This, very easy to install, egress slider replacement kit is for steel buck window well 31in. x 36-1/2 in. x 3-1/4 in. tall. The window is specifically made to replace the inefficient single glazed aluminum windows that are provided with the steel bucks in most new homes. Unit does not include steel buck.

Nice window. But it should not be advertised as an egress window since the whole window must be removed in order for a person to be able to climb through the opening. This window does not conform to Glen Ellyn code which requires a 20" x 24" opening when the window is opened without having to remove the unit. I have several of these and they work well but I had to replace one with a true egress window to pass inspection.

The lack of instructions and poor insulation along the edges of the window make this replacement window challenging to install. The chains that are included with the are too short as well! Once installed the window slides easily and works well .

I ordered three windows and all three were different dimensions. One window was too big and would not fit. The one that didn't fit measured larger than the 36.375 x 30.75 mentioned in the specifications. If you have an opening measuring 36.50 x 31 these windows may not fit. Two of the windows i put in did fit but just barely.

Delivery was excellent (ordered on Saturday, arrived on Monday). The pull chain did not fit on the levers (had to alter the link of the chain to get it to fit), foam tape was only on the top and bottom of the window frame, it should have been on the sides as well (ended up moving the foam tape from the top to the side). Otherwise I was very pleased with this product and would recommend it to others.

My home was built in 1973 and this window fit with only minor sanding adjustments to one edge and a bit of extra weather stripping on the sides.
