This product is Great! I only had to provide my own tools to remove the old toilet and to connect the water supply. The lower water usage has saved considerably on my water bill. Total installation was complete in about an hour, including run back to the store to get a longer water supply line. This tank sits higher and farther away than my old toilet. This toilet package cost me less than the identical toilet I installed last January, and supplied the wax ring and new mounting bolts +! +!. I spent more time cleaning than actually installing the toilet.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Bought two of these to replace the original 80's models that came with our house.
After install, the toilets would barely flush unless I held down the lever. After scouring the web for an answer, it turns out there is an adjustment on the bottom of the flapper. I turned mine up to 9 (from 3) and now have a VERY powerful flush. I'm disappointed that American Standard didn't put this in the instructions.
Also be sure to follow the instructions to adjust the water level for optimal performance. One of mine was too low and one was too high.

I just replaced an original toilet in my 20+ year old townhouse with the American Standard Cadet 3 and I'm completely satisified with it. Installation was a breeze & the toilet is an ECO friendly product. My old toilet clogged constantly. I've had this one installed for just over 1 week now and it hasn't clogged once (even with a 3 year old in the house). Although this product comes with everything you need, if the a plastic toilet seat isn't your cup of tea, you might want to consider picking up something a little more durable before you leave the store. I'm using the seat that came with the toilet and I'm pleased with it, but be forewarned that it is plastic. Overall this was a great purchase!
Yes, I recommend this product.

My son who is a plumber prefers another brand of toilet that HD doesn't sell, and he told
me that if I had to get one from HD, to get one that was almost twice the price. According to him this brand would have better flushing power. Beain that I am a blind person, I couldn't see all of the toilets out there. HD was kind enough to let
me climb up on the ladder and look/feel all of the toilets on display. I was able to look
at all but the Glacier Bay Series. They were placed up near the ceiling, and not easily
reachable from the floor.

Yes, by looking/feeling the more expensive toilets, I could tell what my son was talking
about. After reading the reviews I was sure I could find something less expensive, and that
would do the job adequately. ... and indeed so I did. Enter Stage Right, the American
Standard Cadet Three FlowWise Series of Toilets. This particular one is white and and has the
round bowl shape.

This was my first installation of a toilet myself. in deciding which toilet to buy, I
basically looked at this one and a similarly priced competitor. The
fact that this toilet needs no tools, or almost no tools was enticing to me.

putting this toilet together was a real breeze. I didn't use the wax ring that came with it.
It was suggested by a friend, who also helps me do the apartment
maintenance around here, to use the cheaper wax ring without the flange around it, so solids
would not be hampered to go down the seuer line. The hole on the bottom of the toilet is
actually even with the bottom sides of the toilet. So you might be able to
get away with the cheaper wax ring. Save the one that comes with the toilet for a different
project. In my case, the flange and the floor were even with each other. Reviews of the
taller version of the Cadet Three FlowWise Series seem to indicate that you will in some
cases need the extra thick wax ring.

After repairing one of the flanges where the bolt goes, the actual project took no more than
30 minutes or so from start to finish.

I did happen to look at the hole where the rubber gasket fits between the bowl and tank. The
hole was smooth. My only gripe in its construction is that
I wish a second washer and bolt would have been included that would go between the bowl and
tank to further guard against any possible future leaks. That's just the overkill in me. If
this makes you feel better, you can if so desired get the fluid Master kit and add
those washers and nuts yourself. Won't hurt,
but it's really not necessary.

A couple of tips are in order.: If you find that your toilet is spitting at you when you
flush it, you can remove the little regulator that is inline inside
the flushing unit. This requires a flathead medium blade screwdriver. Just push up inside the
flushing unit, until the tip is against the top of the unit.
then make sure the flat blade is against the side of the unit. You can then pull straight
down and bring out the little rubber piece. It kinda looks like a corkscrew. This will
result in roughly about from 1.28 GPF to about 1.3 GPF of water usage. It will also make the
sound of the toilet much louder and almost objectionable. your toilet will however
fill up faster, like half the time. If you are in an area where the water pressure is low,
then by removing this regulator this could be a good thing.

Yes, I too had to adjust the water level so it wouldn't overflow the pipe where the fill hose
is. i set it to just roughly an eighth of an inch below the top of the pipe.

As an earlier review had mentioned, you can adjust the flapper so that you don't have to hold
down the handle for a more powerful flush. I adjusted the setting from three to 10. Nine and
ten completely close off the little opening of the flapper, thus helping the flapper to stay
up in the air til the flush is done. Do this little adjustment before you turn on the water
to fill up the toilet for the first time.
i would suggest you talk to American Standard's tech
support and ask them how to do this adjustment on the flapper.

it is important to make sure you contact American Standard and talk to the nice lady who
handles the warranty. She was courteous, and helpful in answering
all of my technical questions. You have a limited lifetime on the China, or at least five
yeares, as long as the breakage isn't your fault, and you haven't
moved the toilet from where you installed it. You also have Five years on the parts, and one
year on the seat. not bad at all!

People say the toilet seat is flimsy. I disagree. If you use a flathead screwdriver and
after positioning the toilet seat where you want it, then tighten down those bolts. The seat
is then very firm from side to side. Sure, it would be nice to have a better seat, but this
one is comfortable enough for now. That why I say this toilet needs no tools, or almost no
tools to put it together.

To attest how well this toilet won't clog, we recently had some relatives staying with us. My
wife told me that it looked like there was at least a half a roll of Charmin in the toilet.
She flushed it, and at first the toilet water went up to the rim, and then the water
disapated down the hole along with all that toilet paper. Wait til I tell my son about that
one. And that was before I read the review about the adjustable flapper, and made the
adjustment.

