EcoConserve 33 in. W 21.9 cu. ft. Bottom Freezer Refrigerator in Stainless Steel

Fit plenty of food storage in a small space with this EcoConserve bottom-freezer refrigerator that fits in a 33-inch opening. This refrigerator uses less energy than a 60-watt bulb running continuously for one year, and it's 30 percent more efficient than minimum federal energy standards require. Spill-Catcher glass shelves help make cleanup a breeze and a half-width deli drawer adjusts to accommodate tall items on the shelves. And when you need something frozen, just open the glide-out bottom freezer drawer with SmoothClose tracks.

(Cons) The temperature controls are easy to read, but you don't have a reference point to the number. We ended up purchasing a dial thermometer to place in the refrigerator to determine the proper setting. We have to set the temp. to level 5 (of 7) in order to maintain about 40-45 degrees (F). I think that is kind of high. If you want to be able to reverse the upper door, this model is not the one to purchase.
(Pros) The upper door holds a gallon of milk or other large containers for easy access. The freezer is very efficient to use (compared to a side by side) and quite large (you can store larger items easily), and the unit is easy to clean if you have a spill. For the money, it is a fairly good value
Pros: Easy to Clean, Easy to Use, Looks Great, Good Size & Weight, Nice Design
Cons: no reference on the temp. controls
Yes, I recommend this product.

This was the 2nd refrigerator I purchased for a condo in Hawaii. The first one died 2 days short of 2 years and with my visa warranty I was able to get most of it refunded. This one I bought in Oct. 2011. It started leaking about a week ago. Luckily I bought the extended warranty from HD. They were unable to find a repair person on Kauai and are refunding the purchase price plus tax. I am actually relieved to see that others had the same leaking problem. I liked the way this looked and it held a lot of stuff, especially on the doors. I don't think I will be replacing it with the same model.
Pros: Easy to Clean
Cons: Not Durable, freezer leaks
No, I do not recommend this product.

Great quality. A little loud at times. Fridge door is hard to open; however, the inside is fantastic. The removable shelves and door compartments are very user-friendly. Happy with the purchase thus far.

Started out good but after only a year and a half it started leaking at bottom of freezer drawer. The coils freeze up and the drain freezes up and then it starts running in the bottom of freezer and thaws and leaks out the bottom of freezer on to the floor and you have to tear the whole bottom freezer apart to get to it to thaw everything out. Others had the same problem. It's a nightmare to do, messy and takes about 3 hours. From what I understand with others it'll keep happening. We spent too much for the refrigerator for it not to work right. I would not recommend this refrigerator.

We bought all Maytag appliances for our kitchen from Home Depot. After 15 months the freezer started leaking. Water on the floor..horrible mess! We thought we had accidentally left the freezer open, however it kept happening over and over. We completely dethawed the freezer and the leaking continued.
On a side note, our dishwasher also had problems from Day 1. Called Maytag many times also horrible customer service. Will NEVER buy Maytag again!

I needed a relatively low cost fridge, but wanted stainless steel. It was very important to me that the freezer be on the bottom. I also needed a door with the handle on the right hand side, that opened to the left--it seems like that is not standard.
This fridge met all of my criteria for a great price (I got it on sale, so less than $1,000). The only surprising thing is that the sides of the fridge are black not stainless steel, and you can see one of the sides in my kitchen. I don't mind it so much, but I wish there had been more pictures so I would have known that.
Yes, I recommend this product.

We loved this fridge when we first purchased it. Unfortunately, after about 15 months, water began dripping into the bottom part of the freezer, which eventually began leaking on the floor. My husband and I initially thought maybe be we accidentally didn't close the freezer door completely a few times. After a week, we realized we had a big problem with the freezer. I called Maytag, only to be told that since the warranty is only 12 months, we would have to pay $130 JUST to have Maytag come out and LOOK AT IT. Any labor or parts would be extra. I found this absolutely ridiculous. For a fridge thats under 2 years old?? I wrote a letter to Maytag explaining the problem in detail and requesting someone at least come out to LOOK at it free of charge. I received a phone call from Maytag a week later, basically telling me 'sorry, there's nothing we can do'. On a side note, we purchased ALL Maytag appliances from Home Depot for our new house. We also had issues with the dishwasher from Day 1. Maytag came out 3 separate times to fix it (lucky for us, it was within the 12 months). This makes me seriously question their quality. I am 100% certain that I would never purchase another Maytag appliance.
No, I do not recommend this product.

