I owned an Echo PAS for 8 years on a 1 acre property.. Always easy to start, heavy duty and does what you expect. Sold that house and my Echo equipment. New house has a smaller yard so I tried several brands of less expensive equipment. Had to take all of them back for various reasons and invested in Echo again. No need to make the same mistake I did. Echo makes quality equipment that lasts for years.

Bought it today, cranked first pull after the "full choke" pull. Bought both the string trimmer attatchment, and the edger. Both exceeded my expectations! Plenty of power for what i needed, and rarely went to full throttle. Despite reviews iv seen about the edger, I was able to effectively edge my entire property, which hasnt been done in a while. I was smart enough to take it easy and work my way through it, and next time will be a breeze. In regards to the person with the carb problem.... ethanol and long periods of sitting up are far worse on 2 cycles than consistent use. Use a high grade gas, keep it fresh, use a good fuel treatment, and prior to storing for a while, dump the fuel and run the carb dry.. prob will have MUCH less problems..

Don't let the $180 price tag fool you. This is a high quality machine! I purchased it on February 16 in preparation for the 2013 season. This machine fired up after 1 pull with choke and 1 pull without.
I purchased the speed head trimmer and edger attachments. I expected the edger to bog out, wrong answer! It had no problem doing my entire property with ease.
The speed feed trimmer was amazing as well. I never thought a 21.2 cc motor could be so powerful. Great job Echo!

I used to use the PAS265T when I was landscaping and it was very powerful. This trimmer is very good for the price. The power is there for the evgine it has and it will start evertime. It is important to know how to refill the trimmer line properly otherwise you can make it jam and it won't auto feed. THIS IS NOT THE TRIMMERS FAULT. Learn how to reload the trimming line and how to prime and start the trimmer and all will be well. Its as reliable and cost affective as the $350.00 model I used to use. Happy trimming people.

Was a little concerned when I read some of the other reviewers comments about starting this trimmer. I have always loved all my echo equipment because they are so easy to start, and this unit did not disappoint. Straight out of the box, gassed it up and three pulls later I was trimming all the ornamental trees around my house. I have been trimming them with my regular echo hedge trimmers, but the trees are getting a little taller now and I'm getting a little shakier on that top rung of the ladder, these just gave that extra long reach I needed to get the job done, plenty of power for what I am doing, and the weight is fare for the quality your getting.

So far it has started every time. I haven't had any problems with it even starts in cold weather after sitting several months without use. I do run the gas out of it to store. It seems to have enough power. I've been useing it on a place that hasn't been taken care of in 4 years.... very grown up. It does the job. I bought the straight shaft with a bumper head. Now I'm going to get the brush cutter....

I bought mine two summers ago and I am already replacing the carburetor. It was not cheap to have done. For someone who only cuts his own lawn this was not a happy surprise. If you can get an extended warranty I would do it just in case. The repairman said that the carburetor does go bad on these.

Enjoy working on the yard with this tool. It's powerful enough to get the job done. I'll admit it doesn't start like a honda lawn mower but it's manageable. It is a loud machine so I would recommend ear plugs.

I am a pro landscaper and have the pas 225 and the pas 230. the 225 is great but its a little under powerd and its worth the extra mony to get the 230. there very durible and i havr the edger atachment hedge trimmer attachment and the trimmer attachment. vey durible would recoment it.

I purchased this item after much research and it is my first Echo. The choice was a good one. I also purchased the trimmer and edger attachments. The weight and maneuverability are great. It provides a great finish to the lawn and I can use it for long lengths of time on fence lines without fatigue. The power is unbelievable. With a brush blade it handles 1" saplings with ease and powers the edger without slowing down. Great product!

I would recommend this product because it is powerful and will definitely get the job done. The trimmer and edger attachment works good and is easy to change. It was hard to start wit the cold start but what i did was switch it straight to warm start mode after cold start would not work right and it fire straight up and running like a champ. The trimmer straight shaft attachment is what i have and it comes wit the speed loader. It is not that bad once you learn how the speed loader works.

This unit starts on the first pull which is a big plus. The unit is a little on the heavy side for someone my size, but not too bad. I would definitely recommend it.

I went from owning a John Deere S1400 which I purchased from Home Depot in 2000. After 8+ years of hard labor this John Deere was laid to rest and I purchased a Husqvarna 2 piece unit and was disappointed in the amount of power compared to the John Deere. My next step was to spend a little more and purchased the Echo which I promptly returned. My litmus test is using the edger attachment and see if it can cut in an overgrown sidewalk at more than a snails pace. This unit could not. I have a lot of sidewalk to edge and need a tool that can do the job at a walking pace. I ended up going with a commercial product for my needs.

I wish it had a little more power. I used the 230 and it was a beast. The 225 was sufficient, but difficult to go down in power once you've experienced more.

I bought this trimmer so I could get the edger attachment for it. At first I was worried that it would be underpowered for edging and trimming thick grass. But I bought it any way and took it home. Once I got home and assembled it, I had to try it. The first thing I noticed was how easy it was to start. And the second was how much power it had. I went into the woods and starting cutting down 1/2 inch pine trees!! I haven't gotten the edger attachment yet, but It will definitely have enough power for it.

This unit is definately more robust than other makes that I considered, and the interchangable attachments were also very sturdy. Plenty of power to trim my yard (about a 1/4 acre). I have use the edging attachment and found the power source has plenty of power for that as well.
