Bought as a replacement. A little odd at first to see the platter move back and forth and side to side, but wow what a difference. Odd shaped platters don't bang into the sides and door any more! The automatic "Dinner Plate" works great. Warms left overs to the correct temp automatically and doesn't dry them out or overheat. All in all, much better than units I have seen at higher prices. Couldn't be happier!

if it wasnt so expensive and i just sat it on the counter, maybe not such a big deal. Ive never seen a microwave take a dump that fast!

I have used all Maytag appliances for 25 years in my home. My new Maytag microwave is so huge (height 17.25” X depth 17”) my 12 qt stock pot will not fit under the microwave on my Maytag cook top where I can still stir the pot. The venting is out top where dust and dirt can collect. Turn on the fan and the dust bunnies fly all over your food. The new Maytag replacement appliances are not the same quality as the ones purchases 20 years ago. After 25 years of Maytag loyalty and good service from their products I have had to mix and match appliances to get them to fit into my 20 year old cabinets.
Why have appliances gotten so huge and poorly designed? Some folks still cook at home and we don’t need chef grade appliance to make a good meal. The good news is Home Depot allowed me to return the Maytag microwave that I bought online with Pay Pal. They gave me no hassle in the return. Very happy with Home Depot customer service.

Microwave works fine, the exhaust fan is very weak, steam from pots on the stove bypasses the fan intake and condenses all over the front of the microwave.

It had everything I wanted: two light intensity (night and bright) that illuminate the stove well, two fan speeds that are both quiet but plenty powerful for a boiling pot of spaghetti, one touch cooking (hit the add minute button), and a way to eliminate the beep that occurs every time you hit a button. It is much quieter than my last microwave, and cooks everything well.
My only gripe, and it is a very MINOR gripe, is that the mounting screw holes are not well placed. One is a couple inches from the edge, the other about 10 inches from the edge. This doesn't sound like an issue, but it caused two for me. First I could only reuse one of the previous holes in the cabinet to mount the microwave--a new hole had to be drilled in the cabinet on the other side. Kind of a bummer. Second, the microwave mounting screw tightened the microwave right up to the cabinet on the left, but because the screw wasn't close to the edge on the right, it wouldn't pull the microwave tight up to the cabinet. I'm only talking a 16th of an inch gap, but it seems like if they just put the screw closer to the edge it would be more structurally sound. It would have been perfect in that case.

Love this microwave, it fits perfectly above the stove, we had a very tight space with no wiggle room and it went in just right. Venting and lighting is good, microwave works great and the color is good, all black all over - since my appliances are all different brands, helped to have it be solid black to match better.

Love the way this microwave helps with the defrost. On all other microwaves I always had trouble setting it for defrost. I never could get the poundage right. This walks you though each step and its so easy to use.

The shipping was way too long. Had I known it would be delivered by Home Depot and take that long I most likely would have just gone out and bought one. However, the cost of delivery was perfect! Free!

I have only had this microwave for about three weeks but so far I am very happy with the performance. It is also a nice looking unit. It does stick out a little further and hang a little lower than my old one but the black sides negate that fact. It has as many features as you could possibly want. I particularly like the reheat dinner plate option.

This is a great microwave in this price range. It is pleasing to the eye, easy to use, and works just as it should. This is the second Maytag 1.6 cf unit I have installed. The first for my family and the second for my parents. Installation is relatively simple and straight forward. The only problem I encountered was with the second unit, the installation template was printed upside down. I would recommend this unit.

Positive: This is a great basic Microwave for the money. This microwave is easy to install and has basic features that make it easy to use: Turn table, Kitchen timer, Surface Light, Recirculating Exhaust fan that can be converted to a wall or roof vent.