We finally remodeled our kitchen after living here 25 years, so I am happy with everything. Went from white to stainless and it's gorgeous! Love the freezer on bottom, makes it so much easier to see what is inside. I'd say the fruit & veggie bins are a little smaller than my old one, but other than that, love it. Got a good deal at Home Depot. Super fast delivery and a very nice delivery person. Also, I will say the HD employees in the store were very nice & helpful. Even though Lowes is closer to my home, I prefer to shop at Home Depot.
Yes, I recommend this product.

This was my first time purchasing a fridge from Home Depot on line, and I was very satisfied with over all experience. It's been only 2 weeks and first time owning Maytag but so far so good. I did quite a bit of research before buying so felt pretty good on decision. The fridge itself is great. I didn't like the side-by-side I had owned, but love the freezer on the bottom like this one. The capacity is great, it can store a big box of frozen pizza or casserole dish. The fridge section is super roomy although I wish vegetable bins were little bit bigger. Very quiet, efficient, and easy to clean. I love stainless steel. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought this for my parents' 45th wedding anniversary. It replaced their 26 year old frig which was still working but not great and was failing in the looks department. I shopped for a number of months on-line and when HD had their Labor Day sale and I got a little off this frig, I bought it. No problems with the delivery; the guys arrived when they said they would and were very careful removing the dinosaur frig and setting the new one up. The pair seemed to work well together and were very nice and professional; I could tell this was not their first day on the job.
My mother has only had her new frig for a little over 3 weeks now, but when I visited yesterday, she looked at me and said enthusiastically, "I love my refrigerator!" She did say she must be careful when she closes it because a few times the door didn't close and was open when she turned around. I believe I can adjust the feet to level the frig better and this should fix her problem. My mother is old and week and wears a neck brace which limits her view, so this may be part of the problem. It would be nice if this frig had the alarm some others have to notify when the door is left open, but you can't have it all for the price I paid. My mom also mentioned the door's suction is a little strong and at times is harder for her to open, but again she has very limited strength and probably just needs a little while longer to adjust to the different frig.
My mother had a frig/freezer side-by-side and says she now has SO MUCH MORE ROOM and can see everything so well. She loves the freezer on the bottom but did say she wishes they hadn't made the ice tray so big because it takes up valuable space in her freezer section; my parents don't use much ice but I had to remind my mother the frig was probably designed for a family of four and not two old people. :-) I think the frig is beautiful and so roomy and clean looking and I will probably be buying one for my house soon - when it goes on sale again. It is stainless and stainless steel does show prints... that's just the way it is.
I usually don't like reading reviews given by people who haven't had the product long because durability can't be judged. If something goes wrong with this frig, I will come back and update this review which I believe I am allowed to do. If there is no update, the frig is doing its job with no problems. Good luck to everyone looking for the right frig...
Pros: Easy to Clean, Easy to Use, Sturdy, Easy to Install, Looks Great, Stylish, Good Size & Weight, Nice Design
Yes, I recommend this product.

I guess all of you that gave 5 stars didn't have this frig for very long. We had ours over a year and then we started seeing puddles on the floor by the freezer. Found out that a lot of others had the same problem. The fix is to tear everything completely out of the freezer including the ice maker and the back panels to get to the coils and the plug in the back. It was packed with ice and the plug was full of ice as well. You have to take a hair dryer and melt the ice from the coils and poor hot water down the drain until it's clear. The manual does not say anything about this problem. If you think you're getting a frost free frig think again. It's a pain to tear it all apart, put back together, thawing everything is messy and takes a lot of time. It takes about 3 hours. Not to mention it's uncomfortable laying under there trying to do all that. This is what we did on Christmas Day. We had to research how to tear the thing apart on line from a youtube video. From reading problems from others with this, it's a continuous thing. We spent a lot of money for a frig that's not frost free. The manual is about worthless. It says nothing about this problem. We've had a few refrigerators before this one and never had any problems. We wanted an energy efficient one and thought this would be our last one we'd ever have to buy. If you don't mind doing this then go for it!!!!!!!! If you want to get a repair man every year and pay over a $100 or more then be my guest. I wouldn't recommend this frig.
Cons: doesn't defrost right, a pain to thaw it out, a pain to tear it apart, paid too much to have it not defrost right
No, I do not recommend this product.

