This 6-circuit, 30 Amp manual transfer switch is designed for fast installation (indoors) in a home, office or small business. It is completely pre-wired and enables the electrical system of the building to accept the power of a portable generator to run up to six single-pole circuits OR four single-pole circuits and one 20A double pole circuit. It allows you to power electrical appliances, devices and lighting during a power outage. This transfer switch is completely code compliant and keeps the generator power isolated from the utility power at all times.

Had this installed in spring, well here in Michigan on 7-3-12 we had a huge storm go through and lost power for 21 hours. So got out my 6750 Honda generator from the depot had this Generator for about 10 yrs and used extension cords for 3 other times. plugged into the outside plug switched over the backup box and powered up 2 refridges, freezer, sump pump, and kitchen lights and most of all the COFFEE pot.
I highly recommend this unit absolutely no problems. After the power went out had it up and running in 15 minutes, Oh BTW my neighbors basement got 3 inches of water sump filled up, I told him to get one!. ran strong for 21 hours and no fried appliances..

The installation manual was really good on stepping you through the installation, it also came with a DVD to help you. Made in U.S.A. product with good quality components. Every thing was included with the exception of the building wire needed to run to the outside box. This makes using your generator very handy , no more extension cords running around the house.When finished gave it a test run and everything worked as suppose to.

It is a very good product,but it does not come with the box for the receptacle or the cord.Purchase this product at the store and it comes with everything you need.Buying online is cheaper but you need the box and the cord and they are not cheap.

I ordered this product on line and was told by the electrican that it was far better quality than what was in the store. I loved the free shipping, but was diappointed in the time it took for me to receive it. I wish I had installed this product years ago. Noiw it is no longer a hassle to hook up my genereator.

This is a good product and with some diligence you can probably install it on your own. I don't have a 240V generator but rather a little Honda 2200 Watt with only a standard 3 prong plug. It took a bit of research to figure out how to wire a 3 prong plug cord (put a jumper on the X & Y) to the adapter that plugs into the inlet (don't try to power any 240V circuits!) There is a great video online that shows you how to do the full installation. I saw no reference to this video in the manual. Their advice about having an electrician is probably good, although a typical handy man can figure it all out. Definitely more than a 15 minute job for me (maybe 4 hours to figure it all out for me) but its doable. Glad I bought the product and now I have a solid backup plan on the the circuits in my home that matter.

I called 4 electricians and not one called me back. I was glad that they didn't because I gave it a shot myself. Simple, simple, simple. Great instructions.. Clear and concise. Works like a charm. If you understand the basics of electrical work, you are all set. Product seems sturdy and well made. I would recommend it.

Installation took an hour of my time. I disassembled the remote outlet box in order to install the receptacle in the transfer switch. I would have liked it if the plastic cover accessory was part of the kit.
