Yes, you can shorten your blinds.

The instructions on how to do that should of been included when you purchased them.

To view how to do this, if you don't have the instructions, can be found in the link below:

http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pd...

It doesn't take too long to shorten them, but make sure the blinds are not taken down while doing it.

Yes, these blinds can be custom cut. Since we sell these at your local Home Depot, you'll notice that the saw to cut them down is there as well.

Be sure to have your measurements handy, and then come to your local store, and we can get you the size to give a custom cut for your blinds!

I have casement window and would prefer open from middle- to the left and right.....or if not, than have it open from the right to the left...this will allow ac to be un-obstructed in summer, with the other side of window covered from the sun and heat, I am aware I can get verticals, but I prefer horizontal slats! Thank you for your time!!

Hello Hellen and thank you for your question.

I have recently had several customers change out their old windows for new energy efficient vinyl windows. You will need to check several measurements to ensure that the blinds will fit the new windows:

1. Will the window frame dimensions (height and width) be changed when the new windows are installed? Ask the installer how the new windows will be installed and if the framework and any existing window mouldings will be affected.

2. Even more importantly, how will the depth of the window change? You may still be able to install the blinds as an inside mount, however, they may extend outside the framework (no longer a flush-mount installation) or need to be installed as a ceiling mount (through the top of the framework).

Best wishes on your project.
