Customer reviews for 2-3/8 in. ProTech Coated Trimhead Deck Screw (1750-Count)

2-3/8 in. ProTech Coated Trimhead Deck Screw (1750-Count)

The CAMO Hidden Deck Fastening System works on any treated lumber, hardwood, cedar, composite or PVC deckboard. CAMO Hidden Fasteners, a CAMO Marksman tool, and CAMO Driver Bits combine to deliver a fastener-free deck surface at a price that makes getting the job easy and installing the deck even easier. The CAMO Hidden Deck Fastening System is engineered to work exclusively together. Using other branded tools, fasteners or bits will impair performance and won't produce the desired results.

The whole system worked great. Only problem was as the screw went in the composite materail would wrap around the screw and I had to blow the material away then back out the screw and do it again. This is a really interesting kit and I will reccommend this product to everyone

Works great on the 5/4 cedar deck boards with yellow wood joists. The description needs to suggest what length of screws to use and if bits are included with the product. It the screws are ordered online, packing tape needs to be wrapped around the container to keep the lid on during shipping. I have installed about 700 screws with 1 bit and haven't stripped the the bit or a screwhead
Yes, I recommend this product.

I'm a DIYer and this thing looked so good on the company web site, but it's pure junk. First no mater how hard or firmly you grip the camo device for installing the screws (marksman) to the board (composite wood) it starts to ride up as the screw starts to drill. So non of the screws went in at the proper angle. Many barely went into the board and instead just dug out some of the side a little and the board could be lifted up. Others went into the top at an angle instead of through the sides which looks horrible. The result is a very frustrating time.
As for the bit, they only included 2 in the package for over 1700 screws. They must be made of some pretty cheap material, because after about 200 screws the bit was losing it's shape and no longer gripping well.
On a side note since you will need a marksman to use the screws. The basic model I bought started to self destruct after about 200 screws. The plastic started to come apart and loss it's shape which made getting the screw in at the right angle even worse. I would give no stars if I could.
If there was a better system for getting them in at the proper angle, it might be worth it, but otherwise they are just expensive thin screws.
No, I do not recommend this product.
