4.5 in. Turbo Rim Diamond Blade

The Vermont American 4.5 in. turbo rim diamond saw blade has a continuous-rim, hard diamond edge that's suitable for general cutting applications and tough enough for concrete, masonry and stone. It offers constant contact with the material to produce smooth cut.

I needed to cut through my stucco to assess termite and rot damage. My contractor laughed when I pulled out my angle grinder with a masonry blade. He tossed me this well used blade and it cut to the sheathing like the stucco was soft cheese. I can only imagine what a new blade would do!

First time doing a floor tile project and i thought for sure I'd need to go the wet saw route. Yet I kept liking the idea of using a quality manual cutter instead since I could have it right by me (no need to get up and go to where you set up the 100lb wet saw), there's hardly any dust, it's actually faster than any wet saw and the tile doesn't get wet. Plus, no power tool noise!
Ok, back to this blade. As I knew would happen, there were four tiles that needed more intricate cutting than the straight-piece-only manual cutter could provide. I just figured I'd take these to Home Depot and get them cut based on my measurements. But then I got the idea of using a quality diamond wheel on my angle grinder as an experiment. For just those four pieces that needed special cuts, this blade and my nineteen dollar grinder cut through the glazed 5/8" ceramic tile like butter. I know, it's not porcelain or anything, but wow! This was so easy and fast! No nicking, no chips, just clean cutting! Also, I even got brave and fixed a couple of tiles where I had cut them about 1/16 to 1/8" too big with the snap cutter and I just used the side of this blade to skim that wee bit excess off. Again, it WORKED! I thought I was going to have to accept having the narrowing caulk line against the wall, but nope! Oh, and this is a wet/dry blade too. If I were really doing a lot of cuts, I think I'd arrange for a helper to use a spray bottle of water as I cut, just to reign in the dust.
Yeah, cutting dry there's dust like crazy and the noise was atrocious, but what angle iron usage isn't? Anywho, for just those four pieces plus another few that I was then able to perfect after being cut a bit large before, I only used the thing for maybe 4 minutes total (done in the afternoon), and did all of my other cuts with my snap cutter by my side, working till midnight out in the screen room with the neighbors not even noticing. :-)
FYI: The truly knowledgeable associate at Home Depot thought this would chip my tile, I figured I'd risk it since the price on this was so good, and in my case it worked fantastic. Now, this doesn't mean he was wrong necessarily. Yes, perhaps this blade is cleaner cutting than one would think, but also very likely that the specific tile I was installing was more forgiving than is often found too. So, don't come looking for me if your tile doesn't like this blade. :-) Try it on some scrap before doing your real stuff.
Summary: This rookie could not be happier!
