We had our doubts but had to get one in the store for a party we're having. Didn't have time to order online etc.
1) the cover is not well made and only covers the head. Not terrible since we wanted to get one that covers the whole unit
2) the tilt top really works. I wasn't so sure when buying it but you can set this up to the side of a group and aim the heat - really nice.
3) yes - goes out easily if you bang it. Found we could adjust the top while on - but you need to be very gentle. With kids around etc, I am otherwise happy that it kicks off if you hit it.
4) Not perfectly straight - close enough for us for an outside appliance thought the will rarely be on a perfectly flat surface.
Hope it lasts a while. Thought it was better to get a powder coated unit at this price range than one that's made with low end stainless. we'll see.
Yes, I recommend this product.

bought this unit for my wife for Christmas. It worked over New Years. Then... hard to lite and it will not stay lit. It runs for 5-10 min then shuts off. I think it is the thermostat... what a pain and waste of money.

Bought this solely based on its ability to tilt the heat reflector. The directions are pretty clear but there are a lot of parts, so expect to take a little time (maybe 30 minutes) to put it together. Looks great when assembled and works really well. Great value. Be careful not to over-torque the screws as I torqued off one head and there are zero spare hardware screws in the kit. I ordered two of these on-line for in-store pickup and the process went smoothly.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Unit takes forever to light. Once you do get it going, you can't touch it. Not even to adjust the reflector or the burner will go out every time. Even when just taping the post with your finger. Move on to a better unit. You'll spend a little more, but at least you'll have something that works.
Also, the unit came with a dented reflector panel. Not a big deal. However, 1 of the 3 essential brackets that fit around the tank was missing. You can't put the thing together without it. How can they miss packing such an essential part?

I looked at several patio heaters before deciding to purchase this one. We've had this it for over a year, and is still in great condition. It ignites easily, has wheels to move it around, and heats well, even in winter wihen temperatures are in the 40's (F.). We use it in three seasons in the Washington D.C. area, and especiallly appreciate the the variable temperature control, and the ability to direct the heat.
It assembles fairly easily, but I did initially assemble some of the parts incorrectly; however it was obvious to see the error and correct..
I did break the zipper on the cover, but otherwise this is an excellent heater and a great value.. .
Yes, I recommend this product.

Its hard to find a patio heater that looks nice, and this one does! The complete "brown" color from the top to bottom offers an expensive look, and it REALLY gives off nice heat. I sat 8 feet from it at full "on" and had to turn it back...its like sitting by a fire. The heat focus feature works amazingly well....so glad I didn't go with the standard flat top. Being able to focus the heat really works GREAT!!! At this price, this one is a steal...buy it!

I've had this heater for about a year. As a heater it works well but the dome started to rust wihin a few months. I will now be replacing the heater with one that is stainless steel. I can't tell that the "heat-focusing" feature does any good.

I bought this heater a year ago to replace the more clumsy propane heaters you would normally see on a job site. The reason behind buying heater in the first place was to warm my garage during the cold months to work in as well as to hang with the guys to watch football (built out into a man cave/garage) and occasionally to take to the lower patio to cut the chill on a nice fall evening. I am sure glad I bought this one. Well worth the money. The ease of installation (put it together by myself) and the look are outstanding. The durability is superb and the functionality is almost perfect. The only Issue I have is a hard time starting when the starting coil is dirty. Needs a little tapping or cleaning then it runs great. The tilt reflector is a PLUS. Instead of only being able to heat a certain area (directly around the heater, I can direct the flow of heat to where it is best needed. I have a 3 car garage and this heater heats up the entire garage in no time and with only half flame. I have used it on our deck and patio and it works great there too. Burins a little more seeing it is in a open area though the directional reflector is a must and helps to conserve fuel burn. I would buy this again and have done so for gifts.
Yes, I recommend this product.

We purchased this outdoor heater with the hope of extending our outdoor time later into the fall. We never got beyond step one of the assembly. There are pre-installed screws in the base that need to be removed and reinstalled as part of the base unit. We tried every tool imaginable to remove the six bolts... after an hour of trying we came to the conclusion the parts were stripped (not by us). We re-boxed everything and are returning it. We are going to try a different brand and see how it goes. Better luck to the next buyer.

Put together easily following the instructions. We were concerned about getting any patio heater thorough the back door into the garage, because the door is narrow. We found that if you tilt the reflector on the unit, it narrows the width by 10 inches, making moving it in and out a simple task. We didn't go looking for the directional reflector and if it hadn't been the only patio heater they had, we wouldn't have gotten it. Now we are really happy we did. It heats our San Francisco foggy patio nicely.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Wow! Used it for the first time yesterday when friends were over, and we all absolutely love it. I agree with reviewer Harley2001, the specs on the indicate that the thermostat is not adjustable, but it is........I live in an area that usually always get foggy.....while using this heater, we stayed out there until 9 p.m.....only packed things up because it got dark. The tilting reflectors worked great......we didn't need to huddle up right under it to feel the heat. AWESOME value for great price too!

We really enjoyed this lamp. For three weeks, after which it began throwing out yellow flames and belching black smoke. You might pay more for other models, but you're almost certain to get better longevity.

I've had 3 patio heaters in the last 3 years or so and this one is BY FAR the best one I've owned. One great feature is the tilting hood which was not on any of the others I've used. Works better than great. Starts on a dime every time. I bought a 30 lb. tank (which is too big for the tank holder) but I just leave the door open and hook it up outside the heater. The ad says the thermostat is not adjustable, but it is. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone.

Works very well. Lights on the first spark. Puts out a lot of heat. Tilt feature of reflector is very nice.
But: It is getting rusty after only six months of use.
The hardware supplied to assemble the reflector is not rust proof and now is very rusty, The bail on the door latch is rusty.
The perforated metal heat generator (the part that gets red hot) is now warped and buckled around the circumference.
I recommend spending another $100 for a stainless steel heater. The extra dollars spent on a better quality unit will pay out over the long haul because it will last many years instead of only one or two.
Don't expect any radiant heater to be of much use in the wind, even a breeze will render it ineffective.
No, I do not recommend this product.

This propane powered patio heater is so much more effective then other patio heaters. If you just want to stand under one to talk then that is fine. This one however you can sit down, tilt the deflector and direct the heat to where you are. Haven't seen any others that work like that. This is the best. Thank you Home Depot for carrying this.

Best patio heater I've ever owned. Easy to assemble, fires up in an instant. This unit was half the price of my previous heaters and three times more effective. The adjustable hood is terrific. You don't seek the heat, the heat is directed to you. I've ordered another for us and Christmas gifts for our two sons.

This thing is the BOMB! We have some friends who have a patio heater and you have to stand directly under it to feel the heat, but this one radiates heat fantastically. We and our dinner guests were able to sit comfortably out on our deck and didn't have to huddle under it to keep warm. I can't tell you how effective the tilting hood is since we didn't have to use it. This was a great buy at a great price.
