HI-MACS means "High Performance Marble Surface". HI-MACS is LG Hausys' brand of solid surface. Because HI-MACS is non-porous stains do not penetrate the surface, an excellent choice where hygiene is important and, mold and bacteria control are desired. HI-MACS sinks and backsplashes can be integrated to the countertop which creates the illusion of a single continuous surface. There are no cracks or crevices with coved backsplashes and integrated sinks for dirt or moisture to hide. HI-MACS is available in several colors, including 6 available Exclusively at The Home Depot and every color is backed by our 15 Year Fully Transferable Limited Warranty. Find your perfect color and upgrade your kitchen today.
Product advertised to be non porous so stains don't penetrate. Within a short time after purchase, ordinary tap water stained our countertops permanently. We made a warranty claim. LG reluctantly sent a repair man out to look. He tried getting the tap water stains off with acetone and denatured alcohol with no success. He concluded the entire top would need to be sanded and buffed $400-$500. LG denied our warranty claim saying we didn't maintain the top according to their guidelines. Their guidelines say it can be wiped clean with ordinary household cleaners like "Mr. Clean". LG doesn't stand by their product.
Cons: Difficult to Clean, stains easily & permanent, Not Durable, Scratches Easily, warranty is useless

LG doesn't honor Warranty
PostedAugust 12, 2014
No, I do not recommend this product.
Ordered an LG Solid Surface Countertop for new home in 2007. In the first year countertop cracked. Because it was during the housing bubble, the contractor that installed it went out of business. We were finishing our basement and we found that LG Warranties their countertops. We sent in to have our countertop either repaired or replaced. LG sent out a technician. Technician stated it was because of heat that it cracked. I sent in pictures that it was over a Dishwasher. They asked if there was a heat support. I pulled out the dishwasher and told them there was. They still denied the warranty. I would strongly recommend you don't purchase an LG Solid Surface Countertop.
