Im in IT and use an Air Compressor daily to clean dust out of computers, Ive been through 3 or four different brands that have burned up on me (all air cooled). I looked at many reviews and found the MAC2400. Packing was good it arrived safely. So far it has the best quality guages I have seen, its Oil lubricated so I feel as long as I keep the oil level up and clean this unit appears it will last. One minor complaint the air filter could fit better as some have stated. But it's a very small issue and does not hinder the funtionality in any way, the other is the weight, it is a heavy compressor for its size, for a small compact compressor its a beast to carry around. I am 100% happy with the compressor and with my purchase from Home Depot.
Yes, I recommend this product.

This compressor is heavy and relatively well built. I enjoy how quiet it is. What would I change? Well, I moved the air filter inside the cage so it didn't get knocked off while moving it. Then I mounted the unit on a dolly with an FRL air conditioner so my air tools get quality air. Overall, I am very satisfied with this compressor.

The compressor itself is an excellent machine. Plenty of pressure and fills fast. INCREDIBLY QUIET. That i read about before purchasing, but still impressed me. You can run it in a house without disturbing others around you. I have heard louder garbage disposals, seriously. Follow the break in instructions before closing the drain valve and it does help. Only issue i have is that i have a small leak with the oil reservoir...very small leak. I just needed to make sure the screws were tightened. Not sure if shipping or manufacturing.
Shipping/Packaging: This part is the only negative i have about this. The compressor is packaged great and secure...except for one part. The bag with the air filter, oil, and instructions in it. It is just laying on the top of the compressor right beneath the top of the box. While my box appeared undamaged when I received it, the screw connection on the underside of the air filter still causing damage when bouncing in transit. It is about 1/2" pipe protruding from the underside of air filter. It caused the face plate of the compressor (housing the gauges) to become dented. nothing was creased and I got lucky the gauges were not broken, so i could actually repair the dent myself and still retain the new look to it. The 2 gauges have a slightly lifted up gauge inside the unit and the needles catch on it near the top of the gauge. So i will need to actually repair/replace them, but they do work. All of this could be avoided with a simple piece of cardboard or holder for the air filter in the packaging. Very stupid oversight on Makita for this.
Overall: A+ for product itself. D for packaging. I still would highly recommend the compressor though.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Believe me when I say I have been through a lot of compressors. I am impressed by this Makita. Even thou I expected a good product, without seeing one in person first, I'm glad I went with this one. Well made, great regulator, perfect stance, since it stays upright while driving. Solid motor, yet wont trip breakers.

It has a lot of power. I like a compressor that needs oil added, because it will make it keeps the machine cooled better and will last longer without breaking down. Changing the oil is easy, just unscrew the plug and drain it, just like a car, so easy a caveman could do it. I looked at every compressor out there, and this is the best of the best.

Really did not get a chance to use this product, since my first one was damged and the second leaked oil.
The first one was damaged due to poor packaging. The bag with the air cleaner hit one of the gadges so hard the front of the gadge was broken. The second one I believe was used. I ran the compressor for half an our, but had to shut the thng down becase the crankcse leaked oil everywhere.
I gave up and returned the compressor to Homedepot because the bottom of the box was so saturated with oil UPS would not be able to pick it up. Homedepot was very understanding, since I was in the store I bought one in the store.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I had a pancake compressor that was loud , slow , and vibrated a lot ( it would actually walk right acrosss the cement )
This compressor has none of those problems. Its quieter, faster , vibrates less, and seems to have a faster recovery time . Will work well for what I want.

Best investment i ever made. ... Like my buddies, I had the chance to buy cheaper models of "pancakes". But noticed their pancakes were breaking down way to much. So i opted for the better quality and it paid off. The outlets i plug into are often outdated and will easily blow fuses/trip breakers. Never had that problem with this. Only downside i have is the weight. 80 pounds. But quiet ... worth it!

The Makita MAC2400 is the second air compressor I have owned in the last ten years. The first one was a Craftsman maintenance free / oil free compressor of which I bought without conducting any research. Although the compressor did what I needed it to do, it was very LOUD! Also, there were just some minor issues I had with it over time which would keep me from purchasing another.
However, this time I decided to perform some significant research before my next air compressor purchase. Out of all the air compressors out there, I had narrowed my search down to the Makita MAC2400. The reviews I received, both online and in person were outstanding for the Makita MAC2400. It seemed as though it would fit my needs the best. Keep in mind, an air compressor is nothing more than a tool. What may be great for me, may not be so great for you. It all depends on what type of projects you intend to use it for. If you intend to run a die grinder or some other tool which would require a great deal of air, this may not be a good choice. The most important factor to consider when buying an air compressor is the PSI and CFM ratings, not necessarily the tank size.
After using the Makita MAC2400 almost daily for the last couple of weeks, I cannot say enough good things about this compressor! It is an EXCELLENT compressor and has performed everything I have needed it to do without the least bit of trouble. Also, this compressor is VERY QUIET compared to the maintenance free models out there, including my old Craftsman. I would have no problem firing the Makita up in my garage at 3AM if I needed to. It is seriously that quiet. I would not disturb any of my neighbors. In fact, this compressor is even quieter than some of the more expensive two-stage compressors I have seen & heard. I would DEFINATELY recommend the Makita MAC2400 to anyone who is looking for a very dependable, well built, quiet and reliable air compressor.
This compressor is great for airing up tires, balls, rafts, running 1/2 inch impact drivers to bust loose lug nuts to rotate or change tires, running air ratchet drivers, cleaning areas with an air gun, operating two (2) 90 P.S.I. nail guns at the same time...of which I did for two days straight...no problems whatsoever! For the money, this is truly an excellent machine and I don't think you could ever possibly go wrong with the Makita MAC2400.
Good luck and I hope this review was helpful to you!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Honestly, this is the first air compressor I have owned, so I can't say that I know how the Makita performs compared to a 'typical' compressor. But I did use it with a framing nailer, and the Makita performed quite well. It is a heavy unit, but hey it is a heavy-duty piece of machinery, so I don't think you can complain. I did not have difficulty moving it, and since I am using it at home I decided to permanently locate the compressor on the back porch and buy a 100' air hose that is long enough to reach everywhere in the house- seems to be working just fine.

I need dependability in my work therefore many of my tools are Makita
I have not used this compressor much yet but it is a very nice compressor. It turns at half the speed that the competition does and it is a Makita so I am sure it will give me good service. I research before I buy and this compressor is the best in class.

I own several compressors but nothing like the Makita compressor. I have a 10-men crew for doing primarily roofing and sheathing and every guy is asking for the Makita compressor. The compressor is very quite, has plenty of power and provides ample air for the job requirements. I tried to buy this compressor at the store but I was told that its only available on line. The home depot service was prompt and delivery was smooth. I am looking forward to buy additional Makita compressors so my guys don't have to fight for it every morning.

I did research prior to purchasing and decided that this compressor was a quality product that would suit my needs. I am a fan of Makita products as well. Upon receiving the first one, the pressure gauges were both broken and cracked. I returned the compressor and reordered, I realize issues due occur. The second one looked fine out of the box, I did the break in as specified. I noticed a puddle of oil under the compressor. It was another defective compressor.
The only highlight was my local Home Depot. They took both units back and completely refunded my money without hassle.

This is a heavy compressor so keep it close to where you are working. It is semi-quiet compared to its size and other brands. Sadly, when I bought it, it did not come with oil and the top plate was bent, but it works fine despite the damage. The airbreather took a little work to attach as you have to cut the plastic shroud to get it on to fit. Other than that, I am happy [so far].
