Prior to purchasing these bulbs, I had been using 75-watt GE Halogen wide flood lights (60 degree beam). I ran out of them and I could no longer find them in stores or online. In looking for replacements, I wanted the new bulbs to meet three criteria: high lumen output, bright white color, and a wide beam.
My old GE floods had 1050 lumens. The 75-watt equivalent LED replacements currently available throw between 750 and 850 lumens which is not enough. This bulb throws 1070 lumens.
I wanted a bright white light. I don't like warm white 2700K because it makes my white trim look mustard yellow. I also don't like cool white 5000K because it is dreary and fades out the color of the hardwood floors and cabinets. These bulbs claim to have a 2900K color temperature. I thought that would be too yellow, but these bulbs have no noticeable yellow color at the brightest setting on my dimmers. At full brightness, the white trim looks reasonably white while the hardwood floors and cabinets maintain their natural color.
The 50 degree beam is not wide enough for my liking as it leaves some shadowing on the carpet between the can fixtures in my hallway. I would rate the product 5 stars if the manufacturer increases the beam to 60 degrees.
Overall, these are very nice bulbs that are more efficient than the bulbs they replaced. They are slightly brighter while consuming 20% less energy (60 watts instead of 75 watts). Better yet, they are much cheaper than the bulbs they replace.
Pros: Great Dimming, Very Bright, 2900k
Cons: beam not quite wide enough
