Milwaukee Drill and Hackzall

I own most all the tools sold in the "yellow" brand. I decided to try Milwaukee and the tools are great. The drill is light weight yet has more power than my others. The built in light is great and the battery life is good. The chuck works very well and holds bits nicely. The Hackzall is a nice size with plenty of power, yet much easier to get in tight spots than a sawzall. I have not found anything that I don't like about either of these tools. I never thought I would leave the "yellow brand" but I have had trouble with the chucks on both of my "other" drills. Looks like I am now a Milwaukee fan.

I chose this kit to replace my Ridgid 18V that the batteries fried on (Ridgid refused to honor lifetime agreement). I decided to forge on into another manufacturer's tools rather than pay $99 per battery.
It was down to the Makita kits and this kit. Ultimately, I chose this kit due to the more sturdy feel when I held it. I prefer a tool to not feel like a child's toy. I'm no pro....but I do a LOT of work around the house with small building projects, and occasionally do some for the company I work for.
I feel I made the right choice. Each tool in this kit feels incredibly well made. Yes, they are on the heavy size, but they have full metal drive as well as full-sized 18V batteries.
The drill is by far the nicest one I've ever owned. The handle is comfortable. The forward and reverse buttons are conveniently placed. There is a selector for drill, screw, and hammerdrill on the collar. I'd never seen 3 settings (most are just drill and hammerdrill). The chuck is all metal (I hate plastic on the chuck). There's a light under the chuck that illuminates in front of the drill when the trigger is depressed. This thing is incredibly powerful. It drills through concrete like butter. My only gripe is that the speed selector switch protrudes a little from the top, and it's possible to be pushed if you're in tight settings.
The hackzall is a really great tool. I've used Sawzalls before, and always disliked how there isn't much of a way to work them without using both hands. This one has a handle like a drill, and the battery goes below your forearm. Great idea, as it balances the tool, allowing for easy one-handed operation. When you're 20 feet up a ladder pruning your palm tree, that comes in handy (it did a great job of ripping through the fronds on my trees).
Batteries have a button that you can push to see how much life is remaining on them. Life is very good. I pruned all my trees this afternoon and still had half charge on it. The drill barely dented the charge of the battery I used for hammerdrilling.
5 year warranty is better than Makita (2) or Dewalt (3) puts forth as well.
Overall, this is a great kit, and I look forward to getting more tools from Milwaukee to expand my set.

I use these tools on a daily basis as an electrician. Milwaukee is my first and only choise. I always recommend Milwaukee to my counter parts. I have been using Milwaukee for 27 years.
