This machine makes very strange noises during it's cycles, but is able to handle large or small loads very well. It spins the water out of wash load much better than our previous machine. It is too early to measure the enery savings and overall econcomy. This washing machine appears to be a very good product.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Bought this 6 months ago to replace a top loader from the 80s. We wash anywhere from 2-4 loads a week and has been working great. It took a while to get used to adding the detergent then clothes and THEN starting it, but it seems to wash the clothes efficiently, even with the water level sensor. If I forget to add something, its easy to pause and throw it in. The one problem I have with it: it takes a LONG time. I've never timed it, but on a normal wash, it seems to take like an hour or more. It seems to be about the same time as the matching dryer -- however, we tend to add the wet clothes to the dryer and start it. By the time we add the detergent and clothes, the dryer has been running for a bit. Our dryer always finishes before the washer -- when does that ever happen?! Its also kind of loud. We have it in a basement laundry room and can hear it (muffled) upstairs. It doesn't bother us, but its definitely not recommended for a main floor laundry room. Overall, its not spectacular but its a decent washer that does the job, especially for the price.
Yes, I recommend this product.

We've had the Maytag Centennial Mvwc300xw for several weeks now. Done all types of laundry, from delicate to rugs to pet beds. It washes well, clothes really seem cleaner than with our old washer. Does take a bit longer to complete the cycle but we don't care. Makes weird noises compared to the old technology but not really loud. BF says one of the cycles sounds like the Tardis!! We have had no problems with the level of water it selects at all - clothes come out clean and no soap residue. We usually use the extra rinse and use fabric softener about half the time. Price was fabulous!! We didn't want a high maintenance machine, just one that would produce clean clothes & this is exactly what we got!!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Replaces a 2010 Sears Kenmore 28002010 Hi Effiency tub model that had a bad motor &/or board. Instantly could see the difference in having this model with an agitator. Clothes cleaner by far. . Still get much of the hi effiency $ benefits & clean clothes. Only wish it had more cubic capacity. Now been two weeks & no problems.

It took some getting use to, because it senses the water level, (and I am so use to deciding the water level) but once I got use to it, it was fine. It washes the clothes nicely and drying time is lowered.

This Maytag Centennial HE washer is a very nice basic washer. This unit has an agitator in the center. We enjoyed our last Maytag for eleven years and have used this model for several months. Delivery was efficient. It cleans clothes very well. It's much quieter than our previous machine, but is noisier when filling, draining and spinning. Washing and rinsing sounds are like quiet winding noises.
We follow the instructions carefully and use the recommended liquid HE detergent first and then add clothes. This works better than the old method of pouring detergent on top of clothes. Stains should be presoaked with some detergent. Loading the machine carefully prevents it from becoming off balance. I often fold bath towels, some clothes and sheets in half before loading them around the agitator. The only time we have had an unbalanced noise was when washing a small rug.
The machine's high speed spin, 700rpm, is a great feature. Clothes dry quickly. Some cottons may get stretched, so any delicates that stretch or fray should be washed separately with the delicate cycle or placed in a bag. Different cycles have different spin speeds. We mostly use the Normal cycle.
It takes time to get used to and plan around the HE Maytag's longer wash times. Most cycles take about an hour, some longer, some less. The sensing process allows clothes to soak and this is probably why they wash cleaner. The soaking feature is an eco-friendly way to use wash water. The sensing keeps adding water until the right amount is used. Balancing the laundry when loading helps the machine with the sensing process. There are often long pauses between cycle changes which adds to the total wash time.
A service person recommended the bulky setting whenever a full tub of water is needed. The bulky cycle fills the machine to the top and does not use the slower sensing process. Whenever I have checked the automatic water level, it has been perfect for the amount of clothes. All of the clothes are just covered with water. And the drain and spin, and rinse and spin cycle options are very helpful.
This machine is electronically controlled, so the user needs to learn its logic. When it starts, it locks the lid, then unlocks if for a few seconds, then locks it again and starts. You can't move cycles ahead or back as with older machines, but you can cancel the load and change the cycle. Settings cannot be changed after the cycle has begun.
Pushing the start button to unlock the lid and add items or check the water level works just fine. It's best to pause and unlock the lid when the machine is not busy filling or spinning. When it is spinning, you have to wait until the spinning comes to a complete stop before it will unlock. If you pause when it is not busy, it unlocks within seconds.
If you leave the lid open more than a few minutes (ten minutes will cancel everything and drain), the machine may override the sensor and fill the tub completely full with water or pause for a long while. When it has done this, I canceled the cycle and waited then restarted and it was fine. Waiting a while allows the computer to reset itself. When I pause and open the lid, I try to add clothes quickly and restart so the computer won't reset.
This machine is noisiest during draining and spinning. At first our machine shook the floor and room. Leveling the machine has greatly reduced this since the machine was not leveled during delivery. Be sure to level your machine before using!
This machine has caused water hammer noises in the pipes. It took some time and research to label this issue and to understand the noise. To reduce this, we don't open the water much. The old Maytag didn't do this, so the machine could have a faulty inlet valve. Others have had this problem with some Maytag machines. Also, part of our rubber start button went through the little hole several times but we were able to pull it back out. Now we press it carefully.
We are pleased with how well the Maytag machine cleans clothes. The automatic fill feature is very helpful. Based on other reviews, we remain concerned about its durability. We follow the instructions and plan to take good care of it.
Shopping for a new washer should be easier than reading reviews and trying one out. There should be a location to see how one works or at least a detailed video.
Yes, I recommend this product.

