Got this on sale at HD, wasn't really excited by the small tank size but overall it performs very well. installation is easy but I did have to replace the washers on the tank bolts as they both leaked after installation. i tried snugging them up a little at a time over a couple of of days but they still leaked. overall good product.

The toilet gasket was reseated twice but continued to leak around the ill-fitting ring where the tank connects to the stool. This was a brand new toilet. The problem seems to be solved as plumbers putty was placed around the large rubber ring.

Easiest installation I ever did. The plastic handles/nut wrenches provided to istall the nuts was really handy. I did have to retighten on of the tank nuts a few days later, I didn't get it tight enough the first time or it settled a little.
Really flushes fast.

After reading reviews stating the common problem of leakage between the tank and bowl, I was hesitant on getting the Cadet 3. The HD rep talked me into giving it a try. While holding down the bolts on the inside of the tank, my wife wanted me to tighten up one side snug before getting the other side started. This may be where some people are making a mistake. You have to tighten them evenly to get a good seal. After installation, we were high very happy that there was no leaks, (I expected a flood) and also at the quick and powerful flush of this inexpensive toilet. Like other readers, my previous toilet needed to be plunged every two weeks. The water would actually rise before flushing. The Cadet is very impressive on how fast it flushes and because of the efficient tank, fills very quickly.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought this one because it has good reviews, but after I installed the toilet and try to flush it, water was leaking from the edge of the front round. I took it out and checked where the leak from, it was front the front bowl, manufacturer did not do good job to seal it, I might consider to return it and buy another brand.
Otherwise, the installation was easy and the flush power was good.

Three years ago for a new bath we got an American Standard Cadet 3 complete kit which the plumber installed. It has performed well and without problems. Our other toilet needed replacement so based on our experience with this product we got another and which I installed myself. Installation was easy and the new toilet works well, no leaks or other problems.
Tips: You may need to get a toilet supply line (the wire mesh ones a really easy to deal with). Also, the complete toilet weighs about 100 lbs so you may need help moving it.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Installed one in kid's bath and discovered that the fill valve had a small leak. I told the CSR at American standard the issue and they ended up sending me a flush valve, Called again and got fill valve 2 weeks later.
Other toilet installed in master bath had a poor tank to bowl fit like others have stated. I tried replacing spud gasket, tank bolts as well as restting the tank several times. No luck, still leaked. American Standard wouldn't stand behind their product this time, and insisted it must be installed wrong. Product clearly had poor fit. I will exchange this for a different manufacturer.
No, I do not recommend this product.

My son who is a plumber prefers another brand of toilet that HD doesn't sell, and he told
me that if I had to get one from HD, to get one that was almost twice the price. According to him this brand would have better flushing power. Beain that I am a blind person, I couldn't see all of the toilets out there. HD was kind enough to let
me climb up on the ladder and look/feel all of the toilets on display. I was able to look
at all but the Glacier Bay Series. They were placed up near the ceiling, and not easily
reachable from the floor.

Yes, by looking/feeling the more expensive toilets, I could tell what my son was talking
about. After reading the reviews I was sure I could find something less expensive, and that
would do the job adequately. ... and indeed so I did. Enter Stage Right, the American
Standard Cadet Three FlowWise Series of Toilets. This particular one is white and and has the
round bowl shape.

This was my first installation of a toilet myself. in deciding which toilet to buy, I
basically looked at this one and a similarly priced competitor. The
fact that this toilet needs no tools, or almost no tools was enticing to me.

putting this toilet together was a real breeze. I didn't use the wax ring that came with it.
It was suggested by a friend, who also helps me do the apartment
maintenance around here, to use the cheaper wax ring without the flange around it, so solids
would not be hampered to go down the seuer line. The hole on the bottom of the toilet is
actually even with the bottom sides of the toilet. So you might be able to
get away with the cheaper wax ring. Save the one that comes with the toilet for a different
project. In my case, the flange and the floor were even with each other. Reviews of the
taller version of the Cadet Three FlowWise Series seem to indicate that you will in some
cases need the extra thick wax ring.

After repairing one of the flanges where the bolt goes, the actual project took no more than
30 minutes or so from start to finish.

I did happen to look at the hole where the rubber gasket fits between the bowl and tank. The
hole was smooth. My only gripe in its construction is that
I wish a second washer and bolt would have been included that would go between the bowl and
tank to further guard against any possible future leaks. That's just the overkill in me. If
this makes you feel better, you can if so desired get the fluid Master kit and add
those washers and nuts yourself. Won't hurt,
but it's really not necessary.

A couple of tips are in order.: If you find that your toilet is spitting at you when you
flush it, you can remove the little regulator that is inline inside
the flushing unit. This requires a flathead medium blade screwdriver. Just push up inside the
flushing unit, until the tip is against the top of the unit.
then make sure the flat blade is against the side of the unit. You can then pull straight
down and bring out the little rubber piece. It kinda looks like a corkscrew. This will
result in roughly about from 1.28 GPF to about 1.3 GPF of water usage. It will also make the
sound of the toilet much louder and almost objectionable. your toilet will however
fill up faster, like half the time. If you are in an area where the water pressure is low,
then by removing this regulator this could be a good thing.

