Overall good quality, solid wood. Just be prepared to do some sanding to get a cabinet grade finish. I used Minwax spar varnish, and after 5 rubbed on coats, they have a mirror finish.
One tread was damaged in shipment (no fault of Home Depot). I took it back and got a replacement shipped the same day at a discounted price. Shipping is free on these also.

The wood took stain well. there was 2 pieces had cracks on the ends but I had to cut that part off anyway

The red oak treads required a light sanding and finished well with your choice of stain and varnish. The treads did not have any checks or tear outs to worry about placement. The grain pattern was straight with zero brown or black knots. Overall this was a great product to add value to your home.

Products (I bought 3) were exactly as described. Good solid stair builder's grade tread. Slight variation in color between boards used to make up each tread, which is to be expected when purchasing Builder's grade.

Very nice product. I don't have any problems with the treads and would recommend them to anyone with moderate carpentry skills, not for the novice. Each tread has at least one clean side, for most both sides have no flaws.

We stained the treads w/ red oak stain and put polyurethane on them. They are outstanding and perfectly match the brizilian cherry laminate we have upstairs

We deceided to do our stairs on the weekend. Ordered the product on Wednesday night at 10:30pm. they had free standard shipping so we picked that even though we knew that usually takes longer. We thought we wouldn't be able to do the stairs on the weekend as we knew the product wouldn't be here with standard shipping. It arrived on Friday at noon!! Very fast shipping! The Treads were perfect and ready for staining. They look beautiful. Highly recommend.