mother in law got this i can't really say when to be exact but i started using it once i moved on already got aggravated with this machine. washing clothes takes a short time but for that short time you'd think its cleaning it properly nope still detergent on it. ridiculous even worse i put the knob on large load where it takes extra time with it. still doesn't do it right, even worse the dryer that goes with this takes two hours to dry one load of clothes. and i mean to completely dry it . so not only is my wash taking forever so is the drying. i basicly have to prepare myself every time i go to wash clothes, one day i spent on just a small load of clothing: let's see i started at about 9:38am didn't finish until 3:12pm that's ridiculous to be spending that much time doing laundry. I've experienced better ones like the Kenmore one is fantastic you set the time on it so that way it finishes when you want it to. that includes the drying fantastic brand they are.but then again can you expect more at the price. absolutely not the best quality washer or dryer that i have used sorry for the rest of you for investing in this peace of junk.

We bought this Maytag Centennial washer and a Maytag dryer for our daughter's new home. They were on sale as a pair at Home Depot in December 2010 for $349 for the pair! Great price...we figured we couldn't go wrong since Maytag's quality was supposed to be much better than in the recent past, right?.....WRONG!!! After 16 months, our daughter calls to tell us the washer agitated then just stopped.....would not drain and spin. I told her to reset the start button to a different cycle then, pull it out to start. This worked......for a while. Today ...one month later.. she told me that it was doing the same thing again! This time i drove to her house and tried turning the timer button to start the washer in different cycles to get it to start spinning......timer just buzzed. I grabbed the washer from the top and pulled forward so that the rear was 1" off the floor...then let it drop.....nothing, but second time it started draining and spinning!!!....transmission problem?? It' only a few months out of warranty!! I'm now looking for a Kenmore washer to replace this one!!

When we got it installed and tried to useit, found that we had to wash each load twice to get a decent clean. Called for service, Home Depot was nice enough, but the Maytag center spent more time insulting my wife than listening to the problem. I will be taking this back to HD for a different machine that is user friendly.

Not enough water goes into the machine to clean the clothes! I have to re-run washes so many times just to clean the clothes. Have to pre-soak socks for them to come out white. I wish we could disconnect whatever decides how much water goes into the tub. I have to add water to every wash. NEVER, NEVER again will buy a machine like this ..

Purchased this washer after reading many reviews. I wanted something rather straightforward and simple. I have no unusual needs, no monstrous loads, no unusual requirements. This is a simple, easy to operate machine that cleans clothes just fine. True, it makes unusual noises - and I am glad it is in our basement - but I am very pleased and would recommend the machine.

This is the second lemon in a row that I purchased. The first one was another brand. This is absolutely THE WORST machine I have ever purchased. The loads take almost an hour to go through & my water useage has almost doubled. If there is a lopsided load it takes forever to stop the machine because of the lock button; when you finally stop the machine and rebalance the load the machine proceeds to start the ENTIRE cycle over again. I have been trying to wash just one lightweight quilt this morning .... started at 9:00 a.m. had a imbalance that I had to fix and the load is still going through and 11:00. TWO HOURS! Maytag call center is only open during weekday hours when I'm working ... so I can't reach anyone to get this piece of junk fixed. Save yourself the aggravation and don't purchase this one. I'm very disappointed with what I thought was a quality name in washers. (I had a Maytag years ago that was wonderful, it lasted for 18 years - wow how things change).
No, I do not recommend this product.