Yes, I too had to adjust the water level so it wouldn't overflow the pipe where the fill hose
is. i set it to just roughly an eighth of an inch below the top of the pipe.

As an earlier review had mentioned, you can adjust the flapper so that you don't have to hold
down the handle for a more powerful flush. I adjusted the setting from three to 10. Nine and
ten completely close off the little opening of the flapper, thus helping the flapper to stay
up in the air til the flush is done. Do this little adjustment before you turn on the water
to fill up the toilet for the first time.
i would suggest you talk to American Standard's tech
support and ask them how to do this adjustment on the flapper.

it is important to make sure you contact American Standard and talk to the nice lady who
handles the warranty. She was courteous, and helpful in answering
all of my technical questions. You have a limited lifetime on the China, or at least five
yeares, as long as the breakage isn't your fault, and you haven't
moved the toilet from where you installed it. You also have Five years on the parts, and one
year on the seat. not bad at all!

People say the toilet seat is flimsy. I disagree. If you use a flathead screwdriver and
after positioning the toilet seat where you want it, then tighten down those bolts. The seat
is then very firm from side to side. Sure, it would be nice to have a better seat, but this
one is comfortable enough for now. That why I say this toilet needs no tools, or almost no
tools to put it together.

To attest how well this toilet won't clog, we recently had some relatives staying with us. My
wife told me that it looked like there was at least a half a roll of Charmin in the toilet.
She flushed it, and at first the toilet water went up to the rim, and then the water
disapated down the hole along with all that toilet paper. Wait til I tell my son about that
one. And that was before I read the review about the adjustable flapper, and made the
adjustment.

This toilet sits a bit lower to the ground than I am used to. It is 15 inches from the floor
to the base where the seat lays. If that is a problem for you, then get the Cadet Three
FlowWise, version that is 16.5 inches high. That version comes with the ADA stamp of Approval on it.
Looking around the net, this Cadet series was mentioned as a Best buy. I can't speak for
other brands, but all I know this one is a keeper. You will not go wrong if you get this
particular series of American Standard toilets. One of the Sales persons
at HD told me he had not to long ago purchase the taller version of this toilet, and was
surprised at how well this worked for him. Sure, you can spend a lot more money on a toilet,
... but why bother. Get the American Standard Cadet three FlowWise toilet, or the
taller version of this toilet.
and you won't be sorry for your purchase at all.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought 2 of these and they installed very easily. Both leaked between tank and bowl. I don't know if it was from the tank bolts or the flush valve. I found three other reviews on the first page that had the same problem. I won't risk water damage from an undependable toilet. They're going back.

Pros:
- This is 1 of only a few that will fit the 30 inch height limit if your toilet has a shelf blocking.
- Comes with a Soft close lid. Lids if bought separate cost about $20.
- Has not clogged in over 1 month usage. Replaced 1 that clogged about once every 2 weeks.
- Uses 1.28 gallons per flush. Nice.
- Uses the new float method. Easy to maintain and less likely to break. (no chains).
- Con
The lid is medium plastic. It's ok and I can still sit on it, but it's not as sturdy as my previous 1 made of solid wood. But since it's slow close, I think it has to be light.

These toilets flush really nice. I replaced one toilet with this one and loved it so much I went and bought another the next day. It's quiet and it flushes everything I've thrown at it. No clogs in 4 days was unheard of until now. I could probably throw the plunger away.
The only cons are that it sits off the wall a bit more than the old toilets. The "Rough In" dimensions on their spec sheets are totally off. They say 1" from the wall to the tank when it's more like 2". For the price though these can not be beat. Especially when the EPA Rebate pays for more than half the cost of the toilet. Two toilets for less than the price of one is a great deal!

This toilet works very well. I bought it to replace a 25 yr. old toilet. I was reluctant to get a "low-flo" toilet thinking that they likely will not flush well. Was I ever wrong! This is our first and I couldn't be happier. It flushes much better than the old one while using significantly less water - a win-win!. Seems that you can either do a "half flush" or a "full flush" depending how long you hold the handle down. Easy to install.

I installed this in a small powder room to replace a year-old Cadet 3 that cracked due to a being hit with a hammer. The no-tools install is nice and makes it nearly impossible to overtighten the mounting bolts. The supplied wax ring seemed to be of high quality and worked well. I did not have any issues with fit, leaks, or sizing. The previous Cadet 3 was also fine right up until I broke it.
I replaced the supplied gentle-close plastic seat with a $6 wooden seat. I don't care for the plastic ones. It did seem like a decent seat, though.
Yes, I recommend this product.
