elta Faucet model # RP1740 can be replaced by turning off the water and removing the handle along with the bonnet nut. The old RP1740 should pull straight up and you can replace it with the new cartridge.

Hi BFM,

Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP1740 can be replaced by turning off the water and removing the handle along with the bonnet nut. The old RP1740 should pull straight up and you can replace it with the new cartridge. Then just put everything back the same way that it came out and you should be fine.

Thanks.

I recommend changing the small spring and seat that fits under the unit. Cost is just a few dollars. Nothing else is required.

Yes, it is pushed by a spring and is what keeps water from flowing through the faucet. Probably the most essential part. After time, it wears out and no longer holds out the water, causing the faucet to start dripping

I removed the old unit simply by inserting a screw driver into it and lifting it out. If the spring slips out, either while removing the old or inserting the new, it can easily be removed or reinserted using a pair of needle nose pliers. Reinsert the new spring into the new seat and re-install..

Thank you for your question. This stem unit is not used in all Delta two-handle models, but it is used in quite a few. The best course of action to follow in order to find out exactly what part you need is to identify what stem unit you currently have. You can receive assistance with this process from the plumbing department at your local Home Depot store. You can also contact the Delta consumer line at 1-800-345-3358.
