Initially, I was skeptical that a 20V trimmer could really compete with its gas & corded counterparts. Boy was I wrong.
From the moment I fired this trimmer up, I was impressed. It has a good feel to it – it’s well balanced & comfortable to hold. For the power that it packs, it’s also relatively light at a little over 6 lbs (including battery).
But while the design & feel of this trimmer is nice, the real story is its performance. This trimmer blew through trimming my hedge, only snagging once (which is a new record for this particular hedge). I then used it to trim back some bushes and small branches in the backyard and was floored by how well it performed against some pretty sturdy limbs. It easily took down branches that were ½ in. in diameter.
The battery life on this trimmer is also excellent. It charges quickly and after 25 minutes of constant use, 3 of 4 battery indicator lights were still lit. At that rate, I can’t ever imagine the battery running out before I was done trimming.
They’ve also come up with a pretty innovative way to mount the charger on the wall & use it to hold the entire trimmer while it charges. That wasn’t a convenient option for me, but I could see that in some garages that could be a plus.
Overall, I’m super impressed with this hedge trimmer. Scotts did a great job with the design of this product - in terms of power, performance & ease of use, you can’t go wrong.
Pros: Powerful, Cuts Well, Easy to Use, Good Size & Weight, Easy to Store, Light Weight

This is my first hedge trimmer and I wonder why I didn't get one earlier. I never enjoy trimming the brushes and they get overgrown so fast. You feel like you are battling mother nature and you are sure to lose. Yet with this hedge trimmer I kind of look forward to do the chore. The trimmer is very light, only about nine pounds. Comfortable handles. Easy for small people to use. The blade is 18 inches long which is good enough to handle short brushes. I love the battery. It charges in ten minutes or so and lasts for two hours. I have a cordless string trimmer from Black and Decker. It takes half a day to charge the battery and it only lasts for twenty minutes. So overall this is a light and effective trimmer with good battery. Love it.

This hedge trimmer is light and easy to use. It comes with the battery and does a clean job of trimming. We were delighted with how light it is and that there is no additional battery to purchase or cord to trip on. Clean and simple.

In short, this is an AWESOME hedge trimmer that blew through some of my most overgrown bushes and hedges like butter. While it won't cut through super thick branches, it's MORE than adequate for your average shrub.
Features: 45 min quick charge on the battery- nice when you're trying to get through weekend chores.
- On handle battery status (You wouldn't think this would be all that great, but it's nice to know when you're about to run out of charge. Worth noting: I was able to get through 6 shrubs/bushes over 1.5 hours without having to recharge. I wasn't running continuously, but in fairly regular spurts over this period).
Functionality: Good heft to the trimmer, while still remaining easy to use. It's can get a little heavy to use one handed for extended periods of time (I'm a 30 year old female) but two handed operation was a breeze.
- It did jam on the largest branches in my bushes (every cordless trimmer I've tried has) but it chewed through medium sized ones that have stopped other trimmers.
Durability: Haven't owned this long enough to speak to durability but it does have a reinforced handle/stronger weld where the handle meets the trimmer which makes me pretty confident this one won't split like my other trimmer (from a different brand costing 2X as much).
I wasn't sure what to expect from this trimmer- Scott's isn't a brand I typically think of when it comes to outdoor tools, but have been totally blown away and would highly recommend.
Pros: Powerful, Cuts Well, Easy to Use, Sturdy, Good Size & Weight
