I've had this washer for a couple of weeks now and it works great. Its so quiet I keep checking on it periodically to see if its washing still. My last washer was so loud you could hear it all over the entire house and when it started to spin it shook the entire house. This LG washer never vibrates the house and is super quiet. It really throws the clothes around during the wash cycle too. I wasn't too sure how a washer without an agitator could clean clothes, but this washer put my doubts to bed. It's kinda neat being able to look through the glass lid and see whats going on inside during the wash cycle, its kinda fun in a weird way. Clothes always get clean and it doesn't need a whole lot of water to do it either. One thing I had trouble deciding on was what he detergent to try as I have never had the need for he detergent before. I ended up choosing the liquid arm & hammer clinically tested for sensitive skin with light scent he detergent and it works great. A lot of people have had problems with skin allergies and such with he detergents I've read, but no problems with the A&H and we have babies who get their clothes washed with no issues too. Overall really satisfied with this washer. Hope it lasts a long time and doesn't have issues. I wish it wasn't so expensive though.. I mean close to a thousand dollars for a washer.. wow, never thought I'd spend that kinda money for a washer.

Our front load GE finally died after only 5 years. We decided to look at a top load this time because the front load was just a mold and stink trap. We decided to give LG a try because our recent experience with other brands was not so good. This machine has the most positive reviews out of all the top load HE machines. They were right, this is a great replacement to a front loader.
If you are considering a new machine, this is the way to go. Keep in mind that the cost might be slightly higher, but when you add pedestals to front loaders, the price is higher.
Our laundry time is cut in half and we have kids that get dirty. Stinky work clothes come clean with no problem! A king sized comforter also washes with ease! The 10 year motor warranty is also nice and not offered by anyone else.

The Pros: Spacious and silent
The Cons: Lint gets stuck on the clothes on certain fabric & clothes often get tangled up. I had no idea when it started happening, but I noticed recently that the fabric softener dispenses right after the detergent. And when I try to use just the spin cycle to get rid of excess water, more water fills up the tub before it will even spin. I am quite disappointed with the overall performance, to say the least.

Overall I am pleased with this washer after a year. The quality seem great and I have had no problems. Only two things I don't like, even on lowest setting it spins really hard and I always use the extra rinse because I don't like the small amount of water the machine uses and this makes the cycle take over an hour.

This washing machine has radically reduced my electric bill and my water use, I'm saving about $30 a month so far. The clothes come out perfectly clean, even with the truly ground-in dirt my son picks up, and if you use appropriate settings (read the manual) you should not have any problem with clothes tangling, as I read in some reviews. And not having the central agitator has saved a LOT of wear and tear on my clothes. It seemed we were always getting something torn or caught in our old washer.
My great disappointment is that there is no way to wash delicate things in this machine. There is no setting for things to just soak - the soak cycle simply adds an extra thirty minutes to your wash cycle and agitates the whole time. The unit is set to drain after 8 minutes when you pause the cycle. And the way that the agitator moves water through the fabric even the 'gentle' agitation of the soak cycle is just too hard on delicate fabrics. I still rate the washer very highly and would recommend it, but be aware that you're going to be stuck washing your delicates in the sink again.

I was so worried after purchasing my LG top loader then reading all the terrible reviews about how it will destroy the clothes and doesn't clean them. Do not fear these washers are great. I was warned that there was no agitator to wash the clothes with - that water would only spray on them - False - they soak in the water just like my old washer.....These washers do have an agitator to swish the clothes in the bucket of the washer - the agitator is just short and called a wave maker. The clothes get wet, soapy and rinsed well. All stains came out and the clothes were clean. The clothes weren't thrown up against the wall of the washer and destroyed as it was reported they would be. You can use the pre selected types of washes but then you can further adjust the size of the load, the temperature, the spin etc....so easy to do. Please don't let the reviews frighten you. I almost cancelled my delivery after reading them - so glad that I did not.... I actually talked to several people who I knew had bought this same one and they loved theirs too. I absolutely love my LG top loader ! I also purchased the electric dryer and love it too.

I have had this machine for a year now worst ever! I have been dealing with the lg company the whole time. It puts holes in my clothes and shreds them. They made me get second opinions and it has taken a whole year for them to admit their problem. Anyone who says it works, I just wonder. The manufacturing warehouse person told the mechanic they are aware of the problem and they have no fix for it. So it would have to be the same for all of them because it's the design of the machine. DO NOT BUY!

I did my homework and the pay off has been satisfactory. Before buying this product I read reviews and also talked with other people about the fact that there is no agitator. Its amazing how much I can fit in this machine and how wonderful it just magically fills to level needed and away you go. There are lots of fun buttons but generally I won't use some of them. This is my first and very own new appliance, I just love my washer.

I've never been this happy to do laundry!! Clean clothes, happy mom... what more can you ask for?!!
The first nite we had the washer I did 3 loads! I really like that you can adjust the spin strength. Having the internal water heater is also very helpful.

We can't even tell its running, thats how quiet it is. Our old machine was very very noisy, and it was only 1 year old.

I bought the washer about 3 months ago. I wanted to use it for awhile before saying weather I liked it or not. And now I can say I LOVE it. My clothes come out clean and have no problems with them getting wet like some front opening ones. It is important to pick the setting based on clothes and not convenience. If it is towels pick that setting. I do like the manual override option if I choose to wash on all cold instead of warm/cold. very happy

This product seemed good for the first few weeks. However, we have only owned it for 2 months and it has broken 3 times. We are a family of four and it gets normal use. They are slow to repair it. Each time it took them 4-7 days to come and work on it. We are very disappointed. I do not expect a washer to break 3 times in 2 months of use. We either have a lemon or this is a bad product.

Very positive experience, as we had hoped from others' reviews. More fun to use than our old machine, too, so the kids do their laundry with less urging.
You do need to be careful not to overdo the size of the loads. Just because the cavernous interior CAN fit three loads doesn't mean it should. If you load it too much, clothes will end up wrinkled.
Overall, we love it!

Just purchased the LG 4.5 washer and dryer and so far it has fulfilled my expectations. Clothes come out looking and smelling so clean. Drying time has been lessen greatly due to the spinning action of the washer. Did lots of research before purchasing and LG stood out. Very pleased, and Home Depot's service and delivery was outstanding!

I wasn't sure what to make of this washing machine. I didn't even realize you needed special detergent, but thankfully figured it out before it's first use. The first time we used it, my whole family watched in awe as it leveled the clothes out on it's own. It uses only the water it needs. I'm still trying to figure out the best settings for my clothes but the options are endless. It's quiet, efficient, and I would say the only thing that is negative is some of the cycles run well over an hour 1/2. I mean 100 minutes is a long time for a cycle. There are some 40-50 minute cycles, but my old washer would run for 1/2 max, so that took getting used to.

I replaced a 17 year old washer as the agitator was starting to poke holes in clothing. I had been keeping my eye on new washers/dryers in anticipation of this day. What I did not realize was the extent of change in the industry. This washer is exceptional: smart, efficient, larger capacity than the one replaced in a smaller footprint, quiet. I would recommend to anyone.

Cycle times range from 45-60 min's for very small or large load . Conserves water & therefore I think does not clean as good as my old whirlpool. Uses special detergent, with less sudsing.
