Customer reviews for 3-in-1 Flooring Nailer and Stapler

3-in-1 Flooring Nailer and Stapler

The 3 in1 flooring nailer from NuMax is great for the professional and homeowner alike. This nailer is easy to operate and conveniently shoots all three types of flooring fasteners; flooring staples, T-Cleats, and L-Cleats ranging in size from 1-1/2 in. to 2 in. long. The NuMax nailer has a long handle that provides more comfortable use and the 2 interchangeable base plates allow you to install 1/2 in., 15/32 in., 5/8 in., 19/32 in., 3/4 in. and 25/32 in. tongue and groove wood flooring. The NuMax flooring nailer also comes with a non marring white rubber mallet, oil and wrenches. The NuMax flooring nailer is backed by a one year warranty. The NuMax nailers offer the best option over renting a flooring nailer due to its overall value in the flooring nailer category, quickly justifying its cost in relation to rental fees and time lost picking-up and returning the tool. Owning your own flooring nailer allows you to work at your own pace and sure the job is done right and not rush through it to avoid additional rental fees.

This product provides the versatility for 3 types of blind nailing applications. Instruction manual was helpful but some portions could be explained more clearly. Like other reviews, the importance of using pneumatic tool oil regularly will prevent misfire, jams of the plunger due to dryness. Once oiled there were no problems with the plunger. Experienced only one nail jam (using "t" cleats). Overall, this product was easy to use and performed well. I'd reccomend this product to others.
Pros: Easy to Use, Strong, Good Size & Weight
Cons: some clarification in some portions of the manual
Yes, I recommend this product.

I'm so glad I decided to purchase rather than rent a floor nailer, it allowed me to work at my own pace and schedule. The nailer worked flawlessly the entire project, never misfired or jammed which I had heard could be an issue with floor nailers.Drove all the nails perfectly at pressures ranging from 100 down to 80 psi so the compressor did not need to cycle that often.
Pros: All In One, Sturdy, Accurate, Good Size & Weight, Strong
Yes, I recommend this product.

I went out on a limb and bought this Numax floor stapler because it has such good reviews. I have zero regrets! This thing works like a champ. I just finished about 500sf of solid 3/4 red oak with no problems whatsoever. I had 800sf total and did the first 300sf with the floor stapler Home Depot rents for $32 for 24hrs. I could tell no difference, and I didn't have to worry about getting it back on time. I could also use the same 1 1/2" Bostitch staples I was using with the Home Depot rental (good thing cause I bought a case). With the wood I have left over I think I'll knock out the walk in closet. I own my own floor stapler! Smart purchase.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Sturdy, Good Size & Weight, Light Weight
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought this to intall 750 sq.ft. of oak 3/4" T&G flooring. I've never install a floor like this or used a floor nailer. It worked great! It does take a little getting used to. Don't hit it too lightly or it won't completely drive the nails. If you do get a nail not driven completely drive it in with a flat punch or if it won't go clamp onto it with Vise-Grips and wiggle it until it snaps off. The nails will not pull out without damaging the boards. When you get near the walls it may be difficult to hit it sharply enough to get it to fire correctly though. In addition get a 2 1/2" finish nailer and 2" finish nails. You will need it around the edges and where you can't fit this nailer! It sounds like a gun firing so you may want hearing protection.
Pros: Sturdy
Cons: No Instructions
Yes, I recommend this product.

This 3-in-1 flooring nailer and stapler performs as advertised. I purchased it to complete a headboard project where I used expensive 3/4" hand-scraped maple flooring (also from Home Depot) on top of 3/4" plywood. First time using a flooring nailer and here's what I learned. This nailer make a loud pop when you strike it. I wondered if the neighbors would call the police thinking it was a handgun. When striking the nailer, hit it like you mean it. I had two nails not go all the way in because I didn't hit the striker hard enough. I used Porta-Nails1-1/2 in. x 16-Gauge Taped 1M Bright Steel T-Head Hardwood Flooring Nails and they worked great. I had zero nails go all the way through the 3/4" backer board (aka my "subfloor") and that was key to having a smooth back on my finished product. Finally, per the flooring directions, I nailed the tongue side of the boards. For those in the flooring business you can laugh if that's the way ALL flooring is assembled with a flooring nailer but I'm a basic DIY'er and I'm learning as I go. I've seen a few pros on TV using a nailer on the groove side and I don't know which is correct. Overall, this product worked great and my headboard looks fantastic (see photos). If you remove the bolts holding the handle to the nailer it will fit in a VERY large tool bag along with the rest of your flooring tools and nails.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Sturdy, Accurate, Strong
Yes, I recommend this product.

