost everyone's having the same problem with GE refrigerators. Do yourselves a favor, stay away from GE refrigerators.

Picked this up with a 10% off energy star appliance reward locally. We looked at some used side by side fridges that were almost the same cost.
Anyway, the fridge works great for us. It barely fit into the opening for our kitchen but the delivery people removed the doors and got it to fit. The door storage is great and will easily fit a couple gallon jugs and most everything else that you need to store in the door. The refrigerator section is nice and bright and it is easy to see everything that you want. If you have someone who is under 5 ft tall int eh house they will not be able to reach things on the top shelf but we placed our 3 gallon dispenser jugs there so no problem.
The icemaker is great and even though it is plumbed into my RO/DI unit it still has no problem making ice with the low water pressure the system creates. The arm to tell the icemaker that the bucket is full is a bit different but so far has not gotten in the way though the bucket could be a bit longer and wider.
The only real downfall is that the freezer really does not seem as large as you would think it should. We moved our things out of a 17cuft fridge with top freezer and though it looked like the fridge barely had anything in it the freezer was packed. So no real space increase there. But a larger unit overall that is well made and can have the doors open either direction with an icemaker included you will be hard pressed to find a more efficient unit for the price.

We replaced an 18+ year old refrigerator, and a day after installation, we are very pleased. I like the way the deep door shelves hold so much; makes things easy to find. The bottom freezer holds enough. It is harder to reach, but as frozen stuff keeps better, I'd rather be able to see and reach the more perishable foods. Not too loud, temperatures at factory settings are fine. The freezer basket will lift right out; I can set it on the counter to get a better look. I have not yet connected the ice maker and am considering disconnecting and removing it for more freezer space. White plastic trim on the glass shelf fronts seems flimsy and liable to break if bumped with heavy item, but bins and door shelves appear to be adequate.
Although the positions are fixed, the plastic door shelves can be removed for cleaning.

The top section has lots of space. Shelf is easy to adjust to your size. Gallon size drink holder by the door works great.

The freezer section of temperature control can be tricky for the first time use. The default setting was at 5 and it was not cold enough as ice cream is soft and ice bearly formed. I set to 9 and work backward. I end up settle around 6.5 to 7 in the hot summer day.
I don't use the ice maker ( too far from water source ) so I don't know how well it works.

We were mostly satisfied with this fridge. It isn't the quietest fridge on earth, but its not too bad. The freezer section is a little small, but if that is not your main focus, its tolerable. The fridge section has plenty of room for a family of three. Delivery and installation from Home Depot was uneventful, and quite good. Good value for money, for its price, I'm quite happy with the purchase.

They had to come install a temp controller because all our food melted after installation - couldn't get it cold enough. But the biggest problem is that you have to get down on your hands and knees to pull any ice out. Freezer is WAY too small. Don't consider this model unless you don't need to freeze anything and don't need ice.

i just purchased this unit only 3 wks ago ,and iam very disapointed in the unit only tht it isiEXTREMLY NOISY AND VERY ANNOYING .This is the loudest refrigerator that we have ever had.The sound continually resonates thru the house,and we have a fairly large house with high cielings. ,it runs for 45 minutes of every hour .You can not sit at the kitchen or dining room table just trying to relax,read your paper and have coffe . i now have to go out side on the porch just to read the paper .They are going to replace the fan motor and relay tomorrow ,but the have no hope that it will help ,.i AM PROBABLY GOING TO RETURN IT .IT WAY TO NOISEY IT WILL DRIVE YOU NUTS .

I just bought this GE Cleansteel fridge for my first house. Delivery was on-time and very gracious. The fridge looks very nice and is neither too small nor too large. the cleansteel exterior does not show fingerprints or smudges like stainless does.
This fridge is billed as being very quiet, which it is. Either the fridge is extremely efficient and only turns the compressor on rarely or it is so quiet that I cant hear it running. I can hear the icemaker dump the cubes but thats the only noticeable noise from it.
Fit and finish are exceptional. Amenities even on this cheapest version are quite nice. And it has a slightly retro-style rounded door that I preferred to the more angular models available.
The freezer is colder than I am used to and gets vodka to the perfect martini temperature so it doesnt need to be shaken, which is a timesaver when martini-time starts.
Compare closely with similar Samsung, LG, and Maytag models. This fridge is definitely on-par with a more expensive competitor.

Always thought I would like a bottom freezer fridge but not anymore. I have to stand on my head almost to find anything. Also it has a small drawer but most of the items are just stacked one on top of the other....yes you guessed it...need to go through each item till correct item is found.

This fridge is great. Very quiet, Very roomy. We needed a bigger fridge for the growing family. This fridge can fit two days of left overs, with 3 cartons of Juice, a load of condiments and 2 gallons of milk with room to spare. Very impressed. Ice maker is great and easy to install. No complaints.

My girlfriend and I have had this refrigerator for a few weeks now and we really like it. It has very good storage in the refrigerator section, although I wish I could find a better spot for our water filter.
I've always been a big fan of bottom freezers, but I wish it was a bit larger, as the ice machine does take up some of the storage space that we would like to use.

I am extremely happy with this product. Going from a side by side to a freezer on bottom provides more room in the refrigerator where I need it. The GE model has a dual adjustable top shelf that allows me to make the left higher and the right side lower to hold milk and taller containers. THe various compartments for lunch meat, cheese etc. are also excellent to help me see what I need to replace.

I SEARCHED ONLINE FOR A GOOD LOOKING FRIDGE THAT WAS IN MY PRICE RANGE. I FOUND THIS WAS THE COLOR I WANTED (I DON'T OWN ANYTHING STAINLESS STEEL) I ALSO WANTED THE FREEZER ON THE BOTTOM FOR A CONVENIENCE TO MY KIDS. IT IS A LITTLE MORE AWKWARD THAN I EXPECTED, AND I HAVE TO SWITCH THE WAY IT SWINGS OPEN TO PULL OUT THE BASKET INSIDE, I THOUGHT IT WOULD PULL STRAIGHT OUT BUT IT DOESN'T. THERE ALSO SHOULD BE ANOTHER COMPARTMENT ON THE DOOR A LONG ONE ON THE BOTTOM WOULD BE GREAT. (OF THE FREEZER) BUT I FIND THE FRIDGE TO HAVE A LOT OF ROOM AND OPTIONS FOR MOVING THINGS AROUND. VERY QUIET AND ENERGY EFFICIENT. A GREAT PURCHASE.