This toilet sits a bit lower to the ground than I am used to. It is 15 inches from the floor
to the base where the seat lays. If that is a problem for you, then get the Cadet Three
FlowWise, version that is 16.5 inches high. That version comes with the ADA stamp of Approval on it.
Looking around the net, this Cadet series was mentioned as a Best buy. I can't speak for
other brands, but all I know this one is a keeper. You will not go wrong if you get this
particular series of American Standard toilets. One of the Sales persons
at HD told me he had not to long ago purchase the taller version of this toilet, and was
surprised at how well this worked for him. Sure, you can spend a lot more money on a toilet,
... but why bother. Get the American Standard Cadet three FlowWise toilet, or the
taller version of this toilet.
and you won't be sorry for your purchase at all.
Yes, I recommend this product.

We figured it was time to replace one of the toilets that was installed in our house when it was new in '88. The cast iron was showing through at the bottom and we were having constant blockages and hoped a better toilet would alleviate these problems.
This toilet was easy to install, and it only took my wife and I a short time to install it. We actually took more time removing the old toilet and cleaning the floor flange than actually installing the new toilet.
We have had it for over a year now and I can safely say we can throw away the plunger for that bathroom since we haven't needed it since we installed this toilet.
We plan to install another one in our second bath very soon since it performs great, looks great, and has a great price.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought this American Standard model after a whole day of stress trying to install the $98 Glacier Bay model. American standard made it INCREDIBLY EASY TO INSTALL!!!!!! No joke, i was about to throw the glacier bay ones on the ground. Opening the box i was so pleased to find detailed, clear, and simple instructions and nice pictures. I didn't even need ANY TOOLS, just my hands!!!!! It felt as easy as 1, 2, 3! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MODEL. I think it took 30 min to install and it was actually fun! DO NOT BUY ANY OTHER BRAND! BUY AMERICAN STANDARD.

After reading reviews stating the common problem of leakage between the tank and bowl, I was hesitant on getting the Cadet 3. The HD rep talked me into giving it a try. While holding down the bolts on the inside of the tank, my wife wanted me to tighten up one side snug before getting the other side started. This may be where some people are making a mistake. You have to tighten them evenly to get a good seal. After installation, we were high very happy that there was no leaks, (I expected a flood) and also at the quick and powerful flush of this inexpensive toilet. Like other readers, my previous toilet needed to be plunged every two weeks. The water would actually rise before flushing. The Cadet is very impressive on how fast it flushes and because of the efficient tank, fills very quickly.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I will replace my other toilet with a Cadet 3 in the near future. It handles waste disposal very easily and effectively. It has a great finish and I use just a mild antibacterial dish soap and soft brush to clean it. And at 1.28 gallons per flush, very economical( if you need, you can hold the handle down for some extra water). I'm 64 years of age and I removed and replaced the old toilet in less than an hour. No tools needed except for a putty knife to clean the old wax ring remnants from the floor flange.

We purchased the toilet for its ease and we bought a bathtub of the same brand and it is more likely to be the same white.
Installation was a breeze, I recommend having the flange 1/4" above floor level. Also, BYO supply line.
The result after a month or two is perfect flushes, no issues. If you are replacing an older water guzzler, the small tank will be a little bit of a surprise, but this is a great buy, simple installation and thus far for us, a great performer.

Had trouble with a leak between tank and bowl. Frustrating to say the least. After quite a bit of troubleshooting, I found that the left bolt was leaking even though the water was coming out of right-back area of the toilet. I replaced the original bolts with a Fluidmaster kit from Home Depot and it worked! The key is to follow the instructions from the kit: Bolt>Rubber Ring>Tank>Metal Washer>Nut>Bowl>Metal Washer>Nut. Hope this review helps someone.

I've had this toilet for a little over a year with no issues. Nice price, no clogs, was very easy to install. However, when we bought this one, the toilet seat was missing. We went back to the store and they gave us a different seat that is nice but rather flimsy. According to an earlier reviewer, this is consistent with the one that comes with the box. Not really a problem if you don't use your toilet as a chair.

I installed this in a small powder room to replace a year-old Cadet 3 that cracked due to a being hit with a hammer. The no-tools install is nice and makes it nearly impossible to overtighten the mounting bolts. The supplied wax ring seemed to be of high quality and worked well. I did not have any issues with fit, leaks, or sizing. The previous Cadet 3 was also fine right up until I broke it.
I replaced the supplied gentle-close plastic seat with a $6 wooden seat. I don't care for the plastic ones. It did seem like a decent seat, though.

I had several leaks with the Cadet 4, so after returning it, decided to try the American Standard Cadet 3. Easy install, nice and compact, and love the small amount of water it uses and "slow closing" lid. I purchased 3 to replace old 27 year old toilets. So far, so good.

My husband and I are in the middle of putting the toilet in now. I recommend if doing it together, having a LARGE bathroom! Understand that the base is fairly heavy, so when your husband tells you to do something, you have limited time. In our case, our tub is only a couple inches away from the toilet, so I couldn't get to that side to make sure screws were lined up. So, make sure you both are in a VERY good mood before starting. A few little kisses and boosts of confidence for your man, such as "Your my muscle man", will go a long way during this process. As for the toilet, we are not done yet, so I'll let you know... No leaks yet! Very easy , even in tight spaces.

Perfect size for small 1/2 bath. Good design and easy installation. Flush performance seems to be very good. After a few days, noticed a leak from bottom of tank. Discovered that the Flush Valve gasket was leaking. Removed flush valve and discovered that the flush valve gasket was crushed on one side. The hole in the tank seems to be too large in diameter and not round. Flipped the flush valve gasket over and centered the flush valve in the tank hole. Leak seems to have been stopped for now. I probably would have exchanged the unit for a new one, but I had already tossed the packaging. Mfg specs and quality control could be a lot better.