Bought this nailer to perform a 3/4" hardwood floor install that I knew would take me several weeks due to my time restraints and I am not a pro. Would have been much more expensive to rent one than just to buy this one. I have finished one room (dining room) and am in the process of completing a living room and it works GREAT! After hooking up the air compressor to it the install has gone smoothly. One jam so far due to operator error, I hit it too lightly once, but was able to get it cleared quickly and easily. Leaves no marks on the floor and is sturdy. Works well for the weekend project guy like me. The floor came out great.
Pros: Easy to Use, Sturdy, Accurate, Good Size & Weight
Cons: none so far
Yes, I recommend this product.

Just got done laying 400 sq ft of 3/4" birch. Never had a jam. You've got to watch for mis-hits, though most of the time, the nail still went in far enough. However, even in tight places, you can still get enough on it to make it pop.
I've got another 600 sq ft to go and I have no problem relying on this nailer. And for the price, well, it's equivalent to 2 weekly rentals or about 5 daily rentals. If you've got a lot of floor to do and you're only a weekend warrior, you'll save a ton of money buying this nailer instead of renting.
Pros: Easy to Use, Sturdy, Accurate, Durable, Strong
Cons: no safety trigger
Yes, I recommend this product.

I saved thousands of dollars installing the floor myself. With every project I like to pick up new tools. I have never installed a floor before, and when I found out the cost per square foot my flooring I choked. So I purchased the nail gun and a compressor and went to work. I've never worked with a nail gun or compressor but have some wood working skills. This was flat out fun and really quite easy. I installed over 1500 SQFT over a few weeks and chipped away at it every night and on weekends. End result is a gorgeous walnut floor. Definitely get some good knee pads and hearing protection. It did slow down working at one point, but a few drops of oil was all it needed and I got back in the swing. Definitely worth the price. I don't think it matters if you use the Tee or L nails.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I finished almost 3/4 of 1 room last weekend and went thru 1 box of 1000 L nails already and not 1 problem with this gun

Read other reviews and decided to try this nailer. As others stated it performed flawlessly. I followed other guidelines and put a couple drops of oil in the line with each new set of nails, and used 90PSI (95 was too much!) of air and installed a HW floor in a 10x12 dining room without issue. The 3-4 nails that didn't seat properly were entirely my fault for not striking the gun right (too much of an angle or too softly), and all I did was use a pair of pliers to bend the nail back and forth a few times until it broke off flush with the tongue, no harm done. My only complaint is that it wasn't clear to me (novice to using a side-nailer thougth!) exactly how to properly insert the nails. The instructions were vague in that area, but I (obviously) figured it out pretty quickly.
The gun never jammed, and yes, even with care the rubber sleeve on the handle twisted and started to slide off, so expect that, or tape it in place PRIOR to starting if that bothers you!
I HIGHLY recommend this tool.
Pros: Easy to Use, Sturdy, Accurate, Good Size & Weight, Durable

I was unable to adjust this nailer to shoot the cleats so that they allow the following boards tongue to clear on my 5/8" hard wood installation. I had to follow up with each "nail" and sink it with a punch. The job was small so I continued this way until the job was finished.
I used the maximum amount of air pressure 120 lbs starting at 90 lbs without success. Changing the supplied plates, both the 25/32 and 1/2 did not help. The tool is however seemingly high quality and machined well.
Pros: Good Size & Weight
Cons: not as advertised

My wife and I did a staircase, a landing and bridge from one side of our house to the other. It performed flawlessly, we had a couple lite hits or mishits on the air release plunger but we cut the staple head and kept on going. It saves a lot of time and wood looks great. I would recommend this product to anyone getting ready to do a wood floor. You cannot beat the price and performance for a DIY project!
