DO NOT BUY THESE

,
July 18, 2011

"Absolute junk!!! The design calls for very close tolerances of the cuts, and you have to flip the shelving every which way till you find the closest fit, and then force, them into place.
Worse, the boards are so thin, they warp within a few short weeks with a light load, not even 1/10th the 4000 pound load advertised.
I built three of these, only to end up ripping them apart and throwing them away after the shelves warped so bad they began to collapse.
NOT FIT TO BE SOLD. Sticking pencils in you eyeballs would be more pleasureable than owning these shelves. DO NOT BUY THESE."

shelves

"these shelves are fantastic !!! Very heavy-duty ... the only thing that I did was have home depot cut new particle board inserts because the thin particle board that came with the unit left a lip over the steel which I didn't want.
Bedsides the extra $19 that it cost me for the custom shelves, the unit is perfect ... real heavy duty and also they look great !!!! VERY sturdy. I HIGHLY recommend !!"

"After the shelving were assembled, we decided to test them by seeing how much they would be able to hold. The shelves are being used in our Outreach and Resource Center to stack can goods.
They truly do hold a lot. We emptied appropriately 25 boxes filled with can goods and we were able to fill each self with lots of cans.
I would reommend these heavy duty shelves to family and friends. I was a little hestitant at first about the shelves capacity of 4000 lbs, but after we were able to stack and stack even more on these shelves, I am convinced that they are sturdy, durable and exactly what we needed to get the job done.
I also like the fact they Home Depot were able to deliver free."

Shelves SAG

,
July 9, 2010
By NotWellThoughtOut

"I installed this as two seperate units. As you can see in the picture, the top of each unit has corner posts sticking out above the top shelf. These posts are SHARP and if the protective cap you're supposed to put on it comes off, watch out!
The wood shelving is particle board, much like the cheapest furniture you can find. Within two weeks under normal loads far short of capacity and evenly loaded, the boards were all sagging. If the heaviest loads were not on the bottom shelves, the wood would have fallen straight out! Instead it is now resting on the floor. It was easy to assemble in two units, though I would not trust it as a single unit. If I intend to make good use of this I will have to replace the wood."

Junk!

"I have bought other brands of the same design and been very happy with them. This unit is a piece of junk!!! flimsy steel, thin fragile wood shelves. Unless your storing pillows I wouldn't take this if it was given to me. Stick with the Gorilla brand much better. I wouldn't even recommend it to an enemy!"

Good Stuff

"This shelf is well worth its price. It's simple, tho a little tricky to assemble, and it works. Once built I found it was sturdy and held my stuff very well. My stuff wasn't that heavy but it saved me space in the storage unit I had. Of course no shelf would be good if not evenly loaded or loaded beyond its weight specs. These shelves worked for me for my needs."

Strong Work Horse

"We bought 5 of these shelves (2 two years ago and 3 six months ago) and find them to be very strong and spacious. The wood is very durable and takes a beating without showing it. The shelves hold-up well under use. They are VERY heavy, so I would recommend building them in place."

Shelf Brackets

,
December 6, 2009
By jakeman702
from Las Vegas
"I have compared these shelves to the "other guys" and have found that they may actually be stronger - on their own. With these, the shelf "lip" is part of the bracket and not something added on. However, the bracket is rounded and doesn't allow the shelf wood to seat "square." This, to me, would make any significant amount of weight spread apart the brackets and put more stress on the flimsy 3/8 particle board, weakening the whole structure. Also, there isn't a hole to bolt/screw the shelf wood to the bracket. I plan to upgrade the wood to 3/4 ply and add a small strap where I plan to have a lot of weight. I'm sure after I spend a little time customizing, 4000lbs will not be a challenge."

Mixed review

"If you purchase this shelving intending to use it as two 36" high units side-by-side, it is great. However, if you wish to assemble it as a 72" single unit, the join is very poorly designed. The top post butts atop the bottom post and the two are held together by the shelf itself. They are difficult to assemble and do not stay properly aligned. I doubt that they will support 4000# as advertised."

Easy assembly & strong shelves!

"I purchased 4 of these to use in my garage for storage, and I couldn't be happier with the end result. I assembled them myself, and each one took me around 15-20 minutes...only because I was doing this solo.
I would like to have seen a more substantial bolt or something joining the top and bottom half together. One of the corners of my shelf also chipped a bit on the metal when I laid it in.
Overall, though...excellent quality for the price and perfect for my intended use!"

"I have four of these units that i use to store several thousand LP records that weight a ton! We have had them in use for several years with NO problems. The shelves have NOT sagged.
I also use several of these shelves in my shop to hold heavy sound equipment for my business. Still no problems.
They go together very easily....as long as you have a some common sense.
No need for bailing wire, duck tape, or any bolting.
I will be buying more as needed."

5 shelf heavy duty steel shelving/72h/48w/24d

"this is very time consuming to put together, and even with a rubber mallot. shelving was still shaky after all 5/8 particle board was installed, and bolted to wall. rivets are not truly aligned to fit into frame- i had to really pound the frame together. particle board chiped apart in corners- need a thicker board than the 5/8 board that is included. would not recommend for anyone who has no prior building experience of shelving."

Inexpensive but not sturdy

,
June 22, 2009

"These shelves are inexpensive and easy to assemble, but not heavy duty. They look like the ubiquitous grey industrial shelves except the metal columns and rails and the particle board shelves are much thinner. The joint between the top and bottom halves is fundamentally flawed and really should be bolted. The 4000lb load rating is a joke."
