I bought two of these heaters in an attempt to lower an astronomical heating bill. By using two Pelonis 1500-watt portable electric oil-filled radiant heaters instead of one monstrous furnace, we lowered our bill by about 25%. I thought it would lower the bill more than it did, but it was definitely worth it.

The heater works quite good and warmup medium sized room and it is comfortable. The control however is confusing. Even when it is swiched off (plugged in), if I turn the temp nobe, the power light still comes on, but the heater is off. This is confusing, but does not affect the quality of this product.

Add us to the other positive reviews about this Pelonis Heater. Often use them instead of our furnace and notice only a $10 to $15 monthly increase of our electric bills. Since our furnace is an oil furnace, this is a great deal for us. BTW, house is approximate 2400 sq ft and we use 3 of these on colder nights.

Used this guy all winter during the nights. Kept my room a nice 68 degrees compared to without it getting down to 58-62ish. I needed this because the central heat does not heat my room well, during the day computers keep my room warm. Seemed very energy efficient just turning it on low with thermostat about ¾ the way up at midnight when I crawled in bed (room is normally 70 at that time) and then shutting it off at 7am when I got up. i think I figured about $2 a week doing it this way for a week (used a kilowatt). Keep in mind the room I used it in was about 24x15 with 9ft ceiling and very well insulated and the door shut and electricity is around 12 cents per KW/hr here.
I do have some complaints about the unit: The nut/bolt system for the legs/feet were not tight. On anything higher than low setting the unit creaks like crazy (kept me up) when heating up and cooling down. The light on the front is really bright (some black electrical tape fixed that). The unit does get very hot so beware if you have kids. If I remember I measured around 190-200 degrees in some spots (infrared thermometer).
Even with all those complains (all minor to me) the unit is great for the money and efficiency for what I need it for.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have never owned an oil heater but am very very happy with the five that I now have spread around my house. They do not blow hot, dry air that adds to the static electricity shocks. They don't dry out my kids' rooms while they sleep. And they don't make any noise. They also keep a more constant heat in each room, easily controlled with the dial and switches. Out of the five I bought from Home Depot I have one that smelled funny for a few days but is fine now. Highly recommend this heater.

I purchased this heater because of a non insulated house. Very surprised on how warm it kept our bedroom. We actually had to put it on a lower setting this thing gets hot! After about 3 months of use the control knob broke, but if you take the knob off with pliers and a paint scraper, you can turn the metal knob inside with the pliers. Not that big of a deal for the price. It has kept our electric bill as it normally would be definitely no increase. I would recommend this item to anyone that needs to stay warm without increasing electric bill. I would say that it is pretty safe because if it Is too hot it shuts off to a lower setting. No complaints I love this heater.

I recently moved in to a small old house. There is no insulation in the walls and no heating. I bought this heater to keep my room warm, it is probably a 10x11 with two windows, one small and one large. They don't keep out much cold. I only have the small window covered with a thermal back curtain. Regardless of all the ways heat can escape this heater has worked very well. Fist I turn it on high for about an hour. Then I can keep it on low the rest of the time. Have no idea how energy efficient it really is because there are other people living in the house with different heating elements. It is easy to use, and after the first two times of using it, the new oil smell dissipated. I have been using it for two months.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Aside from confusion when picking this unit up in store (the website lists two different, but similar units with the same SKU), the process has been painless. This warms my bedroom well as long as you make sure the door is closed to prevent drafts. I am not commenting on the energy efficiency because I have not used it long enough to see a change. I've read reviews where various heaters of this type (not necessarily this one) break, but so far mine has worked flawlessly. This is definitely worth the $38 I paid for it.

I use these in tack rooms for our horse stable. I can put them on the low setting and they don't use a lot of electricity. They are so safe and we use them where I need power on a temporary basis. We have 6 of them. I have had the part of the heater quit working after several years of use. They are safer and more reliable then those with electric coils.

I bought this heater because it was the cheapest I could find around - it worked fine a few months and then the knob that selects temperature broke. I am no longer able to turn the unit off or on. I tried to contact the company and the emails bounced back to me and phone calls went to recordings. Avoid this product - spend a few extra dollars and choose a more reputable company.

The first thing I noted when preparing to mount the wheel on this heater, was the sound of the oil inside it sloshing around. So while the description may sound as if it is packed with oil, mine sounded as if it was perhaps only 1//3 full, and certainly no more than 1/2. I suspect it has enough to cover the heating element(s), and not much more.
There was minor damage in shipment (one of the end fins was bent), but nothing that affected functionality. This, however, points out that packaging could be a bit better for shipment.
I've been using it in my bedroom for some time now, and it works well, running most of the time on the 600 watt setting. One reason I went with this unit is that a 1500 watt heater puts too much load on the circuit (shared with the adjacent living room wall), and even 1000 watts may be pushing it.
While I have yet to run the heater at the full 1500 watt setting, I have run it a few times at 900 watts, and the fins still do not get hot enough to present a burn hazard. I expect at 1500 watts, you would not burn yourself if you simply bumped into it, but you'd certainly know you had.
It works well enough with convection only, but I found pointing a fan at the ceiling to stir the air a bit seems to improve efficiency. It may seem odd to purchase a silent heater and use a fan, but I've found the fan to be the failure point of other heaters I have purchased, and with this, I have the option to have it as a separate component, or not use one at all.
My concern about the heater over the long term is the thermostatic control, which has a distinct electro-mechanical click when switching on and off. Some might find that disturbing in a quiet environment, but I find it a comforting reassurance it is operating properly.
Yes, I recommend this product.

We have purchased 2 of these units and both are working great. We put these in 2 bedrooms so we can heat those 2 rooms up at night when our furnace thermostat drops the house to 60 degrees. They are quiet and stay warm even when the unit is not heating due to the fact that they are filled with oil.

My husband compared the electrical usage of this heater with several others and found this to be the most economical. We live in the mountains and use one of these in our bathroom at night to keep it comfortably warm. It is safe, easy to use and doesn't get so hot that it burns you if you bump into it.

This met all my expectations. I was surprised how quiet it is. It is not based on heating electric coils which would wake me up while sleeping. Instead, it is based on heating oil inside the heater which is quiet all night. The thermostat keeps my bedroom temperature right where I want it.

It heats up a small room fairly well but it takes a while. The lack of a fan is nice. Unfortunately, the power switch gave out on mine in just over 1 year - just after the warranty expired. Too expensive to repair. Even if it is under warranty when it breaks, you have to pay for shipping which costs almost as much as a new one AND they say they may take up to 60 days to repair or replace it!
No, I do not recommend this product.