I've had this refrigerator for a week now and so far so good. The only thing I don't like is that it is louder than the 3 year old GE side by side that came with the house.
After reading the reviews, I decided to purchase the 5 year extended warranty for $120.00 and I found out after I purchased that my friend has the same refig but has had to replace the compressor twice within 3 years.
I also like that it has wheels BIG PLUS, didn't know it until it was delivered.
The Home Depot warranty allows you to get free yearly maintenance as well, so it's worth it. Plus it covers all labor and parts.
Pros: Easy to Clean, Lots of Features, High Quality, Easy to Install, Looks Great, Stylish, Good Size & Weight, Nice Design
Cons: noiser than expected
Yes, I recommend this product.

It has all the features we were looking for without the extras we didn't really want. It's the perfect fridge for our needs. We are very happy with it. The only thing we would like to change is that the door hinge allows the door to slam back too far if you have your hands full and can't hold on to the door. I'm afraid that will mess up the hinge.
Pros: Easy to Clean, Easy to Use, Easy to Install, Stylish, Good Size & Weight, Nice Design
Cons: door hinge allows it to slam back too hard.

I wanted a fridge that was affordable, had digital temperature controls, a freezer on the bottom, and made good use of interior space. This one is it!
For some reason, there aren't a lot of choices for fridges that have a single door on top and a freezer in the bottom. I dislike french doors - they just mean less door storage space IMO. I also did not want a fridge with those silly in-door water/ice dispensers. They always break quickly and take up a ton of interior volume.
This fridge had exactly the feature set I was looking for - nothing more or less. It seems well-built for the price point, and uses little energy. It's reasonably quiet when running. A good size too - large enough for my family, but fits well in my standard sized kitchen fridge spot.
I think it's quite attractive with the simple front and stainless steel finish.
And it's ssembled in the US, which is a plus for me.
I can't speak to it's long-term durability, I've only had it for a month. Hopefully it runs well!
There was a hiccup with delivery - the unit came to me with a huge gash across the front. It looked like it got harmed in the warehouse. But I called up Home Depot and they made things right.
Pros: Lots of Features, Easy to Use, Looks Great, Good Size & Weight, Nice Design

Don't buy this refrigerator without an extended warranty. The freezer coils ice up, goes down into freezer floor and when it melts it puddles out onto the floor and then you have to tear it apart which isn't easy and it's a pain. We only had this frig for 1 1/2 years. I understand from reading on the internet that it'll do it again. Had to go on you tube to find out how to tear it apart. No instructions in manual and the manual is about worthless. Takes about 3 hours to tear apart and thaw out the coils and plug. Should not have to do this. We had an Amana for 15 years and never had to do anything to it. Very disappointed in the Maytag refrigerator. Wouldn't recommend.

I got my new fridge about three weeks ago (November 2012), right before Black Friday. After reading some of the feedback from other buyers I felt good about my purchase. In the past, I have had issues with Whirlpool appliances which of course is the same manufacturing company as Maytag. I can say that this refrigerator is 10xs roomier than my old Whirlpool side-by-side. I purchased it in stainless steel. Not alot issues with fingerprints since I live alone. I love the adjustable shelves and there is plenty of storage. I can open the door and know where everything is. Overall I am happy with my purchase and I hope a year or two from now I wont be disappointed.
Pros: Looks Great, Stylish, Nice Design

We just got this fridge and so far, it's working out well. Pluses: it's pretty quiet, it works well, and it's configurable so you can decide where the shelves go, etc. Minuses: the freezer space is smaller than that of our previous (side-by-side) fridge. Also, not having the external water/ice dispenser anymore means that you have to open the freezer and pull out the top drawer just to get ice. However, these are small drawbacks compared to the overall quality of the fridge.
Yes, I recommend this product.
