The Mohawk Home Vinyl Clear Stair Tread protector features recycled rubber vinyl construction. This floor protector is water repellent and can be cleaned with a garden hose for easy maintenance. Can be used on wooden stairs, carpeted or bare wood, by stapling or tacking. For concrete or tile surfaces any common floor adhesive with a non-solvent base can be used.

This product would work for a wood stair, however it does not work on carpet. The fold that goes over the tread (end cap) of the stair is very narrow, so it does not cover properly. I had to return it.

What would have been a great product was lessened by 2" x 3" stickers that do not come off easily. My purpose in buying the clear vinyly was to allow the natural wood to show through. While it may not make a difference for black/opaque treads, it defeats the purpose of buying the clear tread. I would still recommend the product, however, the purchaser should know of this problem and the manufacturer should remove the stickers from the clear vinyl product or at least make them more easy to remove.
